- Well I can't seem to string together one full day much less multiple days in a row to work on this car. This video is a compilation of 2 weeks worth of video clips. Work, kids tournaments and everything else get in the way. In the end I did successfully get the inner fenders for the rear installed, as well as the floor under the rear seat.
This project is really fun but given that life is always in the way, it takes time. I feel confident we can build it by the August / September timeframe for Rad Rod Magazine Ratstock 2024... but it will take some effort. I am really appreciative for all of you coming back to watch me build this.
In this particular episode, I tried to form some round rod into a structure for the metal and bailed on that. I then got some boat fenders and those looked much better, but hated my first attempt at installing them was miserable and I legit had nightmares about it for 2 days and cut them out before actually doing it over. So I hope you can learn from my stupidity.
A couple things I mentioned in my video:
Check out @the_fat_electrician for awesome content!!!
Here's a good one: • America's War Horse Ma...
RatRod Magazine: • OFFICIAL ANNOUNCEMENT ...
Thanks again for coming back.

It’s nice, good to see that you pushed past the mistakes and found a way forward… ❤
Thank you
Oh yeah, 1937-39 Chevs., are some of my fa., old cars. Had a 1937 coupe, 39 4 dr., 37 pick-up, & more. Love the styling. The 37 sedan chop, looks great,,,,Love,,,dUBS,,,
It’s gonna be cool when done … long way to go
My comment about trimming the front edge of the fender was made before he got to the part of the video where he actually did it.
What a great job you're it's coming along nicely. It's going to be one awesome ride when it's done. Look forward to seeing what you do next. 👍👍👌👌
Well… maybe the trunk? Maybe the door sills… once I’ve got that stuff done I have to worry about moving the drive train back
Such a skilled craftsmen, yet not surprised because I'm one of your many patients who have benefited by your surgical foot and ankle reconstructive skills, one of your many talents. Will be fun to watch the next phase of the 1937 RatRod!
Too kind good sir
The stance is on point, and the back seat area is coming along nice!👏👏👏
Thanks 👍
Hang in there brother you are making excellent progress. I have a habit of thinking my jobs on projects will be faster than they really are. They get done when they get down. Looks good and the sedan sits so low its sick. This will be a very nice cruiser hotrod
You and me both! I have a timeline in mine … then I create 5 other things to fix …
I hope you are feeling as proud as you should be because you are doing an amazing job with this car which is going to be freaking awesome!! Lots of challenges and opportunities and you’re making the best of it. It was nice to see Jamie - it’s been a long time.
Thank you sir!! A loooooonnnnnnnngggg way to go yet!
Using trailer fenders is a good idea as they will also give the back-seat passengers a built in arm rest.
And only $30 each!
Thanks ! Look The Great , You Car to do Very Good !
Hello From Finland !
Hey, thanks!
@@MarekMakes Thanks , Same to You !
After Ratstock you should finish of the panel work and paint it well. With the amount of work you have and are putting in it deserves to be finished off well.
Looks plenty stout. . I see fenders, and , the full 37-38 fenders ft., & rear, would really make the car. R., wheel spacers would be good. keep goin',,,,DuBs,,,,,
Coming along Nicely Good choice mounting the inner fender-wells the second time around kooks clean
Thanks 👍 I think it came out pretty well
Looking real sweet keep up the great work .
Thank you
Great job mate keep it up it's a pain but your learning . The next job will be easier from your experience 😅
Totally
Coming long looking nice!
Thanks!
I hope you are going to move those motor mounts back ? But it is nice to see you do a 4 door .
Yeah … that’s gonna be a whole other adventure
I have 10” of room to move the drive train closer to the firewall on the master
Really enjoyed this video. You got a lot done. I've had to redo a few things as well. I think a lot of us have but the way you redid the armrest looks mo better. I was thinking that you must have a very understanding wife to spend time in the garage. But hey you do what you have to do. You take care of your family and your job. Looking forward to your next video. Oh yeah the panel below the seat looks great 👍
It turned out good in the end … just gotta keep plugging along. Not sure what’s next floor by front seat or the trunk …
👍🏻If it was easy everyone and their mother would be doing it….
Hey, i used trailer fenders on mine as well but you need the two tire fenders they have a smoother radius that follows the tubs perfect you cut one in half and you have both sides. Also you can use panel bonding adhesive to attach them to the fiberglass areas so you don’t need welding prob not the best but it would work for a rat rod.
Thanks for the tip!
I looked at some of those at tractor supply but decided on these to try and match that radius by the rear door. Nothing is perfect on this car (never going to approach how sweet yours is by any means)
@@MarekMakes the way you did it works also! Thats all we can do is just build it the best way we can, cause there is many ways to do anything, and in the end you will still have a sweet ride to roll in!
Just watched your latest episode. Looking killer. So glad you realized that the first go round on how you positioned those trailer fenders was totally wrong. Looking a heck of a lot better and the bead rolling looks great as well. But I have to wonder why you have the rear floor so high. I understand that the car is on bags but the front seat area is okay correct?
So, the rear seat is so high because it sits directly over the Diff … as the body is being dropped on the S10 chassis it just happened to line up there… I think most people would choose not to chop and channel a 4 door so this would not be an issue because the diff would then be in/ under the trunk area…but that’s me gotta go and do something stupid and crazy…. The front seat will legit be about 10” lower than the back … also, because this chassis has the reverse 4 link the OG S10 gas tank will be under the floor there as well …. Lots of considerations
@@MarekMakes back in the late 60's early 70's my younger brother had a 1938 2dr Master Deluxe which we street rodded. I don't remember the diff landing under the rear seat. Anyway you could have done bucket seats and a tunnel from the front to the back to clear the drive shaft as well.
On an earlier video you mentioned you didn’t want to use spacers on the rear wheels but I’m not sure if you ever mentioned why you chose not to do that? I ask because that’s what I was planning to do for mine. I appreciate you making these videos bud! They’re a lot of fun to watch and very educational.
I wanted to get different wheels with different off-set instead, so I ordered some but they were way too wide for the car/fenders … and were $$$…. So I returned them…. But I had to do something to make what I have fit. So after I cut the wheel wells out and had a little more room I figured new tires and wheel spacers were more budget friendly (since this has a $5000 budget for the build off)
@@MarekMakes okay no worries, I was concerned because after measuring it out I knew I was going to run into the same issue with the rear wheels rubbing against the inside. But it sounds like I might be okay with spacers on the existing tires and suspension? However, I’d be willing to cut the wheel wells if need be. Thank you for your time and the awesome videos. Also apologize if you mentioned all this already. 5k is an incredible budget for this project. A lot more realistic for my budget too. I’ll end up watching all these videos again as I progress.
Awesome!!! Great to have people with similar builds happening!! Good luck!
Specifically I think the s10 wheels I have would have been fine but Part of my issue is that the s10 rear diff is actually 4” narrower than the master
Trim the front edge of the trailer fender 2 or 3 inches.
LOL
Try bending it around the wheel
Clearly I like struggling 😖
@@MarekMakes you won't learn with out trying but you are doing so well to over come the problem keep up the good work
18 minutes in and feeling you are over complicating the wheel tubs big time. Flat piece of sheet metal to follow curve and straight piece coming up from frame. Tac along seems. Done!
I have wasted so much time in so many ways on this car ….
I'm laughing my ass off watching you try to put trailer fenders in a car crooked as hell, and think it looks good! LMFAO
Dude trust me … the first time I don’t know what the neurons were doing in my brain…. I was like this is fine!! It will be good this way…. Then legit 2 nights in a row I had dreams about how terrible it was and the very next time I had to get back out there I cut it out immediately to fix it …. 🤦♂️
@@MarekMakes LOL - very wise decision, considering the time and very nice work you have put in the rest of the project! :)
