In this fishing episode we head out of Key Largo in the Florida keys and start offshore trolling for tuna. We were also hoping to catch mahi on rigged ballyhoo but it was a catch tuna fishing day! I show you how to catch tuna and then we do some vertical jigging and I show you how to catch grouper.

Hey Heiko and Dan when making a brine try to make it less watery. The ice is going to melt and your catch will slaush around, back and forth. Yes, your catch will be cold..... But beat up.
I’ve been learning a lot about fishing the keys from your channel. I even ordered some of your tackle.
Yea a catch like that will make you turn to the dark side, I myself have only had some decent hookups with the bottom jigs like that but never landed anything really solid yet so I'm still sticking to bait as my main tactic. Nice catch Heiko!

@@SouthFloridaFishingChannel that jig has an initial darting action, like an escaping bait fish, then it catches some water and flutters down, like a wounded fish. Try pitching/jigging it slower and higher also to get long drop flutters that will entice the fish to hit it. Most of the time you'll get hit on the fluttering drop. I'm working on adding some glow so I'll send ya some when I can get the glow down if you like that jig.

2 friendly tips: tuck your finger around the handle of the knife instead of on top of the blade, and second, salt your avacado before adding into the dish (it'll change your life). That bowl looked delicious! Great video.
