Hi Mel
Your wheel looks really good ,
Thanks for sharing and the tips , you are very good at explaining .
I really enjoy watching and learning ,
Thank you for the positive feedback and all the encouragement really appreciated have a great weekend đ
Well done again buddy.
Like how youâve done the whole Van fit out yourself đ
Same deal myself-
A two đ build.
Job well done Mel đ
Thank you buddy đ
Nice job Mel looks great
Thank you
Good job Mel, Thumbs Up.
Thank you đ
Great job Mal must definitely get one of this đđ
Thank you really appreciate your encouragement and support if you do get one be careful with the grinder đ
Great job Mel
Thank you thatâs really appreciated đđđ
So glad ive got a little dremel for jobs like this Mel, it gets in the smallest of gaps and the discs cut really well, its one of them tools that you get out once in a bluemoon but so happy youve got it, great Vid Mel đđ»i need to do the same just saving for a spare đ€Ł not cheap are they lol
Thank you buddy and no there not cheap thatâs why itâs taken me so long to get one đđđ
Brilliant vid as ever Mel đ I have spoken to these guys about a custom job for my Iveco, they are really helpful đ
Thatâs great đ
Great job Mel !
Iâm about to tackle mine tomorrow đŹ luckily I have much experience with angle grinders, but I still think I will get a helping hand . Good job doing it alone ! đ
Thank you buddy good luck with your build
Excellent Mel! loving the filming, just like being there! That's some serious weight on those hinges but it's not like you're a UPS delivery guy!
Stay safe and wash your hands đđ
Thank you buddy you stay safe too đđđ
Great job as always manđ
Thank you
im so happy i sent mine back to wheeliams..lol
Enjoy'n the vids. Got the BF Goodrich Ko2s fitted during the week. Just out in camper at a local meet up of campers from within our county. The new shoes on me camper drawing great looks from other cmpervaners. đđ
Well done have a great weekend buddy đ
Looks really lovely Mel đ€
Thank you Bex đđđ
Allways thinking cracking job
Thank you âșïž
Hi Mel, just watched ur vid on the spare wheel fit nice job , I had a landy years ago and I always thought that the spare wheel was ok on the back door until some body tried to steel it while we taking a break from off roading, so to keep it safe I purchased two locking wheel nuts that u know need a special adaptor to fit it to remove the bolt , I should hate u to loose yr spare cheers paul Watton
Thank you buddy I fitted 4 locking bolts to it đđđ
Great video Mel đđđ
Thank you âșïž
Awesome Mel
Thank you
Good job on the video mail good to see you my friend
Thank you buddy
Good job on the fit of the wheel on the door. I too was wondering about the additional weight on the door hinges especially with the addition of the water heater. I think you will need to keep an eye on the retaining bolts of the hinges where they attach to the van body. Still, being a Mercedes i would imagine they fitted high tensile (8.8) bolts! All the best to you.
Thank you buddy Iâll definitely keep an eye on them maybe move my heater if possible đ
Thanks for the detailed explanation at the 7:00 minute mark of the video on fitting the carrier to Rebecca's (Sacred-Traveller) Van , This is the piece I was missing (I am after all just a Thick Aussie) .Thanks for clearing that up Mel. P.S. Terrible when we have a fall and it's caught on camera.
No worries mate Iâm pleased it helps you thank you for taking the time to comment really appreciated and yes that driveway is a pain lol đ
Well done đ mate
Thank you đ
12:05 Someone told me to be careful with some silicone as they can contain salt which makes stuff rust apparently. Just something to consider.
Great vid. I want to make up something for my van. This will help a great deal to see how it fits etc.
Thatâs absolutely right good luck with your build đđđ
Take a shot every time
Mel says âangle grinderâ.
Haha đ
Cool video, thanks. I know it's too late, but the 245/75/R16 fits under the Sprinter in the original holder. You just have to flex away a brace at the very back - then it fits. I would like to have a rear mount with the spare tire on the back (looks cool), but I have fears about the weight on the door - especially off road).
Thank you buddy thatâs really appreciated đ
Crackin job there Mel, dont know if i would have copied thatđ
Looking at your angle grinder reminds me of the mistake i made grinding off a piece of metal from one of our seatcarriers, there where some brackets on them that could hurt our dog when he would lay there....
Now i'm forced to buy a new front windowshield....as the metal from the grinder pierced the glass there..
Huge facepalm for me there.đ„ș
Oh dear Iâm sorry buddy hope itâs not to expensive
Magnificent mate ..orr inspiring.. đđđ
Thank you buddy have a great weekend đ
That looks well sweet on the back of there, well done matey when you're working on your own people that watch videos instead of doing it themselves just have no clue how difficult it really is..đ
Thank you đ
i know Im asking randomly but does any of you know of a trick to get back into an instagram account?
I stupidly lost the login password. I would love any assistance you can offer me!
@Amir Brayan Instablaster ;)
@Ryder Ismael I really appreciate your reply. I got to the site thru google and Im waiting for the hacking stuff now.
Seems to take a while so I will reply here later with my results.
@Ryder Ismael it worked and I actually got access to my account again. Im so happy:D
Thank you so much, you saved my ass !
Hi Mel đ just saying hi and well done â đđđđŹđ§đŹđ§đŹđ§
Thank you buddy thatâs really nice of you have a great weekend đ
Nice job again Mel, whatâs stops the doors being flexible at the hinges after you cut those awkward bars out?
Keep up the videos, you and others are better than TV.đđȘ
Thank you the wheel carrier becomes part of the hinge and keeps everything tight đ
Nice addition
Enjoyed all your videos
I've been looking for a good sprinter for about a year
no luck the prices have all gone up and not many good low mileage vans about
Good luck thanks Bill
Yep van prices gone up over 30% since covid. Demand for home deliveries and van conversions is now all time high. Don't skimp on the van purchase. Buying a scruffy high mileage lemon will be a VERY costly mistake. I was very lucky to buy mine 18 months ago and still took me 4 months to find the right van. It was Ex lease just over 3 years old and low mileage and main dealer serviced.
Good luck thereâs one out there keep looking đ
Mell just a quick one I was watching one of your videos. And I believe your having a problem with condensation in the winter !,,
I find that this helps 80% Put cat litter in a few socks use a zip tie to seal it donât pack it in tight have it lose Ish bit like a bean bag
You know what cat litter is designed for !!! To Collect Moisture
Thank you đ
Just watching these again Mel. I don't have access to the inside of my rear door now....lots of insulation and finishing trim on so it'll be rivnuts.
Donât know if I would recommend that try asking the manufacturers
Good job, and I enjoyed watching, with interest. For me, with all aspects of putting the spare there, I would have kept it underneath, putting effort instead into how to modify its original fitting for the larger tyre. It'll very likely be many years till you have to use it, and all it's bulk and weight and presence is constantly on the back door, I could'nt live with that. Still a great video to watch, thankyou!
Thank you buddy thatâs kind of you to take the time to comment
Looks cool Mel. Thinking about the weight on the hinges. Looking at it, those centre plates that the carrier bolt onto, are effectively reinforced by the carrier, which is great. Also the door is probably quite well supported when itâs closed.
Looks like the area where wear or damage may be most noticed would be on the hinge pins and where there is metal on metal contact during movement. A simple thing to consider would be keeping them well lubricated. Iâve got a ladder on one door and that small amount of extra weight has worn the hinge faster. I suppose itâs just a sacrifice than needs to be made, but I reckon if Iâd have kept it well lubed it might be in better nick today.
thank you i did think the same add a little oil to them pins
What size wheel for spar
e on the Ducato
Looks great. Mine is underneath. Bloody nightmare to get to on a rainy night.
Oh yeah Iâve been there done that and always happens at night in the rain đđđ
Haaahaha.. Mel, You have got an Echo.. You only said "Angle Grinder" 10 & 1/2 times, Could have made it a dozen.. Had to watch it twice so that i could count.. Sooo nickable.. Great stuff bud
Haha thank you buddy Iâm just so worried somebody wheel hurt themselves the metal pinched the wheel of grinder so many times could be quite dangerous for somebody thatâs not used to using one đ
Ouch on the bloopers did that hit your glasses :(? Looks well smart buddy :) think there be a long list of people asking you to help fit thereâs :)
Great video, always makes you feel your actually there with you :) always amazing super star step by step bud :)
Vans looking soo lovely :) hope you had a sunny Friday and have a super weekend :) đ€âșïžđđșđđ
Thank you buddy thatâs really appreciated đđđ

Thats a common sizehere in Canada đ, also the LT(Light truck) version too.
Brilliant đ
good vid
Thank you
Just want a nice cover for it now mel
Thatâs a great idea đ
Great job ++ :-)
Thank you buddy đ
Hi Mel I enjoy watching your tubes, very good. What replaces the bits you had to grind out? Are the hinges still stable and strong enough???
The carrier becomes part of the hinges everything is on there website đ
Nice one đ. Just got exactly the same one from Wheeliams for mine as I want to put an LPG tank where the spare is right now. Iâve used U-POL Raptor to paint it... good stuff but a bit pricy to be honest. Will be interested to know how good olâ hammerite stands up đ
Thank you buddy take your time fitting it and please be careful đ
@@BigVanSmallWorld will do. Top tip on removing the light cluster.... will definitely be doing that now đ
this is what i want to do with my van
Hi Mel
Great Vid as always.
Would you mind telling me what size WHEELS you fitted please?
Many thanks
Thank you for the great question there just standard 16inch rims
Good video but I don't understand something, Does the bracket you attached replace the piece you cut out? When you cut that piece out the door was " loose, less controlled ' does the bracket fix that? Did I miss something ? I have watched it a couple of times but don't get it. ? đ€đ€
Sorry yes the wheel carrier makes everything solid again đ
Top job as usual Mel đđ»
if you dont mind me asking Mel, what is the length of your van?
Thank you itâs a medium wheel base
Hi Mel could you tell me how the water heater performed for you over the year went back to watch the video again looks good
Itâs go good I fitted it in Beckys van đ
Greetings, Good work fitting the spare wheel carrier. Clear explanation. Noticed your tankless water heater - what regulator are you using (ie.37 mb or something else?). Thanks
Thank you Iâm using a standard regulator đ
Hi Mel great video . What locking wheel nuts did you get please do you have a link cheers. đ
There you go ebay.us/54cQWK
Great video, I'm trying to find a similar solution for a 2020 Fiat Ducato but all too expensive. The one you purchased seems a fair price but only for Mercedes..
Good luck and thanks for taking the time to comment đ
Mel! - Did you use an 'Angle-Grinder' by the way? ;-) ..... I think I counted 137 times you mentioned it before I lost count :-) ............ Back in the day (Before #HealthAndSafety Ballsed Everything UP!) I had a big Old twin-wheel Transit Mk1 Van .... We used to fix the spare-wheel to the bonnet and use it as a dumper 'on site' to move the Dirty-Great Mixers around from house-to-house by pushing them through the thick old mud everywhere .... It had the big old Town & Country tyres and would go EVERYWHERE! - Especially back home in the evening - We called it 'The Green Goddess!@ - Happy DAYS !! ;-) .........
A Good job there Mel - Proper Focus & Commitment :-)
Thank you buddy for taking the time to comment I bet you wish you still had that old transit đđđ
Question, what did you do, to replace the section that you cut out? Because the door became floppy..
Hi Mel.
I've got myself an ex patient transporter ambulance with windows all down the sides. I want to have a nautical theme inside with porthole windows. Leaving the outside looking like a minibus from the outside but with totally blacked out windows, 14" sewer pipes to line the portholeswith cladding up to the portholes . I'm struggling to think of a way of replicating the what would be brass rings out of timber though. Any ideas. Sorry it long and drawn out. Love your channel. James
Hi thanks for the encouragement sounds like you have a fantastic idea there good luck with your build I really donât know what you could use to make portholes đ€
try keith gott landrover specialist down in alton for a good quality wheel cover.
Thank you đ
What replaced the removed tie rods to maintain stability?
The wheel carrier
Hi. When installed is there an issue with the door damaging the rear light lens when being opened?? Btw great vid
No worries at all they work really well đ
Hay Mel
You still getting on ok with your tracker unit mate
Cheers đ§đ§
Yes itâs working great đ
Other than getting the bolts in why do you cut the stays off? Do you have to now faff about to shut it now?
It work really well all the information is on there website
Hello Mel thinking about getting I car soft scanner . What model does all the cars please. Love your videos sorry to be a bother. Kind regards Clive
Hay buddy no bother at all I put a link in the description of this video to the scan tool I use it is the one thatâs multi Vehicle I use it on my van my old Peugeot and on a mini as well and itâs worked out great đ
đ
Whatâs the depth of the wheel carrier, how much does it stick out by? đđŒ
So get someone whoâs used to using an angle grinder???? Got it!đ
Well done đ đđ
Hi Mel
I'm thinking of a way to get my motor home a Peugeot boxer L3 out of a stuck in the mud situation, I have looked at many ways from rope pulleys, electric winches, hand winches, and those track ladder boards.
Winches only go on the front and won't pull you out backwards, rope pulleys are too much faff ladder boards take far too much space, and hand winches don't seem to have the strength to pull 3.5 tons. I know you also drive lorries and must have gotten stuck on the odd occasion so i would like to know your thoughts. Ps of course i want to spend as little as possible. Thanks Mel
I think you have dismissed all the cheap options BF Goodrich KO2s are brilliant start with them Iâve not got stuck since having them fitted most if not all the HGV trucks Iâve driven have switchable diff lock fitted and Iâve only ever had to use it once in 20 years that was going up a steep hill and some knob stops in front of me forcing me to stop in a 30 ton truck in the rain only way I could get moving was to use diff lock if you have ABS and traction control the abs will grab a wheel thatâs lost traction cussing the other wheel to turn it works amazing well that with the BFGs youâre be fine đđđ
Thanks Mel
It would seem the best option. I had intentions of buying a set of wheelsl and tyres like yours as many others have also done but i was going to wear mine out first, the trouble is i bought a brand new van to convert and have only driven 3000 miles since finishing it last may, due to lockdown. So to part with another ÂŁ1200 ish will hurt as i even paid for uprated tyres thinking they would be better in the mud but they're not. I've already been stuck on level damp grass and had to be pushed out. đ

Like nearly everything on the campervan market - the LDV Maxus has been forgotten about...
I absolutely loved my Maxus was a brilliant van
Im looking into getting a van to convert myself im 6,2 and I dont have grandfather rights any ideas on what would be the best and biggest van. Ps the urchins will pinch the cover if you get one
Hi I really canât say what the best van is for you but I would suggest checking out insurance before you buy any van donât worry about urchins iv got locks đđđ
đ
Hi mel where did get the wood burning stove from
Link in the description of most of my videos đ
I wonder how long before the tail light gets hit. Could you tap a thread into those holes?
it wont hit the tall light its all good đđ€đ
Ratchet strap over the top of your door to lift the wheel Mel.
Thatâs a great idea
Hmmm notice you didn't show getting the first two wheel nuts out again with the wheel in place, nice carrier though
Thatâs because they stay there why would I take them out đ
Where abouts in the UK are you based it ATM im guessing it's down south.
Cotswolds mate đđđ
Hi mel will the insurance. still cover you with having. a wood burning stove in you van that is my question
Yep đ
He is like Liam Gallagher giving you lessons on how to change a light bulb
thanks
Mel, where did you get the wheel nuts lock from?
ebay.us/FcpKLl
Does anyone know if there is/was a version of this for a T1N sprinter?
Hi you will find a there website in the description of this video đ
Hi Mel, just now I found your Channel. Iâv a question. How many kg have your van. BR from Austria, Jörg
Hi ya thatâs a good question I really donât know Iâll have to find out đđđ
did you say angle grinder ?
How much did you pay for your tyres
Made me laugh Made from mild steel Ding!!! lol 18:14
Was lucky i didnât lose my glasses đ
Do they do 1 for Mk7 transit Mel?
I really donât know sorry đŁ
Cheers mate đ
I think the key word of todays episode is "angle grinder."
Haha đ
these things are ÂŁ300 dude! Ill can make one for a tenner. I should sell them.
edit: with a lock.
Theyâre ÂŁ200 and yes I did pay for mine to help support British small businesses
Thatâs a lot of weight on them hinges, Iâm sure it will be fine. Why do you have to cut the strength bar out couldnât you use smaller bolts to clear it or better still get the bracket welded to the hinge ?
Itâs all on there website đ
Needs a ring to go over the nuts and a lock.
Without a wheel locating stud and no way of putting a lock on i wouldn't consider one.
I used 4 locking wheel bolts
You need Rebecca giving it a wiggle
Haha she was working đ
How do you stop some scrote stealing it?
Locking wheel bolts đ
Item no longer available?
what's no longer available?

Thank you good idea
I used hummerite for bit pieces on top of truck chassis only last 1 winter washed away by the road salt. Very disappointed.
Ohh Iâll have to keep an eye on it thank you buddy đđđ
