This is seriously the best 2D Mario boss fight of all time. Unlike the original NSMBDS, this final boss is so exhilarating. First, you fight Bowser Jr. in the presence of Bowser and his clown car damages you. After you're done with Bowser Jr., you run from Bowser like New Super Mario Bros. Wii, with him falling down at certain points with his clown car like New Super Mario Bros U and it is all capped off with...............a Super Mario Bros 3 style final boss fight. And I had only one Hammer Suit and I didn't want to use my backup Hammer Suit so this boss became even more exhilarating for me. (Yes, I'm really stupid.) Anyway, I hope that we see Nintendo using this kind of 3-phase boss fight concepts in 2D Mario games (as they have already used it in Odyssey). Thank you Newer Team for such an amazing game and an awesome final boss.
It is. But I'm also questioning why Bowser doesn't breathe fire while with Bowser JR.
@thecoolbros777 In the third phase of SMW's fight, Bowser does the same.

I love this a little more than I should. It's kind of beautiful, but epic at the same time. It almost makes me want to cry when it gets to 0:09-1:00. It sounds so much like a Pokemon battle in B/W. I almost wish it was in that game.

The storm kind of makes it intense. You first fight Bowser and Bowser Jr. It’s exhilarating! After you beat Bowser Jr., Bowser roars because you beat Bowser Jr.. Next you escape from Bowser. (Like in NSMBWii.) Koopas also appear when you escape from Bowser. After that, you fight Bowser like in SMB3.
Don’t forget to mention that the First Phase is referenced to the Bowser Fight from SMW

Phase 2 adds guitar. This one adds drums.
Listen to them VERY closely
Yes. Phase 1 is calm, while phase 2 gets a little more intense with the guitars added. And then phase 3 adds the drums followed by the guitars mixed in for an intense feeling of the music to spice it up.
For short: this final boss music gets spiced up a little for each phase.
