✨🙂↕️ tellin you about all the cesarean sections I did this week! I also have a solid sit-down segment where I share my secrets to powering through obstacles in life and growing from them.
Then I share some little easy recipes and show my leg day at the gym!
The best combination of clips. I love hearing the view of successful people, i love your advices, i love seeing food stuff thrown in the vlogs and generally missed u:)❤
As a medical student I actually love so much that you complain because it goes against the constant normalization/glamorization of horrendous work hours and work environments that we are just expected to be okay with! Thank you so much for these videos, they make me feel like I'm not crazy for seeing how incredibly challenging this process of becoming a doctor is.
♥️✨
"Every wall is a door" is a saying that really resonates with me
Wow. Almost a 2nd year resident? That's crazy
You got this! And yes, complain, I'm here for it. I hear you, and your thoughts/feelings are valid.
Don't listen to those people who say you complain to much I bet they complain at some time about working an 8 hour shift 5 days a week. What I love about your vlogs is your honesty and how you keep it real! You have done that throughout your entire medical school journey and now in residency. Keep on keeping it real!! 💕
I'm applying to OBGYN residency programs this fall and I'm absolutely applying to your program. Thank you for these videos. It makes me excited for the future. Keep on complaining. Residency is hard. We understand and appreciate the candor.
I wish you the best on your journey to be an OBGYN! :)
I've been watching your videos for a long time. i made it to my Master's in Nursing accelerated program. Brain hurts but your videos have motivated me in some way or another. Got validations next week wish me luck.
Congrats! Wishing you all the best and good luck!
God bless you sis 🎉
Best of luck !
i know you don't get that much time but a cooking type video could be cool like your 5 most favourite quick recipies
Thanks for the idea! I was considering doing that :)
Wow, Dr. Rachel has changed a lot in just a short amount of time. I didn’t know hospitals abuse their residents this much.
How did I change?
Aww, this is kind of sad to read. It's true that residency is rough, but I think Rachel has been her same resilient self. Of course she has changed but it's not in a negative way. I've seen her build confidence which has been lovely to watch. She is becoming a stronger person everyday and she is an incredible OBGYN already :)
i volunteer in labor and delivery department and mother infant unit as well and seeing what you guys do is soooo AMAZING. I look up to you so much 😭🤍
Please please please for the knot tying video!!!!
I am so happy to see your growth as a Dr. you are an amazing human. It blows my mind the schedule you have to keep and perform these procedures with such skill. ❤
Hi Rachel 👋 thanks for your videos. I am in no way involved in the medical field😂 but I love to see this side of a medical professional maybe because I have always wanted to be a nurse and we've experienced many medical emergencies in our lives and just truly appreciate you all.
I think i watch your content also because you motivate me to reach my goals and not give up. I just got my life agent license and in the middle of a fitness challenge. I kept pushing thru with you in mind cheering me on. Thank you lots for the encouragement. 💕
Hi Rachel, I'm so glad that you are feeling more confidence with the C-sections and it just goes to prove that your body and mind are in total alignment at those exact moments when a procedure requires extreme mental clarity. I hope you are able to catch up on some sleep before your next shift, I really don't know how you manage it. Sending much love, support and restfulness.
this video truly made me so happy rachel! as an aspiring obgyn about to go into her surgery rotation (and feeling very overwhelmed and scared), it is so heartwarming to see you so happy in this video and seeing that it is possible to recognize self growth in such a crazy field. sending lots of love and hoping the positive energy continues
I love your videos!
I’m in an accelerated nursing program and I understand where you’re coming from 😅
Keeping it real is why I love watching you ❤
I appreciate how real you make your videos. I’ve been watching since the beginning!
Just graduated from my post-bacc last week, and took my mcat 3 weeks ago. Application season now! You’ve been motivation through it all.
Hey Rachel....I know I posted about this before on your other video, but that imposter syndrome video you posted
last year in May, is something I keep rewatching BECAUSE I'm getting ready for residency! Seeing your most recent video offers hope! It's a scary place to be in full of excitement and nervousness...the unknown is definitely kicking in! But it's good to see that a year from now you were where I am now, and currently you are where I would like to be next year! I know you are tired, but keep going...you're growing professionally and it's truly INSPIRING!
yes Please film that video of your trick with knot ties! I would be very excited to see it :)
You got it!
obsessed with you and this video. if i have half the mental strength as you when i’m a resident i’d be overjoyed my gosh ❤❤ keep pushing
I love how real you make your videos. I can’t believe you’ll be a PGY-2 soon, that’s insane. Much love to you doc!
Dr. Rachel thank you for what you do keep up the good work you’re beautiful amazing you’re wonderful kind. I appreciate all the nurses and doctors that help us out or help us when we need it. Really good person.
Love your videos Rachel! They keep me motivated when I'm feeling blegh about nursing school. So many people try to warn me about the doctors I'll end up working with, but I'm excited to be surrounded by people who care about what they do, especially if they're even half as passionate as you are! Seeing how deeply you feel for your field is such a lovely reminder that I'm on the right path and I can't wait to be a great nurse :)
I loved this vlog so much ! I loved how you edited it, the way you did your shots, the aesthetic of it all ✨
I also loved that you filmed little bits that you wouldn’t necessarily film before like all the home bits ☺️
Do you have more restrictions about filming at the hospital now ? I know a lot of hospitals are imposing that now even if you’re just filming yourself 😅
But anyway, absolutely loved this vlog and the segment about overcoming obstacles 🥰
I like the idea that every obstacle is an opportunity. I can reflect and see that this is my modus operandi, but I appreciate the reminder, and the knowledge that this approach works for you too. :)
Please film the knot video and hand tying!! I can’t seem to get it watching other videos. It would be so helpful! ❤
Looking forward to watch it all ❤
Thank you for the reminder about turning obstacles into opportunities, as I'm facing one in my life right now with leaving my job. Your videos are always great at keeping me grounded and making me feel empowered ❤
so proud of how far you’ve come❤️ I’m inspired by how passionate you are
I really enjoyed this video it just felt so good
“Gestational age as a first year resident “ cracked me up 😂
Hehe
The obstacle is the way, indeed.
Love your vlogs! So relaxing to watch!
Glad you like them!
You got this Queen!!!!!
Love this vlog! The evening sequence was really pretty :)
YES to the suturing video!! PLEASE the video resources for this are severely lacking! I start surgery next month & I need tips
PLEASE FILM THE REEL ABOUT KNOT TYINGGG
I really appreciate you sharing your thoughts about obstacles. I'm currently struggling with things and I'm going to try to push through that certain obstacle tomorrow. Another thought, would you ever consider chopping your hair into a bob? I think it'd look stunning on you! (In case you were wanting a change)
11:35 Thank you for sharing!! Best of luck and take care ❤
If my surgeon needs Metallica, Abba, Bach or Dizzy, I say CRANK IT!!!
OBSESSED with your piercings!!!!!!! and jewelry choice, too!
Thank you Christelle!!
I don’t know how you work all the crazy hours! Working 13 hrs is exhausting, let alone 24 hrs.
Question, is your bf still moving in with you? You just glow when he’s in your videos with you. Happy Saturday
):
Yes! He is :) I can’t wait for that!
Take sleeping pills while you're trying to adjust your sleep I've heard "Lemme Sleep" are good. Also, don’t drink coffee 12 hours before bedtime I know isn’t easy but coffee prevents good deep sleep, I think sleeping better would make such a difference
Hi Rachel. I know your job is very important, intense at times and stressful sometimes too, but I was thinking maybe you should have a check up and blood tests done. You could be low in your vitamin D and vitamin B’s. I have heard doctors are the worst at being a patient, but not sure if it is really true. lol. Just concerned about the fatigue you are experiencing. You do have a demanding schedule. I am very impressed with your dedication and perseverance. Thanks for the videos. Wishing you the best!
I love 24 hour call, but anesthesia is one of the only specialties you might actually be able to get some sleep
lol I am here to say that I watch to hear the complaints and then the positive successes. you're doing great, but i definitely feel you on that bone-tiredness
I love the new piercings! But my rook was a pain in the pahtootie to heal… it’s the only piercing I’ve had to take out
Congratulations the last few operations went well.
I’m curious to know if inoculating c-section newborns with mom’s vaginal secretions is standard of care. Could you comment on this topic? Thanks.
how do you deal w people who are bad people though? who wrong you? how do you deal?
for how busy you are thank you for making the time to film and let us into your life. you’re killing it. 💜🩶
❤❤❤
❤
When you do a c-section do you remove the placenta through the incision or do you allow it to deliver vaginally?
Through the incision. You gently guide it out with traction.
This might be a stupid question and forgive me if you have already made a video on this topic, but how the heck do you go about getting shadowing opportunities as a pre med? You mentioned towards the beginning that you shadowed a cardiothoracic surgeon as a pre med. Do you just email these people? Call their office? I’m a non-trad at the very beginning stages of this whole journey and I’d love to get some shadowing time in to solidify my decision. Any input would be appreciated. Thank you!!!
On average how many c sections have you done so far where you’re the primary surgeon? How many are done for the duration of residency?
Well at least you didn't give yourself bangs. 😂😂😂😂
😂 this is very true!
✨✨
Are you no longer allowed to film while at work? Talking about obstacles just made me wonder if someone/thing has made it difficult to do that. (I’m here regardless…I love hearing about your work and you don’t owe any of us work footage.)
✨✨🩷
✨✨✨😍♥️
At this point did your partner not move in yet? I was hoping with him moving in you might be more relaxed or rather comfortable...oh idk what i mean but just having that support to come home to
He hasn’t moved in yet! Soon though.
Jesus is coming…. He loves you… if you haven’t accepted Jesus, then please do so today. Crazy times we are in…
even if someone's not a christian?
✨✨✨🤍🤍🤍
