Love those curtains! I like to use those heavy sconces as bookends. Works great and I like the way it looks.

I hate paying full price for anything as well - we live near a mall and as we drive home after garage sales, we laugh and laugh and remind ourselves - whatever those people in the mall are buying, we will buy at a garage sale eventually for 25 cents. LOL

Hey Barons, have you ever seen any Reliance coffee jars? They came out of Seattle, Reliance Foods, both quart and gallon (3-pound coffee) sizes. I collect them to keep all my kitchen foodstuffs in, plus out in the quilt studio for buttons, ribbons, sewing misc. They're embossed on the outside, very nice - I love them!
Another comment - the quarts fit the wide-mouth canning flats and rings. The large jars are almost impossible to find lids that fit, since most were from the 40s and 50s and have been rusted out. Sigh. Original lids are red and dark green checkerboard pattern - very handsome! I've seen the gallon size with original lid for sale for $70 US! You can view them on eBay, now and then.
Have not come across the Reliance jars yet...

I'M A GREAT GRANMA AND I'VE HAD A FEW HOUSES IN MY TIME. MY CURRENT PROJECTS ARE A 21 YEAR OLD HIGH TOP CONVERSION VAN BEING TURNED INTO GLAMPING VAN. I'VE VINTAGE WAVERLY LINED DRAPES THAT I'LL BE USING IN THE VAN AND OLD FURNITURE AND RECLAIMED WOOD TOO. THE VAN WILL TOW A 2004 ALINER POP UP TRAILER AND IT'S GETTING A MAKE OVER TOO. I HOPE I GET TO SEE YOUR HOUSE TOUR.

Hoosier? I know similar-sized jars used to fit in Hoosier cabinets - also called Kitchen Queens. They had bins in the base for your flours, and an attached upper cabinet, usually with doors, to hold/display your other accoutrements...

I think people all over use the same term to get by someone. We do that too here when we want someone to get out of our way. The other day at a Goodwill store, I literally had a gal push me over to look at the jewelry jars they had for sale. It sucked too, because the jar I was looking at, was half price that day and she got it. Sometimes being nice can cost ya!
Awwee.. well we would never be pushy.. that's too bad people had to get physical with you to get what they wanted... :/ one of my pet peeves is rude people., people without manners.. :) lol
Oh WOW Karen! You got such a steal on those curtains, rods, and sconces. They will be gorgeous in your home. Very hard to find bargains like that around here. Most times they either want nearly full price, or they have junk and still charge too much. Occasionally you come across a few decent ones. Great job guys! See you next week. Too funny, I was just discussing this same topic yesterday about how we Canadian's say move it please. I know I've said it at yard sales before too. Loved the pillows. The drapes & rods were gorgeous. They'll look so nice with the scones. I also have seen those wallpaper troughs. If I remember correctly they were covered in a wax to prevent leaks. I think I used one in the 1990's when I wallpapered my apartment. As always, another great ride-along & video. I'm going to miss it when the yard sales are over. They are getting slim to none in my area.

Custom pillows with fringe, embroidered fabric with matching oversized tassels, custom curtain rods and the sconces are worth way more than your estimate. Conservative pricing is good, but that was way under their value.
I'm sure you're right, that's what we feel we could comfortably resell them for if we had to... but we are not experts and our values are simply best-guess. :)

We decided not to get th epillows as the color didn't match our decor. For the jewelry, unless it;s antique or solver or gold, Karen usually doesn't buy it. I think she looked through it but there wasn;t anything of value so the footage didn't make the episode. :)

Hi Joseph. We have been collecting antiques at garage sales and yard sales for about 12 years together. A few years ago my boss, as well as friends and family kept telling me that we do better than your average garage sale'er and that we need our own show, or to start documenting our finds somehow, so last spring (2017) I just decided to buy a gopro camera and start filming. That's it! :D
Bargain Barons I wonder how you find all these antiques it's hard to find here for some reason. I live in New Mexico. I go to garage sales , thrift stores and estate sales I do find little at estate sale
Karen has a few tips and tricks she uses when scanning the garage sale adds to try to narrow down where all the good stuff is going to be,, for example, if the add mentions kids toys or clothing, we DO NOT go - we find if people have children they likely do not have nice antiques. So things like that can tip you off to what will be at the sale. If it's an elderly couple, no kids, or an old part of town, then the chances of finding antiques is greater.

hahaha.. NOPE! All out tattoos are from the same artist, who's a friend, and so we get about a 50% discount on the cost because we have kept going back to him for so long. :)
