There was shade of stone cold and mick foley ecw era in that amazing (it was more than amazing but i cant think of a better word at the moment) promo by jay white. I've been a fan of his since I started watch NJPW a few years ago and this cements him firmly as ONE of the BEST of ALL TIME. Whether he stays or he goes, he has madd history with one of the best promos in the last 30 years. IMHO

Oh my god! Jay White is so friggin good! He is unbelievable. His psychology on how he keeps rolling to the outside and getting his opponents in compromised spots so he can sneak in and drop the boots and start his offense in as unhonorable a way as possible. His ring psychology is the best. Him and Ibushi are two of the best sellers in wrestling history! Jay White is gonna be the biggest babyface soon. I see a redemption arc for Jay White's story coming up. His mic skills, psychology, selling ability, look....all of it! He is the HBK of this generation and that was his wrestlemania 11 moment. Now he turns face and will have his wrestlemania 12 moment!

Damn, that was quite a tragic villain esque type of promo by Jay White! Now I get his character, why he does things the way he does. It's for recognition and approval. He has done all of this stuff, like winning all of the major single belts, and having a winning record against the big NJPW stars, he was never respected. Gave everything and proved that he is among the best in the world. Got swallowed by the abyss and suffered on his own greatness because he didn't get the love in return. He is the pretty much what Ibushi would look like if he was corrupted, that's why he is the perfect rival for Ibushi. If he is really leaving (which I don't think he will), he is so getting mauled by the Bullet club

Couple of years back when he made his debut against Tanahashi at WK, we were all skeptical of his early push, and rightfully so. But incredible work from him to go from that green, to arguably the most well-rounded wrestler in the world. Gedo got it right here.

@@KDeDom I don't think so... because Suzuki will give his spot to Taichi when he retires.
In addition, Evil is the perfect guy to feud with Jay White over the BC leadership because not only the stable has an equal number of natives and gaijins in their current lineup, but also Evil wants to become a dominant force in New Japan, and in order to become one, he must have a stable to lead (which is why he left Naito in the first place). What I am seeing is that when Jay leaves and Evil starts to ascend, there will be dissension between the natives and gaijins, so that when Jay returns, all gaijins will side with him. Therefore, it will be a 7-on-7 feud within the stable:
Evil, Kenta, Togo, Gedo, Jado, Taiji and Yujiro,
      versus
Jay, Fale, Chase, ELP, Tama Tonga, Tanga Loa and Hikuleo.

Shakespearean Switchblade. That promo had turmoil, reflection, accusation, comedy and a smidgen of self-doubt balled into one. I kept thinking, don’t cry, don’t cry…and that was to him! Epic. ‘Jamie’ spoke from the heart when he touched on his family, the hard work he put in the last 7 years. With the pandemic going on, he simply misses his girlfriend, family, pets, Florida…it’s a lonely time even for ‘Switchblade’. Maybe he’ll go down the route like his closet buddy Finlay, and settle down a bit. NJPW has treated him very well, rewarding his career quicker than any other dojo wrestler it seems. And deservedly so. Whatever the hell he masterminds next, we’ll be watching. In the meantime, give the guy an Oscar.

In my opinion, Jay is leagues above Kenny in promos and his ability to actually make me cheer for and against him. This promo was borderline difficult to watch, we have all been there. An absolute diamond of a wrestler who gave possibly the promo of the year already with the best acting blended with legit emotion and thoughts I have seen in a long time, the fact he just left the mic laying down, the frantic speaking, the way he plays with his wrist tape, absolutely stunning performance that genuinely reminded me of Heath Ledger's Joker, standing ovation for this man, ladies and gentlemen. Looks like lucky number 13 is going to belong to Mr Jay White on January 31st, the Switchblade is going to slice through all his competition to his next title

  • @JanesAddictedEA
    @JanesAddictedEA Před 3 lety +4

If you watched this entire video, saw Jay pour out every fucking emotion known to man, woman and child and NOT just to see Ibushi after the win, the wrestling world as you know it is profoundly changed. Via Jay's post-match, Ibushi's win is nearly a byproduct. It is extreme, heartfelt, truthful, beautiful, pure, overwhelming, incredulous, inspiring and brings tears to the eyes of the receiver. For me, it was amplified because he's my favorite. I watched as he not only chose to articulate as SwirchBlade Jay White then express as Jamie the person behind the most gifted wrestler on this vibrant planet. His promos always compel me, however this one truly sold me. If he leaves NJPW he's taking me along metaphorically. I don't think he is, but what the word is has been provacative. No-one is as skilled or magnetic as Jay White is at bringing forth exceptional talent to the business of professional wrestling. No-one. Added proof is in the latest match and post-match. My estimation: Curtain to bell, bell to curtain. Talk about dominant and electrifying. What happens next is anyone's guess, yet no matter what is placed before him, it's guaranteed to take him and us to levels we've not known existed. Thank you Jay.

Jeeeesus............Jay White's promo was absolutely masterful. I was hooked from start to finish and I felt Jay's emotion and desperation. Like I have been watching wrestling since I was kid (born in 92) and Jay White's promo is one of the greatest promos of all time.....hands down. The sheer wealth of emotion, the body language, his motives/reasoning for everything he does......Gedo needs to go down as the greatest booker of all time and Jay needs a round of applause, dude is the best heel in the business and added another dimension of his character, a sympathetic edge but still retained his villainous edge.
Kota Ibushi is how babyfaces should be booked, by having great determination and ambition, but not losing their sense of morals and integrity in order to achieve a higher level. A true hero is supposed to get even stronger, even when the whole world comes against the hero figure and the odds are stacked but never losing what makes him who he is and willing to go out on the shield, a lot like Captain America facing down Thanos and his legion in Avengers Endgame or Goku in DragonBall Z. The fact they kept Ibushi's character consistent is incredible. He never needed a group or to "go heel", all he needed was to be himself and push his limits to a new level.
I swear NJPW is in its own league and universe when it comes to wrestling action, storylines, character development, etc. Everything matters, even tbe small stuff you wouldn't notice in NJPW. Dave Meltzer was right, watching any other promotion after watching NJPW makes you makes you feel sick to your stomach and the other promotions pale in comparison, its not even close.

That was...incredible. The range he's showing right is putting him at a whole new level. I was always a fan of old-school tactics but this promo is just something else.

Absolutely fantastic promo by Jay. That was some of the best heel work I have seen in a very, very long time. It's going to be so interesting to see what's going to follow up after this.

Can we appreciate the wonders his beard did for Jay White, imagine him delivering this promo with his Wrestle Kingdom 12 (literal) babyface

Wow...now i like to see Jay White get to the top. NJPW knows how to create a great character. Great Promo. Great wrestling from Ibushi. Visually NJPW belts are the best looking belts ever.

That moment when he said won't you help me, at the end, could be him also asking the fans. It's a cry for help. Bold prediction but I'm seeing his redemption arc come full circle and beating naito and ibushi at wrestle kingdom 17 for the undisputed iwgp heavyweight championship

Thank you for subtitles on this! Jay is amazing but I'm glad Ibushi is our champion. I can't wait for some nice big title defences (fingers crossed).

Why people think Jay White underappreciated? He is the only young lion to get fastest push (maybe if not counting okada)
