The reason they cut to black after Ally's resurrection Nat20 is Brennan needed to tie about a bajillion plot threads together in a different way than he was intending to.
I think there's an Adventuring Party episode where he says without that Chronomantic watch, chances are there'd have been a player death (and let's be honest, it'd be Riz- "the son shall fall to the earth" would be Karabraxus focussing Riz until he's tossed in the air and thrown to the floor).
@@MarkusAldawn Yeah, Brennan also said that Aguefort was not suppose to die in the 2nd episode but be a mentor/guide for the party. He just made the phoenix bargain on the spot to avoid double pc kill on their first battle. He said it would have been okay if only one pc died, but the rolls were not cooperating and the damn tables were the true bad guys.
Ally's Nat 20 became the best coincidence for Brennan to bring back Aguefort and give the clue about the pocket watch.

I like how Brendan knew the BBEG was gonna be a dragon and the party probably couldn't handle it, so he gave them an OP time manipulation artifact. He introduced it on the first day, even showed off how it worked in the fight at the frat house, and at the climax... Nobody remembers the watch and it's a total party wipe. So Ally gets sent to heaven so Brennan (as Arthur) can literally walk onstage and spell out precisely how they all done goofed.

Friend of mine was in a private school which had an actual crack head for principle. Apparently it was not uncommon for him to not show up to school due to being in rehab again. Sad thing is he constantly expelled people for smoking weed n sht.
To be fair he did shoot both himself and the guidance councilor on the first day of school.

Also "The pen is mightier than the sword" only work in a roman senate where weapons were banned and they used their stylus to stab each other when a fight started.
It may also work in situations where the sword is very short, and the pen very sharp.

"Because I too don't know how to bake bread. Not with ovens, anyway." He handed one to his ward, who seemed not to care where this treat had come from, and bit into it hungrily.
"You like it?" asked the Red Mage.
The Halfling chewed a big bite and then swallowed, "Not bad. But I'd say, it coulda used some salt."
The Red Mage tasted his own work, and quietly agreed.

Me trying not to panic but grasping at straws: “Dogs are the greatest magic.”
This was genuinely the moment I realized Brennan is a genius. Putting that seed in the first episode. Genius.
It's as much his good writing as the players' bad memory that made this happen in such a way 😅 they were always supposed to get the watch from Aelwin just as they did, they were supposed to remember Aguefort's unusual mention of Chronomancy, they were supposed to put this together and use the watch on Kalvaxis from the start. Brennan was ready to tell them that through narrative when Kristen was about to die, and then that ridiculous Nat20 happened so he could have even more fun with the hint he needed to give them.

That's basically what happens, since in dnd each player turn is 6 seconds in-game and Brennon shows up in the middle of a player turn with that speech

The natural build up was so perfect, the question of “well what is it cokehead?” Leading up to the one word answer fit so well. As a dungeon master myself I’m sure Brennan is really happy about how this worked out
Gives them the hint, gives them the opportunity to obtain the watch, gives them an enemy to fight and just..... Waits in silent frustration for one of them to remember or give him a window to remind them.

The beauty of this is how he was setting up a long-term arc for the campaign, and burying it under humor.

Yeah this was like a 19 episode call back to their first five minutes on campus together. Whether you think it was all part of the plan or that he just wove it back into the plot, it is a masterstroke in storytelling.
IIRC, on their first day, Arthur Aguefort made a speech in front of all of his students, casually talking about how violence is the solution adventurers would seek most of the time, and ended it with a casual "and remember kids, that the greatest magic of all... is chronomancy !", like he was about to say "friendship" or "love", but didn't.
@@bouboulroz it was actually more subtle and clever, because he talked about friends and then he pulled off this cronomancy stuff calling it "the magic of time". It was kinda like saying that it's the time you spend with your friends that counts, in that context it was almost a genius way to put it, but with this callback it's a fucking form of art

TBF, the whole premise of how Lily protected Harry is absurd nonsense if you think about it at all. None of the other wizard parents who sacrificed themselves in a vain hope to save their children loved them enough I guess?
Exactly. JKR writes it as if it’s an oddly specific bit of obscure magic. But it’s just explained as Harry was protected by the fact that his mother loved him and died to protect him. That really is neither specific or uncommon.
The Time Turners are in two different books. Book 3 Hermione's Time Turner is a pivotal role in the story. Book 5 all the Time Turners are destroyed to avoid thinking about time travel in a war

In My Little Pony Friendship is Magic it's made abundantly clear on multiple occasions that the title is extremely literal and Friendship and Love are legitimately amongst the most powerful sources of actual magic in that setting.
And this is why “friendship is magic” is a stupid stereotype. Friends can help you but they aren’t a magic “I win” button.

To be fair, in some franchises, friendship is literally the fuel for magic. Like the stronger your friendship is, the stronger your magic is. A direct causal link in that world’s magic system.

I love how Ally plays into their character. In a table of comedians skilled in improv, they usually try to put a unique twist on things, so to lean into the “basic and cheesy” response is so accurate to character and allows for so much fun lol
