Almost all cops are good. And just because they may be a couple bad cops, them being bad shouldn’t have anything to do with them being cops. You could have a bad barber, fire fighter, janitor, etc. Just because someone does something bad, doesn’t mean everyone in their line of work is bad

SaggyHUGGIES123 lol use your head for once... More white people get killed by cops than black people lol In percentage it is the same if you adjust for how much more black people get into crimes..
ALL officers should be trained to recognize and handle mental illness. This kid looks a little "slow" and since he's big and black, he's a ripe target for untrained officers to just pull out their weapons at the slightest odd behavior and get violent immediately. They should be trained to recognize the signs of a mentally ill kid having a meltdown who needs to be comforted. It's VERY different than an angry violent kid going on a rampage. But if you haven't been trained, you think they are the same.

This officer took the time to understand that this young man had a disability and knew how to de-escalate the situation. By simply getting to his eye level and speaking calmly was right. I have 2 members of my family that are severely autistic and ya hear so many horror stories about the mentally challenged and police interaction because a lot of times the cops don't know. This should ABSOLUTELY be part of standard training, how to calmly deal with those who are mentally challenged or have serious mood disorders. It can save lives and ultimately make those justifiably sketchy about police a little more trusting.
I agree so much I have bi polar disorder and schizophrenia which there's a name for both of them but that doesn't matter basically my point is that sometimes my anger can get out of hand easily and when you're having delusion mixed with that anger could make a police office seem like some guy in a costume trying to kidnap you mentall illness isn't a joke I wouldn't attack a police officer but if I was having a really bad episode I could see myself doing it
I have worked with kids for years and a valuable part of my training was just squatting/sitting down so you are level with them. Just getting down to their eye level really helps, standing towering over them just frightens them, if you make calm eye contact it can really calm them down. I have stopped babies crying their eyes out just by looking calmly in their eyes so they know another human is aware of them. Shouting and ranting at them never helps it is a shame a lot more parents don't realise this. Being calm and quiet can rub off on the child but instead I see so many parents getting wound up and they just make things worse. Honestly there are so many ain't shiz parents out there it's really sad.
"Officers need more training to prevent tragedies!" This Officer: "Compassion? Yeah, that wasn't in my formal training as an officer. It's just something I picked up."

It speaks to who he truly is as a person and not just a person with authority in a situation. Hopefully this becomes a normality, destroying hatred one step at a time.
In my opinion I believe this does happen extremely often and officers don’t usually be aggressive first, it’s just the media only focuses on the few bad things the police have done because they like to radicalise groups they don’t like.
Bad police officers are an abnormality. It’s just that when bad police officers do things it is more horrible than any act of compassion is good. It doesn’t help that police are trained in violence more than compassion.

It's common sure, but asshole power tripping cops are common also. Once had a cop when I was 15 get in my face and ask if I wanted to go outside and fight if he took his gun and badge off. What did I do? I have no idea. I was sitting in a starbucks with friends and joking around with each other. Maybe he thought I was laughing at him idk? Another instance I had ran out of gas on my college campus and a cop took time out of his day to drive to a gas station to get me gas so I could leave. Another instance I had a cop pull me over on a bridge next to a lake with friends. Someone said we looked suspicious and reported us even though we were just walking. They wanted to search us and after dealing with a consented search during a speeding ticket my cousin got while I was a passenger I didn't want to wait 2 hours to deal with a bs search. I politely declined saying they didn't have probable cause and he threatened to charge me with trespassing since the lake I was on was private property despite the bridge I was walking across was a highway that was public. So he was willing to falsify charges to scare me. I called his bluff and he left. Another cop talked me down from a stupid suicide attempt I made as a teen and genuinely made me feel better. There are good cops sure, but that doesn't mean we should ignore the bad ones. It's common enough to be a problem. Anytime I exercised my rights as an American citizen such as the previously mentioned bs search cops have gotten aggressive to try and provoke a response that would lead to an arrest. Moral of the story? Keep your cool when dealing with cops because they won't all the time, but you can be charged for losing your cool while they won't.

Almost all cops are good. And just because they may be a couple bad cops, them being bad shouldn’t have anything to do with them being cops. You could have a bad barber, fire fighter, janitor, etc. Just because someone does something bad, doesn’t mean everyone in their line of work is bad

Sorry man I just had to I don't wanna argue with someone right now.
I Love it
I agree so much I have bi polar disorder and schizophrenia which there's a name for both of them but that doesn't matter basically my point is that sometimes my anger can get out of hand easily and when you're having delusion mixed with that anger could make a police office seem like some guy in a costume trying to kidnap you mentall illness isn't a joke I wouldn't attack a police officer but if I was having a really bad episode I could see myself doing it
Took the time to realize there was a camera on him.
"Officers need more training to prevent tragedies!"

That’s the way we should all be, kindness goes A long Way, Thanks For U 💯🕊💜
That just made my heart smile , he treated him like a human being
What an amazing officer. We need more like him.
There are more like him
no black lives matter
Most are like him. The handleful of bad ones are the ones the left uses as propaganda to make people hate ALL officers.
@@RoRo-hw3um I would never hate any officer. It's a case by case basis. Just as any human interaction is.

1:28 this should be included in police training, proof it works and proof Force is not always the answer to everything.
The art and skills of communication with all types of people indiscriminately, fairly and respectfully isn’t taught at schools, but certainly it starts at home from an early age by your own parents and siblings, then glows and shines by experience day by day…
God bless this officer’s parents who knew how raise up a good kid to become an outstanding decent person 👏👌
Police should focus on deescalation, this type of thing here is normal in Nova Scotia, Canada. And is part of training.
Police officers should have a lot of psychological training or therapy
It isn't but stupidity does hurt when you don't cooperate.
They teach de-escalation techniques to ALL cops. They only use force when necessary. You wouldn't know that though unless the fake news made a little sob story to support it.
@Dutchy McSmoka finally somebody with a brain who doesn't ignore facts to fit in!
Weed is good, Democrats aren't allowed to partake because then they can't act all uptight and hold on to the little dignity they have left.
Really though, those pricks need to get high for once instead of using their nose like a vacuum every night while yapping their uneducated mouths in-between drowning their sorrows in liquor
It's nice to see good heart people...
But it's rare...
This man have all my respect for being compassionate...
Salute to you and may God bless u more and your family.
Love how he said "I heard something in their voices" and said "let me get over here and see what's going on" he knew it was escalating to somewhere it didn't need to go. He is what policing 🚔 should be.
He deserves a promotion. One of the best cops
he needs to train our cops
Not all cops r bad
So true but he wont bcuz he didnt kill another black man
One of a small amount American cops with brain
This is how all of humanity should conduct themselves. Especially, in situations where good communication, respect, patience and love is warranted, needed, etc.
So true. 🤗
Yes and Floyd had none of that he was criminal
@@jamesa9lpiopatton419 neither did derek chauvin 🤷🏻♂️
@@anonymous-ns1xd yes they were both horrible people.
@@jamesa9lpiopatton419 Jesus bro you are so full of hate. It's disgusting. Get a life and stop celebrating the needless death of man about whom you know next to nothing.
God bless you for the compassion you gave from your heart.
Is beautiful to see and Police officer that truly cares! And help out a young man that was in desperate need …
Special Thanks to Officer Purdy for being able to temporarily stepoutside of his training and treat this unfortunate child as a human being. You deserve all the good publicity you can get. May this also serve as a benchmark to other officers who wish to change the perception of the police force in America.
Thats what a police should be doing, not putting ur knee on someone's neck.
Not all cops are bad
@@sick_beets2220 and not all blacks are bad
@@richmond2921 yea goes for both
@RICHMOND And not all cops are white.
@@MrNamine i never said all cops are white, the one in the video that i was talking about there was also an asian cop.
Thank u for using compasion instead of violence .
We need more good men like this on duty. Love this video. Sometimes all someone wants is to talk and when you can take them and take the time to listen u might find a happier person to deal with.
@Josh your right.
“showed up armed with compassion”
The second I read this it just said that I’m the video.
Jack Hudson read it as he said it lol
yeah. the news and their puns.
“Their uniforms don’t make them all racist murderers, just like how the skin color doesn’t make them all criminals” - free hugs guy
Edit: I feel like I should delete this comment because it’s stirring up a lot of arguments.
Another Edit: Alright thanks everyone for your support. I won’t delete this.
Toori Baba not all police and black people are like that
@@Promare2019 most of the Police is like that
nopak but not all
nopak most cops are like this dude. The biggest difference between a cop and a medical professional, is how dangerous their work is. An officer goes to work every day with the knowledge in the back of his mind that, while trying to keep people safe, he could be killed with no warning by some crackhead with a gun or propaganda infested jackass. And to be *hated* by the people you’re there to protect.
Imagine the level of selflessness required to even *think* about doing that for a living.
@Toori Baba @Tina Kilburn what tf do you mean?!
So incredibly touching and kind!
This is to serve and PROTECT! Well done story, i remember this awhile ago and it was nice to see it come back on my feed to see again.
This is what real policing is about. Let’s see more stories with happy endings like this. Well done.
Yes, becauee Police don't have to chase down Society's scum on a daily, do they? I wonder how long it would take the average person walking the beat before they become jaded by the utter chaos this world really is behind the iPhone and Netflix world people live in. Personally, i have had little to do with the Police, i wonder why 🤔
This police officer knew there was something not right he approached the young man sat down and talked to him, what a wonderful human being and a good police officer, his parents and family must be very proud, I wish him all the best for his future, may God bless and watch over him and his family always.
Sometimes all we need is some one to talk or someone to listen
You sir, officer, are a role model for others to follow. So much can be accomplished by showing love and understanding. I wish the world would filled with police officers of your statue. Congratulations to you officer 👮♀️ for an outstanding job
This is how all officers should be thank you so much officer I appreciate you so much.
“Was this a part of training? Or just something you’ve learned over the years?”
“Just something I’ve learned”
THEN MAKE IT A PART OF TRAINING
Absolutely!
👍👏👏👏👏👏
Exactly
It's gonna cost a lot of money to train them for every special scenarios
@@thepowerlies They have spent too much time not being trained for anything other than approaching situations with apathy and ignorance.
