You might want to add the idea to wear one glove each was Peter Norman's, the Australian who came 2nd in the race. He wore the same badge in solidarity with Carlos and Smith on the podium.
Norman was then ostracized back home in Australia. He was not picked for the 1972 games despite being ranked 5th in the world and setting 13 qualifying times for the 200m and 5 times for the 100m. He wasn't even invited to participate in the 2000 Sydney Olympic Games opening ceremony.
He died in 2006 and finally received a posthumous apology from the Australian Government in 2012.
Thank you for pointing that out. It's shameful how he has been ignored.

I heard Tommie Smith on the radio many years ago. He said it was a salute to empower all humanity and not a black power salute.
Next do a segment on Marian Jones' "historic" cheating at the 1996 Olympics.
