  • Wish you could just skip the dump station and dump when you get back home? Or maybe you would like the option for "moochdocking" camping but what about about dumping? In this video we are going to show you how YOU can dump your tanks at home (even in a toilet!) ⬇️⬇️ Click Show More ⬇️⬇️
    Part of the fun of RV life is the ability to visit friends and family along the journey. Being able to "moochdock" (which is camping on someone's private property) is a great way to SAVE on campground costs AND visit friends at the same time.
    At the time of this video, we've been moochdocking for a week and needed to dunmp our tanks. We show you how to use a macerator to dump while at home!

    Nice content! Been searching for how to's for maceration. Learned quite a bit from your video & many great comments! Now many months later, my two cents. Able to add sewer hose to extend location as required to reach dump station not just more valuable dedicated garden hoses.
    Also when wearing gloves it's important to avoid touching uncontaminated surfaces (or cleanse them!) with gloved hands; hoses, covers & caps, valves, pump, your hat....... 🤫 we have spray bottle of clorax cleanup on stand by to treat surfaces at dump station, concrete pad etc, (walking on cleanser) and spray any dripage plus a few squirts to disinfect our hoses. Then I have antibacterial soap & using water to wash hands.

    I use one at home. One issue with those extra long hose runs is that when you run out of grey tank water, you need to shut off the pump. But the hose is still full of water. Compressed air is needed to empty the hose. Not a problem when at home but when you're on the road... There is a hose end fitting available with a schrader valve connection that can be used to blow air through with a portable compressor.

    It was recommended to quickly open gray tank to make sure no leaks, promptly close and if ok open black tank. That’s what we do.

    Our daughter and her hubby must relocate for her to get the specialized medical care she needs in AZ. Their plan is to buy an RV so she can travel (she can't fly) and have a place to live when they arrive. They will be "moochdocking" at our house because i am deathly allergic to their 2 cats that are their fur babies. The information you provided will be helpful.

    This video couldn't have come at a better time. We just started our RV journey and will be mooch docking at my parents for a while. We have to do our first dump tomorrow and it will be a challenge as the clean out is up hill. We decided to try the Sewer Solution which uses water pressure to do the maceration and push it up hill.

    I have been using a masiator pump since 2007 with my coach. I have had to replace the pump one time which is not a very great job. The impeller which failed was a cost of $1.19. To date I have never had to hook up my coach to a traditional sewer line. I love my masiator pump. I have pumped into my personal septic system many many times and it’s very convenient. I have to be honest I really don’t even know how to use a slinky stinky! Thomyt

    Good morning to you all!! Thank you very much for these informative moochdock tips!! If you come visit us in Ouray, now I'll be able to grade the performance!! We have a clean out access in our house's main sewer line. It is about 5 or 6 feet higher than where our secondary driveway is. I "think" most of those macerators can lift up like 8 or 10 feet. That will be a good test hehehehe.
    Safe travels!!

    A sewer clean out on a private line is not owned by the city. The city sewer is accessible through manhole covers, but many areas use similar covers for storm sewer. Storm sewer tends to be more shallow, larger diameter, and is typically dry unless there is rain. Also they tend to smell better, but not always.

    As to the question of the length of hose: every pump has an output volume at a specific head pressure. As you add resistance to the outflow, you reduce the output of the pump and increase the heat produced. The smaller the outgoing pipe, the greater the friction, and every bend in the pipe causes significantly more turbulence. A garden hose is a terrible choice for pumping solids of any sort, but I doubt many people are going to buy that much lay flat hose.

      Ive been looking at lay flat hoses. One Problem is that they dont work coiled so youd need to carry multiple hose sections to get the length you need.

    We have the same power management system on our Winnie, Works great at auto selecting Gen, 50A and 30A, but the 20A selection is a manual process. We have a basement AC / Heat Pump System and if 20 Amp is selected it will still run but only one compressor. Keeps the coach cool as long as the outdoor temps do not climb above about 85 degrees. I am looking to install at least a 30 Amp power box at home to make sure I am not tripping a breaker. I would love to be able to dump at home but the closest clean out is in the basement floor and not very accessible for running a garden hose. There is no clean out with-in 5' of the exterior of the house. While that is a code item now, it must not have been when my house was built.

    • @GratefulGlamper
      @GratefulGlamper  Před 3 lety

    The problem with your replacement logic is that your lone macerator will only fail when you use it to empty your waste tanks. I would plan for Murphy's Law now so you will be able to complete your waste dump after a reasonable delay after swapping hoses and fittings.
    Pro tip: Park your RV over at the sewer cleanout port. Looks like a driveway over there and the view on the passenger side of the RV is nicer as well....

    • @GratefulGlamper
      @GratefulGlamper  Před 3 lety

      It does not! Try dumping a 5 gallon bucket of water in a toilet, because of gravity it drains right away.

  • @ryanstokes1360
    @ryanstokes1360 Před 3 lety +1

    Not a good idea to do this on a septic system. Under normal house operation the larger pieces sink in the septic tank and degrade there while the gray water floats out the top. Using a grinder/macerator pump leaves it all in smaller partials that can get caught up in the out flow and eventually clog the drain field. This would work fine on city sewer though.

    If you are dumping in a septic line - do not dump it directly into the septic - do it on a sewer line or access line due to you can get sick with septic gas
