    #crochet #vintagecrochet #howtocrochet
** Big thank you to taelican!! :) **
The size shown in the video is the small size, all other sizes are in the written pattern and require different stitch counts which is why I only show how to make just the 1 size as showing how to make all the different sizes would overwhelm me
1,588 yards of #4 worsted weight yarn,/ Aran are needed for the small ( all other amounts needed are in the pattern)
    5.00mm hook
You really should only use acrylic as cotton will be too heavy when the dress is finished

** I don't take pattern requests, thanks so much for understanding! **

Some vintage patterns seem to need trickery to look good in pictures: pinning together in the back, forcing the edges not to curl when they absolutely would curl, sizing down so something looks fitted but it’s really just stretched. I was looking forward to learning if this is one of them, and I’m delighted to know that the picture was actually honest in this case! I love it.

This dress is amazing! I grew up in the 6o's and 70's but I don't recall anyone wear a crochet dressed this beautiful. There were a lot of strange, unusual and beautiful clothes in all sorts of styles i may not have paid attention to. There were a lot of just about any lenght skirts and dresses and stumbling thru young child and teenage years was as difficult then as it most likely now. I do remember the clothes I loved and it's possible that many people made have made one and wore it, but most crocheted things I remember were mostly granny squared, and other pattern blankets and I actually made quite a few myself. Another thing popular were shawls. I going to my prom wearing a shawl someone lent me. They went from beautiful lacy patterns to thicker warmer shawls ob and a lot of crocheted bikinis made a worn to beaches.

I just went through one of my dresser drawers & pulled out about a dozen slips. Some only a half a slip. They where so tiny. It doesn't seem like that long ago they fit me. But maybe they will fit them. They are tiny also. Like Grammy used to be. 😅

I actually made this dress and it turned out really cute and flattering! I used Peaches and Creme cotton yarn since it’s a summer dress, and I chose to make a bigger size to ensure it would stretch over the head properly. I had bought the pattern a while ago, but your video inspired me to keep going and not give up!!

Thanks for your comment, I’ve been wondering about making this dress in cotton. Are you pleased with your cotton choice? Have you had pilling from sitting? Thanks for any advice you can give me!💚

    • @epicmeow7688
      @epicmeow7688 Před rokem +1

Hi Stacy. Yes, I think using cotton was a good idea because it's a summer dress, so it makes it more breathable. I think Peaches and Creme cotton is decent for making clothes (definitely not toys!). I have not had any pilling from sitting. The yarn will probably/might pill after a while, like a lot of yarns, but I cannot say how much because the dress I made is still pretty new, and I have only worn it a few times. However, unless you are planning on wearing it frequently, I wouldn't worry about that too much! Also, make a slightly bigger size! I actually bought the pattern from Etsy and I made a bigger size than what my measurements are, because 1. Cotton doesn't stretch! And 2. The foundation chain at the beginning of the project will limit how much the piece stretches. Let me know if you want to know anything else (-:@@stacyvolek3418

@@rosemarycreollo4326 when I conquer that pattern it will become a tutorial lol , it’s a super fun and flirty little dress, I just have to keep studying and practicing with it, it uses very vague instructions and wildly confusing charts , after 3 days and 6 attempts, I had to move on for now lol

Viewing from Myrtle 🏖 Beach, South Carolina and Yes, Walmart Mainstays Yarn is Waaay softer, than Red Heart Yarn (although I really enjoy their many brighter colors) it's also less expensive than Red Heart, and gives a beautiful, plush finish to your projects.

❤I am using DK wt. I am concerned about what size I should follow because of the yarn difference. I need a size small should I use a size medium so I have more stitches to fill the gap?? Thank you for any help you can give me.

@@kathyw141 I used a g hook and 2 weight yarn. My daughter is an x small. I would use an H hook and DK weight for a small size. The easiest way to do it is work from your personal measurement or who ever your making it for, that way no matter what size hook or yarn you use you'll always come out with the right size.

That is amazing and I give you so much credit for finishing the dress. I’d be afraid to even start. I just know that it would end up unfinished in a bag. But I’d love to try. Do you have someone that could wear it. It’s too cute for a mannequin. I absolutely love it and I’m really enjoying your channel. I wish I had more time to watch. 😍

Hey I just wanted to figure out what I wanted to do after my first scarf and I honestly appreciate the way you’re teaching terminology and how to read a pattern while clearly showing it although you’re really fast for me I appreciate being taught like an adult and not like a kid seeing yarn for the first time I thoroughly enjoyed your video although for a total beginner like me in the beginning of the video a little “reminder” on what type of stitches will be used in this project would be really helpful and easier to learn like a tutorial on what stitches to expect and how to do them just wanted to add my two cents as an extremely beginner crotcheter?
