One other thing that most people do wrong is when walking through, you can't lift your feet the same way you do on a firm surface. When you walk through quicksand after you put your foot down, before you lift, you need to tilt your foot forward first and then lift your leg. By keeping your foot flat, you pull yourself deeper, but by tilting your foot forward that your toes is lower than you heal, you create less drag and is easier for you to remove your feet. Also if you can, don't wear shoes, rather walk bare foot, your shoes create a lot of drag. I'm 7 foot tall and weigh 140 kg, and I can run through clay quicksand, which is harder to do than normal quicksand by using this method. Do note if you do walk or run through quicksand bare foot, you can cut your feet with sharp objects.
