China has the will and the resources. They have a laudable number of successes uder their belt and a solid plan going forward. Whether they design it themselves or steal it, they will have the technology.
Meanwhile in the West we are content to bicker among ourselves and print trillions to pay for nonsense. The overall strategy seems to be that the important things can wait. We'll just stall 'til the last possible moment, then trust in a Hail Mary pass to save the day.
This is a bad strategy, IMO.

I believe in 2026 Elon should land Astronauts on Mars for the first go around then in 2028 ,begin constructing a small base big enough for 12 astronauts. Every 2 years ,increase the Mars population until a research base is established for 250 workers , scientist ,Cooks, Mars food farmers , communications specialist , DRs and list gos on. They should be there for 30 years or so studying Mars. If Elon wants to build a city on Mars then he better get realistic.

    My take:
    --- Sample return ---
Robotic missions to Mars are very exciting in my opinion. I'm really looking forward to the future sample return missions by both CNSA and NASA as they are guaranteed to give us an enormous scientific boost on Mars science. If everything goes to plan (which is never a guarantee in space travel ofcourse), then yes, China will be first to do sample return from Mars. But NASAs samples may be more varied and give more information if they are collected over a larger area. Either way, it's a big milestone for humanity once we get those samples.
    --- Manned Mars Mission ---
I'm not so sure about manned missions to Mars. They are extremely difficult and anyone thinking about it must weigh the extreme cost to the vague benefits. It would obviously be a great symbolic moment for all humanity if we ever manage to send people to Mars, but I'm not sure if it's doable. Either way, I highly doubt it'll happen before 2050.
    --- Colony on Mars ---
Building a Martian colony is something I simply do not believe will ever happen. As in EVER.
I can't see how it makes any sense financially, and it might not even be possible for human physiology to live on Mars over time. And even if we can make humans survive there for a while, it will be a terrible life.
Mars is a dead, radioactive desert that is extremely hostile to all forms of life, and it will remain that way.
Terraforming is not something we have ANY technology for, at least on this side of year 3000, and even then it would probably take thousands or millions of years to change Mars into anything resembling Earth.
    --- The Moon ----
I think that a more important part of the space race right now is the return of humans to the Moon. NASAs Artemis seemed to be in the lead for a long time, but after choosing the nonsensical "Starship" as well as the ongoing issues with the EVA suit, I have very strong doubts that they'll be able to land before 2030.
China will land on the moon AND build a base there in the 2030s, and so may well be first. I would personally love for the first woman and next man on Mars to speak chinese.
--- My guesses for time frames ---
    - Human return to the Moon will happen in the early 2030s, and they will probably be chinese.
    - The Chinese Moon base will take shape in the mid to late 2030s
    - NASA may be able to follow, but I don't think they'll be in the lead anymore.
    - A human Mars landing will not be before 2050, if ever.
Final point: SpaceX will never get to Mars with humans.
If they could get Elon to sit quietly in the corner and stop interrupting with his stupid cartoon fantasies, then they MAY be able to develop a human-rated Moon lander and possibly some robotic stuff for Mars if that is something they want to do. But that requires cancelling the nonsensical Starship as soon as possible, before the money runs out.

    • @HamburgerHelperDeath
      @HamburgerHelperDeath Před 2 lety +2

You’re way off. We’re scheduled to land on the Moon again in 2024 so worst case, probably 2026. Also, if this was 10 years ago I absolutely bet you would have said Elon wouldn’t have reusable rockets by the date he accomplished it.

    • @Antares2
      @Antares2 Před 2 lety +2

@@HamburgerHelperDeath I don't think you've paid attention to the current delays in Artemis. Not even NASA says 2024 anymore.
The Falcon rockets made sense. I was almost what you may call an "Elon fan", or rather a SpaceX fan, back when they were trying to land the boosters and finally made it. Falcon 9 is impressive and innovative. I had a lot of respect for SpaceX when they made it, including Falcon Heavy...
... But Starship does not make any sense. There are all the technical things like the idiotic number of engines on the first stage to the "chop-stick" nonsense. Landing a huge rocket right into the ramp is guaranteed to destroy it very quickly. Once you get one "rud" or crappy landing, the entire launch site is gone. The launch site they've spent more than a year building.
Even if they could magically make Starship/Superheavy NEVER fail, the architecture doesn't make sense to me. The fact that it needs 10+ refueling launches to leave low earth orbit is absolutely ridiculous.
I will never understand what NASA was smoking when they saw this architecture and said "that seems like a good plan". The fact that you'd have to spend tens of thousands of tons of propellant and more than 10 high-risk launches to send ONE lander to the Moon. You ned ten or more dockings and fuel transfers in LEO? It's absolutely ridiculous and anyone should be able to see that.
Finally there's the financial aspect. How is the Starship EVER going to be financially feasible? Even if they could actually make it work (enormous "if")... how is it going to make any money to pay for continued flights and building more ships?
There is no satellite launch market for "100+ tons to LEO". And it is not even GEO-capable without refueling.
The only reason it exists is because Elon Musk is a man-child that wanted to create a big rocket based on the Tintin cartoon. He even wanted 3 fins until they realized that it would never work on reentry. Rule of thumb: When you design anything based on old cartoons, you are on the wrong track.

In addition to achieving the detection distance of 100 astronomical units in 2049, China will also plan to achieve the detection of 1000 astronomical units by the end of this century, and even set the target at the distance of more than 10000 astronomical units in the future. According to the current theory, this is the outermost structure of the solar system - the Oort cloud.Current theory holds that the outermost boundary of the solar system is at 50000-100000 astronomical units. If we want to explore such a remote area, we need more advanced power equipment. Maybe we can't realize it until the advent of solar sail.

Second would be the Chinese people themselves who can understand and read Chinese papers and news. China just like the USA will only reveal small details, and unlike the USA, China is doing all this alone. No European, Canadian Japanese agencies to help with tech or resources. China is the biggest threat why? Because China has surpassed them, it doesn’t matter how much they have tried to stop China’s development by banning them from access to tech and cooperation. There’s just too much willpower in China to succeed and never ever be in the position it was in during the 19th century when the country was invaded and controlled by Europeans. On the other hand China has never considered them a threat, because it knows it has the upper hand and that it can’t be stopped 🇨🇳✨🚀

regardless who go first, it will be a big step for humanity and I am sure China would not be able to pull the follow up mission alone as a country, surely multi countries will be involve

Channel went from decent to just, down the drain man
You literally uploaded videos stating how "Nasa" will beat spaceX and then how "SpaceX" will beat Nasa
Rest in piece the soul of this channel, dearly missed

Now China will beat both 😂😂😂😂 sounds like Chinese propaganda to me ain't no way China is beating SpaceX and NASA to mars . What is China's equivalent to the starship they don't even have reusable rockets how will they bring back their crew ? Didn't think about that did you . Unless China treat it citizens as expandable 🙃

Here's the neat thing about the future: it can follow multiple possible paths. It's not contradictory to explore how each of those paths could play out.
