But the good thing Steve, David didn't want it. They were offered mega money at the end of the 80's to go big, but he turned it down because he wanted control over his music, not some exec. Makes him even more of a hero.
I can hear the Weddos influence in so many guitar bands these days Gedge deserves more praise its shocking how underated they are along with Chameleons
thank you so much for uploading this, i recorded this when it originally aired and i swear i wore the video tape out. i never thought i would see this again.
Ok,..leeds lost...but lets remind ourselves good things do happen in leeds The Wedding present is a top result,...always next year...we got a few quid for royalties...not all bad
@@dermot51 Well said. Never understood what all the fuss was with Wilson. Always found him to be a contrived, up his own arse knob eager to take more credit than deserved.
'Oi! 'Wilson, you wanker' this is what he faced everyday when he walked around Manchester and he loved it a strange man an arrogant ex public school narcissistic dickhead I saw him in Rafters once in 1980 he was sitting on his own
After school, a friendship walking home We fled across the fields, until we were alone To a bridge, that stood close by the sea The day that we spent there, is ours eternally I don't have to tell you I'm sure you understand The first who lay beside me Made me what I am (oh, she made me what I am) A smile, in these ungrateful times Makes all that you left me seem more worthwhile But no, I couldn't really dare To show how much I miss you Isn't that unfair? I don't have to tell you I'm sure you understand The first who lay beside me Made me what I am (oh you made me what I am) And no matter how it ends You should always keep in touch with your friends
I never got married ...but if it ever happens...which I doubt very much now I have lost the will to ask anyone,.. probabley my only reason would be to get a "Wedding present!"...imagine Gedge and co in a gift wrapped box being silly now,..But it would be fu**in hooking...anyone aggree
One of THE great bandest this country has produced. The Weddoes are still awesome to this day. A real indie band.
Agree 1000%❤️
@HenryVilla
Kindly stop that "Weddoes" nonsense.
Geddie is Jesus.
you are not alone.
I would give literally anything to time travel back to 1988.
Some times words aren't enough to describe how much you love a band, so I will just say, I fucking love The Weddo's, as much now as I did back then.
If there was any justice in the world, they would have been massive. Gedges lyrics, the original sound, the strong songs.....deserved much more.
But the good thing Steve, David didn't want it. They were offered mega money at the end of the 80's to go big, but he turned it down because he wanted control over his music, not some exec. Makes him even more of a hero.
Same here ❤️
Geddoe is Jesus.
My favorite band!!
Nice of them to get about 2.4 seconds of footage of Peter Solowka in there.
I can hear the Weddos influence in so many guitar bands these days Gedge deserves more praise its shocking how underated they are along with Chameleons
That bass line.
Ace!
the 2 people who don't like this, cannot be well.
David Cooper There’s 8 of them now. Muppets
yes it defies belief doesnt it ?
Totally, Geddie is Jesus.
Saw them a couple of times at Lancaster Sugar house when George Best was released….great band….simpler days. RIP Tony Wilson total legend
That was my favourite tune you know...
And David Gedge is an absolute gent...had a great chat with him after a show in Northampton last year.
David George like a young George Clooney there, great song
Rediscovered this after 30 years, loved it then, love it now!
Had some good nights at their concerts
Didn’t realise you had such impeccable taste Thogdad
A smile, in these ungrateful times ❤
That line gives me chills ❤️❤️❤️
Geddoe is Jesus.
Genius line!
I had this on a mix tape many years ago. Played it until the tape stretched and it sounded really weird. ❤️
The trials of our youth... the youngsters wouldn't understand these days!
Book ‘em Danno.

Keir Starmer's favourite band, but don't let that put you off.
fresh juice for everyone
Well, the single came out in 1986...but the show started in 1988, the same year as the compilation album 'Tommy', which included the song...
the versus remind me of Sinatra's 'My Way' 🤔
Gedge, fkin predictive txt something else we didn't have back then
Is anyone else welling up watching this?
Ok,..leeds lost...but lets remind ourselves good things do happen in leeds
The Wedding present is a top result,...always next year...we got a few quid for royalties...not all bad
quite...
Poor Grapper, hidden by a big TV for most of this!
Pete looks dead cool from what I can see of him from the ankles down.....
Nobby Nolevel Grappler was born cool.
Grapper.
DAvid Gedge guitars seems an Ibanez, but I'm not sure
i think you right
How are we supposed to share this with friends without it coming across as passive aggressive?
Prince William on the Drums 👍
Which year is this?
SoulStylistJukeBox
September 1988.
I was about to reply "Source?" but then I realised this was me writing on my OH's account. I can't remember how I knew this.
He kind of reminds me of Ian Curtis though albeit less depressing.
Well that wouldnt be fucking hard state of Wilson at the end what a conceited pretentious twat he was

So he was a clever bugger then. Not surprising. A hint of Malcolm McLaren...

Thanks, beautiful poetry
And doesn't it just remind you of your first?
Gedge the people's poet...... Genius lyrics!

Did you ever notice that all these songs sound the same?
Listen to them more than once and then they don't.
I bought a t shirt at their gig from their own merchandise that has emblazoned on it , all the songs sound the same 😄
Actually sounds like he comes from the UK, which is rare for UK singers
