This was in the news few years ago when their housekeeper locked herself out at Rachel house while the couple were on vacation. She did not even attended the funeral because she has a taping of 30min. meal show. Since then, i stopped watching her shows.
Can the producers of this video calculate the percentage of a tip. They show a receipt for $18.95 and a tip of $2.84 and state it was a 10% tip when $2.84 is exactly 15% which is a traditional tip, unless the service is exceptional. My experience recently is that I have a difficult time just getting my beverage refilled. If I have to track down a waiter or waitress to get a beverage, they are not doing their job and don't ever deserve 15%. Yet, when I have a waiter or waitress and they give me great service and make my night at the restaurant an experience I may go way beyond 15%. If a waiter or waitress is not regularly getting good tips perhaps they really are not cut out for that career.
Why is it bad they become famous. A lot of good cooks and chefs out there and many doing good things like participating in ending hunger issues for families in need.

I live in the same area where Rachel Ray grew up, I knew a couple of people who went to school with her who used to tell us she was easier to make than a peanut butter sandwich, again, that's what they said. I also know a couple who used to run a limo company that would run her parents from one part of NY to NYC and they said her parents were lousy tippers and were total whine asses. So I can see where the lousy tipper comes from.

One 10% TIP? so what. 10% is bad to fare service. Just because she has a food centered career, the person who got the 10% should shut up and think of what they could do better. The tip can also be a message to the kitchen. I have told a waitress on a few occations that her tip was 10% because of the food. I would tell her that the rest of her tip was a suggestion to tell the manager or find another resteraunt.
So that TIP bit is not valid unless you can put the two places together.

This was in the news few years ago when their housekeeper locked herself out at Rachel house while the couple were on vacation. She did not even attended the funeral because she has a taping of 30min. meal show. Since then, i stopped watching her shows.
Can the producers of this video calculate the percentage of a tip. They show a receipt for $18.95 and a tip of $2.84 and state it was a 10% tip when $2.84 is exactly 15% which is a traditional tip, unless the service is exceptional. My experience recently is that I have a difficult time just getting my beverage refilled. If I have to track down a waiter or waitress to get a beverage, they are not doing their job and don't ever deserve 15%. Yet, when I have a waiter or waitress and they give me great service and make my night at the restaurant an experience I may go way beyond 15%. If a waiter or waitress is not regularly getting good tips perhaps they really are not cut out for that career.
