Great video. Yes the first thing I do when setting up a new LED set is to turn the backlight down as low as I can tolerate - on some TVs it looks fine with the back light at minimum and this will certainly make it last much longer.

When i replacing backlights in most of the cases if this is possible to be done i try to modify the driver circuit according to the pdf datasheet of the driver chip to have lower current to the leds to prolong their lifetime.

I had one and the led's were working, but the melty diffusor created darker patches. I think it must be replaced or maybe it could be polished out so it doesn't darken the light. I just ended up throwing it away..the replacement leds are too expensive. btw, I think it will just melt again, these leds get REALLY hot, I turned it on when disassembled, and you can burn your finger just touching them after they are one for more than less than a minute.

I put it the diffueser upside down, I see other comments as well about it. The reason why it's faulty, it's because they are allowed to build it in type of quality ;). And SHARP from what I remember is made by Vestel. You can't expect a quality from Vestel TVs IMHO. So, buy a Sony if you'd like to have a quality ;). Less backlights I replace in them.

On your next repair like this try to flip the acrylic glass upside down. That is you put the top edge at the bottom. You may have to remove tape from the top edge. Also dark areas on the glass may be smoke stain. Try remove with soap cloth and clean properly. Sometime the LED fail because glass is touching the LEDs causing damage to one or more, then the others fail. You also need to check the spacer that seperate the glass sheet from the LEDs. The space may be ok when the TV is flat on it back but may touch when TV is place in the upright position.

@@tevzTVTevatronics Right..... they are internaly polaraized and only distribute the light in that position good work sansung sharp etc trash tvs they make then for fail and burn in 1 to 2 years, tevz i see one sansung who burned so bad the acrilic they afect the lcd to with hot. Is good to change the resistores from 1.5 ohoms in the power suplay for 5 or 6 ohoms the leds goone live more time. Unfortunatly the Brands not advice the costumers and let the product go out without telling to clients they must protect the backlight using always much less backlight settings people always want brighter and brighter contrast etc, they do not limit the leds to the correct values 1 or to ohmos are always much more volts in that lights generaly 5 or 8 volts more so a 10 ohmos resistor is better protection.
I use always my tvs away from windows and hot devices sun etc and reduce de backlight at 60% settings and i have two Lg one 7 years and other 3 years and no fail leds and LG is champion in burning leds lol. Thanks for your great videos Tevz you are amazing.

You cannot flip the panel, light distribution will be different and most have edge tabs cut into them so it can only be fitted in one direction

I watch it all the time. Thank you for your interesting video. I'm repairing a TCL 4K 43V TV. The image is displayed, but some vertical lines are dark. I disassembled it, but the edge backlight was normal. Is it because of T-CON? Please help me.

      Lc-40LE700M-Sharp tv
      Something else must say:
On the backcover of the tv is written lcd but when the cover is removed you will see an led tv system!!!
By the the way some of my friend also do not believe that there are such a volt led but when they check themself they were surprised of seeing that!!!
Ofcourse I replaced 6 volt lead and it works but another on at the same model number it does not cos abut 10 leds were replaced and the light of leds are too low and we could not fix it yet!!!
