Livin’ that windy and obstructed shot life… I do apologize for both of those, but I really didn’t have any other recording options, so it is what it is and there’s nothing I can do about it. Anyway, Chickasaw County was a new one for me. Other people have recorded here, notably Nate and Aaron, but the catch was that nobody had recorded outside of New Hampton until now. So, feeling confident, I trucked my way down to Nashua’s Thunderbolt to see if anything would happen. To my surprise, there was another siren enthusiast there - Dylan, who’s from Cedar Falls. While I had not made plans with him beforehand, I went up and introduced myself regardless since I know a siren enthusiast when I see one. At about 10:58AM, it choked to life for a 3 minute attack. It also surprised me with 8rpm, which I definitely was not expecting. This sucker was pretty loud despite being a typical CD 1000T; it was almost as loud as Estherville, if not equal. Anyway, despite the drawbacks, I hope you enjoy the video.
Chickasaw County tests their siren system on the first Monday of every month at 11AM, weather permitting.

Wow this brings back memories. Growing up, if this tone was heard it meant “take cover, nuclear attack imminent”. Since I lived in a “target city” my parents had a cement fallout shelter room in the corner of the basement stocked with food and supplies. Thankfully it never saw use from an actual attack (but it made a great secret clubhouse).
If you lived in a target city or 5 miles within one, you would be told to evacuate
@@dylanjb4065 it was considered a target city because it had over 3 million residents…..think for a moment…..how effective would an evacuation be if close to a million or so cars hit the roads to evacuate the city at nearly the same time???

Honestly I would bet you that the rotator is oofed on the one without bad batteries. It didn’t move an inch.
@@mnsirens yeah I saw that too on my way out of town and I was like "what the heck".
It’s probably just a blown fuse and/or a faulty bushing. I let the city know about both problems, they’ll be getting them fixed soon.

That was charlie Davidsons bolt before he moved they took it put it there and changed rotating speed to 8rpm and removed the red light and spinny thing
The city should switch that other 2001-130 to AC so that the batteries can be fully charged incase of power loss and the one with low batteries sounds a little like a ASC T-128 and since there are already two 2001-130s will this get eventually get replaced
The 2001-130s got installed for battery backup coverage throughout the city, but the Thunderbolt was never removed. So the short answer is yes, but it may be awhile.
Sounds more like a Vortex running an ESC-2020 set to 435hz.
