Because...........it's a sense of hope that masterfully crafted music can survive in this world of technical mumbo jumbo. We lived it. We experienced it as a mind, body, spirit event each time we listened and we were aware of the intricacies, but we couldn't have imagined or predicted where "music" would go in the future..........let's hope that true vocals, instrumental mastery, and lyrical significance can re-emerge in these days of ignorance, fear, and digitization.

The most magical era in modern music history. YES and others were actually creating the various diverse styles of this new genre one album at a time so you never knew what to expect next unlike today's more generic music era. The greatest influencers were all unique to themselves & YES moved to the top because of their imaginative skills at incorporating seamless changes in timing, rhythms, textures and moods all within each song while producing longer epics for their growing hungry Prog audience. This quintessential 5 Star line up also created the masterpiece album CTTE.

This brings me back fifty years. You can't imagine how big an impact Yes, ELP, and The Moody Blues had on an impressionable 15 year old. This, Jeff Beck, and Santana's Caravanserie completly changed how I listened to music. Welcome to the madness of the 70's that brought us Rush, Kansas, Zeplin, Heart, Queen, and a host of other bands that shattered the imagination of a generation. For teens with no other social media avalable, this was their go to form of communication. You can't imagine how important this music was to me and my friends, enjoy.

You are off to a great start. But you knew that a few weeks ago when you discovered YES. In 6 years ('71-’77) they composed and released 6 extraordinary albums, including a 2 disc set.
The Yes Album-Fragile-Close to the Edge-Tales from Topographic Oceans-Relayer-Going for the One. Progressive Rock evolution at it’s most pristine. Squire’s bottom, Howe's frenetic frets, Bruford/White’s subtle/bombastic skins, Wakeman’s contolled passion on a mountain of Keyboards(he also has 96 solo albums) and of course Jon Anderson, our YES cult leader with pipes from heaven and lyrics from a cosmic mind. Go, or Go ahead.

It's OK to have a "moment" during Yes. It proves you are human
    Um, ELP "Trilogy"?
The Beatles had moved the bar so very high that any band wanting to get into the market had not only clear that standard, but jump way over. There are literally hundreds of hours of music at this level (and level plus). Leaving you to discover.... :)

Yes can be challenging for a listener who isn't familiar with Classical, Jazz and album oriented Art, Concept an Prog Rock. They often play complex and dense polyphonic and ployrhytmic music, accented by some of the most gorgeous melodies, harmonies and singing that you've ever heard.
Newby listeners who are unfamiliar with Prog will often go from, "What the hell is this crap?" to "Who is this? Wow! That's beautiful".

I suppose you are right, back in 1975, at 13, I wasn't a loner, I had friends, but not friends who cared for YES. I did have an older brother with a huge record collection, and a killer stereo.
After consuming everything Yes had done by then, I could always count on Yes to take me out of this world, with not only Jon's cryptic lyrics, but the fact that they were the best musicians
creating compositions which were beyond anything else I had heard. Sitting alone with Yes cranked up is transcendent, and You haven't even gotten to Tales From Topographic Oceans yet.
When you title a song "The Revealing Science Of God" that sets the bar pretty high right there.

If it weren’t for reviews like this and the comments which follow, we might forget how special this song, and so many others by Yes, really were.
    Thanks for this video.

Just to let you know.....most of Yes songs are based out of spirituality, Classical music, and Jazz music. So, every song is a Masterpiece. I want you to react to their well known Masterpiece classic, "Close to the Edge."

That look of “WHAT IS GOING ON?” 😆 It does take a few listens to be ready for the changes. Then it’s REALLY cool!

Can't beat the combo of Squire on the bass and Bruford on the drums! Add in Jon's vocals, not the mention Steve and Rick and it definitely is special!

All of them wizards at their craft. This came out when I was 12 never ever gets old. The best concert I ever saw Yes in the round at the Omni 1977.

I love the drums on this. You need to hear, " Fracture ", by King Crimson. Man, are you in for a ride.

This song doesnt occur in a vacuum. Its position on the album musically is important like the 4th movement of beethovens 9th symphony is important...

Jon Anderson has always been one of the premier voices in rock. Of course the whole band is great. it's funny watching you trying to anticipate the song as it goes along.

Choir boy Chris Squire's voice could have been lead in any group. He actually was a choir boy, was told to get a hair cut and sent away from school. He never got the haircut and he never went back to school
