Interesting, the only time I play pedals is in pep band and stuff, so I use a ton of upper lip, so much so that my lower lip is out of the mouthpiece, i find that it's louder that way. But while I find that it's quieter this way, it sounds much better, great video!
I’ve been playing for 7 years but a professional told me I need to drop my draw more. I try but it stops notes from playing sometimes and I run out of air. Need help plz?
Try to keep more contact with the bottom lip on the mouthpiece when dropping your jaw. Imagine holding a ping pong ball in your mouth but keeping your lips closed. At the same time move your mouthpiece a bit lower. This alows more of the bottem lip to vibrate and it will help to produce the low tones. Also a bigger mouthpiece might be needed. While you play lower tones, don't forget to keep a steady stream of air. Lower tones or in other words lower frequencies need more energy to be produced. This is because of the longer wavelength. The energy needed to produce lower tones comes in the form of an air stream. The lower the tone, the more air you will need. Because everybody is different your facial anatomy, teeth, jaw, lips or other muscles or tissue play a big part in what position is needed to produce a certain tone quality. The best thing to do is to combine the information you find with your own experiences. Experiment with different positions of your jaw, tongue, lips or other body parts and search for the sound you want. Maybe also consider using a bigger mouthpiece. Bigger mouthpieces alow for more mass of the lips and mouth to be inside of the mouthpiece and vibrate. If more mass is used to vibrate it will also slow down the vibration which will result in lower frequencies. I hope this information will help you.
( sorry if this is too long) It wasn’t too hard, if your band needs it I would recommend. It’s a really easy adjustment as long as you practice low notes. If you do you’ll probably be sharp at first but as long as you keep practicing you could be an excellent tuba player especially after playing euphonium
So, I need advice now. I followed this, but the lowest I can hit is an A-1, yes in the negative range. Why does it sound like a wet fart and how do I make it sound better?
This really helped! I could never play my pedal D very well.
Glad it did buddy! Let me know whether there is anything else I could help you out with!
Damn he called you buddy...
@@loganjohnson8010 he got buddy zoned
really useful to know what my lips look like when i play pedal notes. now i can play them more consistantly. thank you very much :D
With this embouchure i can go below human hearing on my tuba, not what I was expecting
So how do you know you're playing it?
I can feel the vibration and hear the fundamentals.
What kind of embouchure is this? Is this really worth investing in an expensive mouthpiece?
Woah ok ill try this then
How to you hear the fundamental if it’s below human hearing?

M A Y O N N A I S E I’ve been thinking about playing tuba (currently euph) is it fun and is it hard to switch ?
