      I don’t know if it’s possible for you to do a video or respond. I find when I call customer support at Door Dash they say things that aren’t true. Yesterday I was in the zone next to my home where I wanted to finish out my day and enjoy a break at home before peak pay. I had 3 deliveries in the zone near my home that had me delivering all the way to the far end of a different zone. Support claimed there is a radius option you can set which I didn’t see. And it seems they don’t tell you when you get the offer that they are sending you out of the zone.

    I just signed up with them. A couple things to know:
    - They'll ask you to watch a couple orientation videos (about 12 minutes total) and make you take a quiz of what you watched. At first I rolled my eyes, but honestly I wish someone from DoorDash or Uber Eats sat me down, walked me through the app, and told me the expectations (as opposed to just reading them or watching Mike haha)
    - They expect you to have at least two bags that can hold at minimum 2 full-size catering pans. Minimum size of 20in x 12in x 12in. As Toya mentioned, they must be free of any other food delivery platform logos.
    - Your driving record should be pretty clear -- no major driving violations over the last 5 years and very few minor violations
    - You must be 21+ with at least 2 years driving experience

    All add my 2 cents, you have to be very very professional on catering orders, they rate EVERYTHING you do, they call and check with pickup, how was the driver? where they dressed properly, did they have enough bags, and then on the other end they rate you as well, did the driver to the set up, were they professional, did you enjoy your experience. Also on the bags, the more you have the faster you get real $$$ orders, such as a $3500 catering order paid $480 I have done that at least once a month for my first 3 months but I also started with day 1, 20 catering bags, 2 roll wagons and 2 hand trucks, I have an SUV Ford Escape and I built and easy stackable and collapsable in my truck so I can stack 2 XXXL catering bags with no smooshing onto each other so I can take 10 big ones just in my truck and then 2 more so 12 XXXL bags in the rear and 8 more in the rear seat. Another tip AI tracks everything you do, only a 10 min window each side of the order pickup and delivery. So even though you think you are doing good by picking up early or delivering early your dinging yourself in the negative because you are outside of the windows of pickup and delivery.

      Exactly! Controlling how an independent contractor works. This is very true.

    • @camilleearhart8893
      @camilleearhart8893 Před 6 měsíci +1

      Independent contractor doesn't mean do whatever you want. When you sign an agreement or contract you're then agreeing to work within those terms. If not then they can opt you out. You're just responsible for your own expenses and time. Many organizations hire 1099 but you're bound to work within certain boundaries of the industry.

    • @MisterDopest
      @MisterDopest Před 6 měsíci

      @@camilleearhart8893 you are correct to a certain extent. If I hire an independent contractor to build my house I can definitely set the expectations of what I want the house to look like and what the expected end result should be. The contract is to complete the house as agreed. Obviously there is an expectation to complete things legally and work safely amongst other things that make sense. When it comes to the amount of control the hiring entity has over the work and the level of supervision is what distinguishes you as an independent contractor there are laws that regulate that specific classification. Contract or not, they can’t break the law and force you to sign it. They can’t tell you what to wear or require you to dress any way as that counts as a dress code. Ratings in and of themselves are also questionable. The difference between an employee and an independent contractor is the degree of control you have over the worker or the amount of independence they have. It gets pretty granular and ambiguous but there are criteria that determines the degree of control a hiring entity has over an individual. The largest category is behavioral in addition to financial and the overall type of relationship between the two parties. That’s why ratings have always come into question because the companies use the ratings as a means to essentially control how you work. In the perfect situation the rating should only serve to allow the end customer to choose their contractor as these companies only serve as a marketplace to find help.

    • @MisterDopest
      @MisterDopest Před 6 měsíci +3

      @@camilleearhart8893 no one ever said that an independent contractor can “do what they want”. There are certain behaviors that hiring entities take that push the envelope too far when it comes to how much control the hiring entity has over the work of the contractor. I’m from California and AB5 is fairly specific with what I’m explaining to you. There is also a history of case law to support my point. You are correct, if you sign an agreement you must execute the contract properly however there are actions that hiring entities take which can and are interpreted by courts to be classified as employee/employer. Please stop painting my argument as me saying independent contractors can run a free for all. Unless you’re intimately familiar with the law then there’s no more to discuss.

    • @DriveWithJake
      @DriveWithJake Před 7 měsíci +5

      Nothing you did wrong. Some losers add a good tip to get someone to actually pick up their order then remove it after delivery to save them money but ensure the food is actually delivered. That's called Tip Baiting and I'm surprised Uber is still allowing it as it is a breach of contract. Call them up and demand the full amount from the contract that you agreed to and mention that it is a breach of contract to pay less than you agreed to. I've had 100% of my tip baited orders paid in full after mentioning the breach of contract. I don't drive for Uber Eats anymore though because that's too much of a hassle and Doordash is a much better platform.
