I remember watching this for the first time. It was the first movie I'd seen Kerri Washington in and I remember thinking that her scenes were better acted than anyone else's in the movie. I'm glad she is so much more prominent an actor now - she deserves it!

The choreographer for Julia's big ending dance was the one that used to work exclusively with Aaliyah - when you watch the Rock The Boat or Try Again videos, you can see the similarities in the moves. The choreographer said Julia was a natural. The filmmakers approached Julia after her dance interlude in 10 Things I Hate About You.

She's been playing 16 for 35 years is so accurate lol. Bianca Lawson is ageless. She's made her way through so many teen/supernatural themed shows. But when I saw her in The Temptations and then in Pretty Little Liars over a decade later and still playing a teenager omg.
This movie had me in a chokehold as a kid. I think it was because back then they actually promoted movies and the industry wasn’t over saturated. Movies were released at a steady pace for them to be enjoyed.

And the funny think was Sean Patrick Thomas didn't even know how to dance and Julia did. lol. And it's hilarious yall said if they won any awards because they actually did: Best Kiss, Breakthrough Male, Choice Actress, Choice Breakout Star, and Fight Scene. Yall called it!

This movie came out when I was 11, and I LOVED it. I still watch it every now and again. I will admit I was disappointed you guys didn’t like it, but you’re two grown men, so I guess that’s not surprising. Also, I laughed out loud when Mellow said you’d look like Little Bill. Throwback!

I don’t know what it is but every time I see a movie with Julia Stiles trying to be emotional and cry I’m always laughing! No shade, it’s just so fake and not real, like she’s trying her damn near hardest to be emotional and sad but instead it’s hilarious.😂
It’s a favorite for dancers 🙋🏻♀️😂❤ also at the time the dances were a bit cooler. By now dance has just evolved so far that it’s just not as impressive (same with all the other dancing movies of the time). But still a good nostalgic watch every now and then ☺️
Yep. Sometimes I watch dance acts from the early seasons of Britain's Got Talent and America's Got Talent, and the bar is soooo much higher now than it was even in 2008.

Some other movies you guys should watch are Dragon Heart, Happy Feet and Happy Feet 2, or TMNT 2014. I would love it if you both reacted to TMNT movie that came out in 2014 because I think you're reactions to it would be hilarious.
Like a lot of movies it’s cringy as an adult but had us in a chokehold as kids/teenagers (millennials).
You also have to remember that this is one of the first “dance” type movies for the early 00s before that genre got really popular. This predates You Got Served, Step Up, Stomp The Yard, Honey, etc.
They were having pretty surface level conversations about race relations and interracial relationships but they weren’t wrong. Nikki was just the wrong messenger because she did Derek wrong. Lol But Sara DID show up to a Black school in the hood and snag the future doctor and “catch” of the school having 0 in common with him and being like a 4 to Nikki’s 10 😂 So of course sistas are gonna look at that and be like… huh? PLUS the juxtaposition of Nikki and Sara. VERY different and one is painted as aggressive, angry, sexual, etc. They were giving us a “tale as old as time.” Those who get it, get it.

One of my all-time favorite movies. I use to think though when i was younger that Julia killed it with her routine at the end. Then as I got older i realized it had some good parts in the choreo but it was a pretty bad routine overall. 😂😂
