  • Lets looks at the 2021 Apeks XTX5- and MTX-RC scuba regulators and their features. These are some of the very best regulators available today. LINK:

    Here's the XTX-50
    www.divers-sup...
    The XTX50 is for the discriminating diver who wants the benefits of a feature-rich regulator at a moderate price. This popular regulator has four medium-pressure ports all mounted on a rotating turret. This results in optimal hose routing while eliminating sharp bends in the hose.
    Here's the MTX Link:
    www.divers-sup...
    Innovations in design mean that the MTX-R regulator performs in almost freezing water at a depth of over 60 metres, something that very few other regulators on the consumer market can boast.
    With an innovative first stage design that helps to prevent ice build up around the diaphragm, the MTX-R is reliable, rugged and expedition ready.

    Apeks really does such a great job in their products. The best part is their prices are actually super reasonable in comparison to their competitors. I’m actually surprised more recreational divers haven’t really jumped onto the Apeks brand. I find these to breathe really well in all conditions.

    Bought a set of the MTX-R regs (not C) from a dive show last week... can't wait to try them out. Water temps are currently about 4C in my local dive site (UK) and I've had two free flows, one pretty bad one, so looking forwards to having more confidence in my air supply!

    ive got the MTX-RC for primary second and the MTX-R Octo, i rather the mtx-r for octo because they are adjusted perfectly and i dont really need to adjustment for an octo.
    these regs are rock solid. ill be ice diving them this winter.

      I must say it does take planning, setting up video/audio gear, products, shooting and lots of time (3 hrs) editing, and up-loading to CZcams. BUT I do enjoy doing it for everyone.
      Lots of folks just can't put their hands on dive gear that easy... Regards, Bob C

    I had a Zeagle(made by Apex)first and second stage as well as donor, and an Apex bail-out for my pony. They were great regs and I loved diving with them. I am thinking about getting back into diving and will most likely go with what I was familiar with, sounds like they are still building great gear.

  • @twoknife
    @twoknife Před 2 lety +1

    I find myself torn between these and the Aqualung Legend. I like the ACD on the Aqualung, but the cheap DS4 as a second first stage for cold waters is quite appealing as well. We have some dive sites that require that configuration and it is what I am used to anyway (together with a long hose). I like ice diving in addition to warm waters during my vacation. I technically always have the option to rent a second regular for free from my local dive club so in theory I don't absolutely need to own two first stages. They are well maintained and what I have been using thus far.

    • @DiversSupplyYT
      @DiversSupplyYT  Před 2 lety

      All important thoughts that's for sure.. while I do like the ACD and do see it as a worthwhile feature, if I dive mainly warm waters but was to ocassionally do some ice diving... I'd have to go MTX. my .02

    Hi Bob. Have you weighted the full MTX-RC with octo and compared with the Legend Elite full set ? The MTX-RC seems heavier by looks, but I might be wrong. Do you know if the second stage can be used with the DS4 (in case of the need for 2 x 1st stage in cold water) ? Thanks

    Hi Bob,,
    I’m in the market for a regulator and I’m really torn between Apeks MTX-RC and ScubaPro MK25 A700,, money is no problem
    1- What would you recommend and why?
    2- Do you know the WOB ( work of breathing) for each one?
    Best

    • @DiversSupplyYT
      @DiversSupplyYT  Před 2 lety +2

      Money no problem buy both... Just Kidding ! This is a tough question. Some of my answer would depend on where you dive and which BC do you use.
      Short answer, both are very good BUT I prefer the design of the MTX-RC. Is the SP unit top shelf? Yes but if I went SP, I'd reach sideways for their MK19/D420.

      @@asimsg9231 Wow, love to dive with you sometime ! Not really, I'd still probably go MTX or Mk19/D420... I love the cool industrial look of the MTX 1st stage and it's hose routing. Plus it comes with braided hose(s).

      @bloodymarvelous4790 Před 2 lety +1

      @@DiversSupplyYT See, that's interesting. I bought the MTX, and replaced the braided hoses with rubber hoses. Braided hoses are very nice, but I find they start to fray over time, no matter how careful you are with them, and frayed hoses are really rough on the skin. I personally prefer rubber hoses (also because I use a hogarthian loop, and braided hoses are too buoyant).
