I am 52, used to think I felt cheated not seeing Led Zep in their prime. Instead, I was rewarded with Rush. End of any complaint I will ever have. 3 times in concert, mind blown! RIP Neil
Michael Cutcher Wish I got to see Rush live just once. I became a huge fan when during their last tour but unfortunately didn’t end up going. Biggest mistake of my life
I saw both. And each was terrific. Led Zeppelin only once [sadly] at Knebworth in August 1979; and Rush twice: in early 1979 (Liverpool Empire) on the Hemispheres Tour and May 2013 (Manchester MEN Arena) on the Clockwork Angels Tour. I'm also glad I finally got to see Cream (at their reunion shows in 2005). Those three bands are connected = power, energy and great playing :¬)

Pointless to rank legends.

There is a channel "stickhits" that remasters Rush videos and has Xanadu from the Subdivisions Tour. Now, this video was great, considering Geddy's voice isn't what it once was and the complex demands of the arrangement. The one from the other channel will blow your mind. Saw Rush the first time on Signals tour in Germany. Saw their last tour in Portland Oregon. I took a young guy who had never seen them. He was blown away. They did such a great show working their way back through time the set getting smaller as they went. Such a great way to end it. I fucking cried. Over 30 years of the best progressive rock on the planet. I grew up with them. Yes....I admit I cried as it was coming to a close.
don't feel bad, I balled like a little child when I heard about Neil,I was so upset I had to take time off work, I teared up some when Stevie Ray passed but I hadn't possibly obsessively worshipped him like I do Rush/Neil.
Nothing but sadness -- and humble gratitude -- to Neil for providing so much joy during the formative years of my youth. Growing up in the 70s would not have been the same, or as enjoyable. I saw the Vancouver segment of the Time Machine tour in June 2011. The band played the entire Moving Pictures album in its entirety. It was a flawless, superb performance. Easily the most talented trio in rock history.
I saw RUSH live starting in 1984 Grace under Pressure tour and every tour after that. Most tours 2 or 3 times. 22 times total. Best times ever. Amazing band.

3:00ish - Kiss my ASSSSSSS if you don't like RUSH. Goosebumbs, people! Same goosebumbs I had 40 years ago when I first saw the video for Circumstances on HBO's Video Jukebox - BEFORE MTV. For me, Rush and The Who will always be my most formative musical Gods. How did they play so well for 50 years? Because they are Gods! Have a happy retirement Ged, Alex, and Neil! You deserve it. Keep releasing box sets and stuff-I'll buy all of it.
My last RUSH show was 01 AUG 2015 in L.A.. I heard PRIMUS is doing a RUSH tribute to Farewell to Kinds. I thought about going.... but after seeing RUSH many times over the years, I think I'm just gonna retire too. I'm sure PRIMUS is good.............but it's just not the same. Long Live RUSH! Going to RUSH concerts gave me so much energy and incitement on life in general. Like to other band. I really miss it, while realizing how fortunate I was to be part of the energy and mission over the years. Ironically I feel for Alex, Geddy, and Neil, because they'll never know what it was like to be a RUSH "fan".
I'm turning 60 this year....I first saw this band in 1980 i believe for the permanent waves tour at our old " buffalo Aud" I was already infactuated with this band before seeing them live....and after seeing them live Iknew right then and there that I surely will never see another band as talented and spectacular as this one...Rush! You are and always will be the greatest band on earth! Loved every concert I went to and will be forever thankful I got to absorb a lil piece of the magic you guys always delivered every minute on stage....RIP Neil.....you are and forever will be the greatest drummer I'll ever have experienced...and that also stands true to you other two masters of musicianship....Alex...Geddy....love you guys...RUSH FOREVER and ALWAYS!!!!
This was done at the end of their careers, in 2015. The song, Xanadu, was put on vinal (yes, vinal!!!) in 1977 on Farewell to Kings. Listen to that version, then listen to this one. The only difference you will find is Geddy's voice isn't as strong as it once was. The musicianship is as good as ever, maybe slightly improved, if that is even possible. 38 years... The time from the initial release to this performance... and they hadn't lost a step, IMO. The greatest Prog-metal band, ever! RIP, Neil. You will always be the professor.
Rush. Top 3 heavy rock bands ever. Up there with Zep and Gilmour and his Pinks...YUP YUP. Saw em almost 40 years ago.,still fantastic.,Treat Yourself and see these guys..there Waay underrated...maybe best export Canada has put out ? ( along with Tessa Virtue & Molsons Golden)
I feel privileged to have attended 1 show of every Rush concert tour starting with Exit Stage Left right through R40. So happy this was so much closer to the 1981 performance than in the R30 tour.
Majestic to see them playing the period correct double necks. What a concert. Could not think of a perfect way for them to go out on. Time smiles upon all men, all that men can do is smile back.
I love, love,…LOVE this recording Puts me right back in the seats of so many Rush shows I’m forever and always inspired and amazed by these three incredible human beings. Their musical bond and friendship made for the most amazing music ever created. Just my humble opinion
Probably one of the most artistic and professional bands I have ever encountered. You weren't going to get a half-assed concert or album from Rush. They knew what their fans expected and they cared enough to deliver! Long Live (and Love) Rush!!
@1:12... I watch him, and I tear up... I remember 1976, 1977, 1978, 1979 and 1981... two shows in a row at Municipal Auditorium .. weeks before Graduation... Helluva' Band.
How in the World do they memorize all that music..and play it perfectly?? They've earned every cent to they've gotten. World-class irreplaceable talent.
I have wondered that also, since even some of the same tours had different songs, and there was usually no warm up band, so they played for 3-3 1/2 hours... All Rush. To be able to seamlessly pull this off, night after night, seems impossible. What a gift to music.
A Modest man ,of multiple talents. He knew and felt personal pain and tragedy Never complained. A human worthy of our wonder and respect. A complete and flawless soul. God bless you Neil Peart.. xxx Rest in Peace Sir.. A true influence to me and millions of others ....

Always wanted to see rush just missed it it never lined up but what I did see in vids and listening to all of the amazing stories of the band ,but me being into drums I always felt like Neil was an amazing drummer and still hope to play half as good as he did . someday maybe .
Was fortunate enough to be at this concert, riding on my uncles shoulders at the age of 10. Alex inspired me to play guitar, Geddy to sing my heart out even if i sound like shit, and Neil taught me to express myself. Rush is the music of our souls.
I loved this tour so much!!!! I'm so glad I was able to witness one, if not the best band ever!! I went to at least one show every tour since the Signals Tour. I was trying to see Rush right after I discovered them during the Moving Pictures tour but my parents thought I was too young but that's ok because I feel so fortunate that I lived during this time period to see Rush live!! RIP Neil, thanks for all the great drum grooves, fills, solos and lyrics :)
I was at this show in Salt Lake City. I knew this would be their last tour, and I’m so happy I got to see them. Rush was my first concert ever at the age of 15 back on the Signals tour, October 1982! This show brought me full circle with them. Such brilliant, wonderful guys!
I have a lot of regrets about bands I could have seen. So many gigs I missed out on because I was too young to see the band in their prime, or if I saw a band, it wasn't their best line up or touring for their best album. I never saw Led Zeppelin. Never saw Black Sabbath. Hell I could write a book on all the gigs I wish I saw in the 70s and into the 80s. Never saw Yes or ELP or Genesis or any of the other prog bands I love from the 70's. So many European bands I'd love to see but they never get here. So many bands I've wanted to see and honestly, my concert going days are probably over. Hearing ain't what it used to after all the shows I did see and working in construction for so long, concerts are pricey, I'm getting old. But at least I can say that I saw Rush twice, and that lessens a lot of the regrets I have. The only regret there is it was ONLY twice.
They were legendary on stage. Im happy you saw them twice. I saw every tour from 1984-2012. I missed the last tour since they never came close to Cleveland or Pittsburgh
Seen these guys many times at Maple Leaf Gardens in Toronto, Canada. Musicianship between these three is unbelievable. Many times the crowd was just silent and in awe.
Video is a blessing on so many levels, we can go back and relive musicians and actors that have long passed and feel that connection as if they were right there with us. Rush is family. The true 3 Stooges. I have drummed now for 30 years under Peart's style. Thank you sir. 🍀🍀
The iconic Xanadu riff 1:38 in the intro is in 7/4 time. Seven beats per measure.... Very difficult to play that evenly against the intricate drum and bass parts coming in at different times. To be able to hear and play it so naturally, one is BORN with this type of talent.
Neil, you left a great legacy for yourself and all your beloved fans.....this song Xanadu means even more to me than ever......brings tears of joy to my soul...Rest in Peace...we all love you......

Me too brother, me too.
I did the same on the R40 tour. Whole second half. Couldn't contain myself that a very important musical part of my life was probably over.
don't feel bad, I balled like a little child when I heard about Neil,I was so upset I had to take time off work, I teared up some when Stevie Ray passed but I hadn't possibly obsessively worshipped him like I do Rush/Neil.
I cry whenever I listen to “Jacob’s Ladder.” A religious experience…..as are Subdivisions, Witch Hunt, The Camera Eye, Xanadu, & Working Man!
I saw this tour along with 20 others since 1975 with kiss the first time.i shed a few tears my Rush brothers. For i knew i would not see them again..
I saw RUSH live starting in 1984 Grace under Pressure tour and every tour after that. Most tours 2 or 3 times. 22 times total. Best times ever. Amazing band.
The whole world went to shit when Neil died.
You're world.

@@oreally8605 Not really, I'm not all that angry. You just corrected someone for no reason and misspelled it in the process. So no, I'm not angry, but I have a distinct feeling that you are...
@@justsomeguy4562 in the words of Alex- blah blah blah blah blah.
This is a 70s masterpiece of rock N roll. 1-13-1979 my first RUSH concert and I've been liberated and enlightened ever since.
My first Rush concert March 8 1981 Dayton Ohio
Fantastic incredible
My favorite band ever
Saw them in 2015 in Dallas Texas!!! The last concert of my following since 1981 !!! My favorite band ever !!! 15 times in concert !!!
Utah, yes mormons love Rush too! I should know because I was one for 40 years. Rush and Led, my top 2 fave bands since 79/80.
Do they sell alot of alcohol at the venues like sports, music?
Absolutely epic. Unbelievable how they sound so great after all these years. Like a fine wine.
Rest in Peace Neil. We love you!
To me its Deep Purple, Led Zeppelin and Rush. Sabbath of course, but already on Heavy Metal class.
GREAT Vid Quality!! Crisp details from front row, NICE!! Damn 40 years!! Looking Good!
I love, love,…LOVE this recording
Puts me right back in the seats of so many Rush shows
I’m forever and always inspired and amazed by these three incredible human beings. Their musical bond and friendship made for the most amazing music ever created.
Just my humble opinion
Possibly the most talented musicians there will ever be !!
Probably one of the most artistic and professional bands I have ever encountered. You weren't going to get a half-assed concert or album from Rush. They knew what their fans expected and they cared enough to deliver! Long Live (and Love) Rush!!
Brilliant footage
Greatest band ever and this song is their masterpiece
Wonderful to see the double necks out
Great post
I was this close at the Newark show and I gotta tell you, I thought I had died and gone to heaven. I will never forget it.
I love that bluesy part of Alex’s end solo.So wonderful as always from this great guitarist.
awesome vid thanks ....Only the true Rush fan could appreciate their sheer genius and
excellence !!!
Naaaa, I pretty sure complete idiots and many farm animals can clearly recognize all the Sheer
I disagree.Any normal person can appreciate their sublime talent.
Love the single cam with no cuts. Visually this is better that the produced concert videos. And that doubleneck Ric is amazing.
Geddy absolutely nailed it here holy crap! Thanks for the upload!
OUTSTANDING .
Many thanks for posting
Stunning!! I’ve had the privilege to see Rush on 4 occasions in Scotland. Mind blowing. 🏴🎤🎸🥁🎹💎❤️🔥
RIP Neil You are and will be the greatest drummer to ever play. DISCUSSION OVER!!!!!
When a song gives you goosebumps...........
Ditto
Got to see them perform this on the Moving Pictures tour.It was incredible.
A Modest man ,of multiple talents. He knew and felt personal pain and tragedy Never complained. A human worthy of our wonder and respect. A complete and flawless soul. God bless you Neil Peart.. xxx Rest in Peace Sir.. A true influence to me and millions of others ....
love the way Alex , puts in the bluesy riff parts to this solo sometimes
one of the most underrated guitarists. Yes, Clapton is great, Hendrix was great, but I've never seen them do what Alex does in this song.....
I saw these guys here in Toronto when they were just getting going. At Maple Leaf Gardens, with Max Webster as their opener. Awesome.
@ Alex Hurley
Max Webster another great Canadian band. They opened up for Rush many times

The absolute MASTERS OF THREE PIECE…in action… We thank you for your decades of fantastic music and legendary tours of live music…..😊
The most amazing recognition i have every heard is that someone asked Eddie Van Halen how he felt about being the best guitarist, he said: " I do not know, you should ask Alex Lifeson. Those "underrated" references do not fly, by night, or any day
We’ve had many good bands come from the great white north, but none can touch this one. The best ever from 🇨🇦, if not anywhere.
First time I saw them in the Civic Arena in Pittsburgh Pa, which was their FIRST American City they EVER PLAYED at in the 70's, I went TOTALLY NUMB!!!!!!!! Wasn't on any drugs or anything else!!!!! It was a time in my life I can NEVER forget!!!!!! 3 amazing Musicians that are SIMPLY PERFECT and impeccable in Everything they do!!!!!!!! There's a reason why 10 year old kids are trying to duplicate this material in 2023!!!!!!!!! WHY you may ask!!!???? If I can answer for the late GREAT Mr Peart!!??? It's simply ONE word!!!!? BRILLIANCE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Double neck time! Was fortunate enough to see them perform this song many many years ago!

Oh iam from corpus Christi Texas well my best friend Nick and I Cruz went to see Rush in 1974 at Ritz theater 🎭🎭🎭🎭🎭🎭 this guy's where on there way to the top I first bought album 2112 and Rush working man with drummer John rutsey
Always wanted to see rush just missed it it never lined up but what I did see in vids and listening to all of the amazing stories of the band ,but me being into drums I always felt like Neil was an amazing drummer and still hope to play half as good as he did .
someday maybe .
Lagu perform live terbaik, cukup 3 orang tanpa additional, jadilah live yg sangat megah dan bertekhnik 🙌
Of all Neil's kits this is my fav of all time the look and more importantly the sound.........
You need to see Masters of Resonance. It may still be on CZcams for free.
Was fortunate enough to be at this concert, riding on my uncles shoulders at the age of 10. Alex inspired me to play guitar, Geddy to sing my heart out even if i sound like shit, and Neil taught me to express myself. Rush is the music of our souls.
one of my all time favorite Rush songs. Glad I got see them live about a dozen times but still miss them and wish there would have been one more time
Zooming in on neil while doing his cowbell ditty , awesome 👌
Damn ! Awesome. Remembering Neil Peart today - miss you brother - you are a legend!
The best guitar solo ever !!
This is absolutely beautiful!! The best song they ever made!!
Seen these guys many times at Maple Leaf Gardens in Toronto, Canada. Musicianship between these three is unbelievable. Many times the crowd was just silent and in awe.
Their musicianship and craft is truly one of a kind. Amazing footage, thank you!!!! ~RIP Professor~
Best song live....PERIOD!!!
Every picture tells a story don't it..... and this one is historical. 💖 Two of the best musicians playing double neck guitars. Awesome. 💖 Alex is on fire.
Outstanding quality and good sound. Great job! One if the best fan vids out there.
Epic farewell. I wish I could have seen this in person. Rush fan since 1975. RIP Neil 😥
un humanly perfection ....RIP big man ....RIP rush ....love always .....
We're so lucky to be able watch and listen to this amazing band. RIP Neil.
First time I saw them was at the Santa Monica Civic in So Calif… I went to see UFO and stayed to catch the “headliner” and I didn’t miss a tour after that 43 shows all told. The best band ever!
6 times live!! Throughout 70's, 80's, 2000's, 2010's. Best of all time
God bless Lerxst, Dirk and Pratt! This Canadian triumvirate got me through so many tough times in my life! From 1974 to the day my father calls me home have been amazing.
