The better way to do it is to have two taping bits. You leave the first one pointed as it is. The second one you cut off the pointed end square. You then use the first pointed one to start the tap, about two turns. You then use the one with the cut off tip to finish the tap right down to the bottom of the stripped hole. This will allow you to screw the entire heli coil in without having any portion of it protruding from the hole.
you said it right but in any case due to the low aluminium quality won't even reach 7Nm torque which is essential to have a decent connection. There are better alternative to the helicoil allowing these cells reach a 7Nm but somehow overtime they get loose no matter what... at least for vehicles applications
