Hi Kamon!
Did anyone tell you already that you look more like an astronaut than a beekeeper in this suit 😁 That’s the second time I see you in a full suit but still it made my day once again 😂
I also use a full suit most of the time. Right know basswood is starting in my location, had a few days of rain but I hope it will clear up. Have a nice bee season!
God bless all beekeepers around the world!
Best regards!
I just checked out the Commercial Bee Supply they are also known as the bee supply store. I ordered some Golden Cordovan Queens from them back in December last year for delivery on April 5, 2024. I got a reminder email from them on the Wednesday before. After I drove for the hour and half to pick them up What I got was Not what I paid for. I got their regular Italian Queens a cheaper bee. I will not trust them to send anything correctly again. They did ask what they could do to make it right and I said send me 1 or 2 of the queens I paid for. I have not heard anything from them again. I now question anyone who would recommend them for anything.
really dumb question here, but what do you do with the other 2 frames removed to make room for the feeder?
@@justinmoody6721 sometimes when we add the box it is with foundations so we just add 8 plus the frame feeder. Other times we pull them out and give them to another colony or make splits.
@@kamonreynolds would it maybe be a good idea to ever remove ones already capped with honey and freeze them for later on in winter when you stop using liquid syrup? Add the full frames back in and switch to sugar bricks or patties or whatever?
We are READY for a video from Laurel . Please please please. The Queen Bee needs to speak.😂😂😂. Thanks to you BOTH.
Wow, I was complaining about not having enough rain. Not great, but better than feeding by June 1! Hang in there.
Thanks for the video Kamon!! Happy birthday Laurel! Have a great day Y’all 😁👍
As John Denver once said, "Some days are diamonds, some days are stone".
I do the same thing only on a much smaller scale. A 5 gal bucket with Cpvc pipe & fittings, a water hose for camper, cordless drill & drill pump.
We cought 2 swarms in may. 1 has about 500 in it and a queen. The other 1 has about 1500 and a queen. Both laying good.
Yep rain made the flow in my part of southern illinois. Rain 2+ days every week. Bees have been using it as fast as they bring it in. Except for 1 or 2 hives that have managed a supers worth.
Great information Kamon. You have a great set up for feeding bees!
Cochrane / Calgary are just starting the flow now. What a huge difference
Good day from Mt Pleasant Tn
Thanks for sharing Kamon and Laurel
Our pleasure Russell!
Happy Birthday Laurel!!!
Our flow in southeast Alabama has been amazing !!! Been through clover, privet, and now on to tallow for a little while !!
The sound on this one was BETTER then when you use your microphone
Looks like you can cut the PVC outlet pipe shorter to reduce the overflow.
It is that long so there is no bending and it works best if you have 4 way or 6 way pallets so you can get all or most at the same time
@@kamonreynolds You don't have 4 way or 6 way pallets, so cut it off.
@@kipglass6222 not that you know about! I only have 12 4 ways but I am fine with waiting a second or 2 longer
Glad I caught your video 2 weeks ago. Had no idea there was no flow (duh rain). From Nashville.
Just make sure Uncle Sam can’t get in yer pockets lol 😂
Happy Birthday, Laurel!
Thanks David she says thank you!
Wish we could get some of the rain you're having. Here in Tampa, we've been as dry as you are wet.
Wow that is bizarre! Life is funny like that! Hope you get some good rains soon!
Over by Woodbury we've had 37" of rain so far this year according to the TVA.
Thanks for sharing kamon! Great video!
Saw the end off the pipe.
Kamon....two words...Miracle Mist! That suit deserves it
Drilling a small hole right below the ball valve on the pvc would let it breath draining the water out. ??
5500 for the pump!! That's insane. I hope to get to that level one day...
A trash pump from harbor freight and a few fittins can work really good!
Hey Kamon, have you ever used an ultra breeze suit? I've had mine for years and love it.
Yessir they are really good suits. Very close second to these. In some ways they are superior.
I think Man Lake has a gas pump stile handle valve that is one handed operation for sugar syrup
That what I was thinking about getting a gas pump style handle.
What is the purpose of the straw in the feeder?
Won't the bees put the sugar water in the honey Soopers and give you funny honey thanks :-)
Hi Honeybees1 Our honey flow is done for the year and there are no honey super on
It's so weird when you said Commercial Bee Supply. They are based out of such a small town in ND.
From what little I know there isn't a lot of big towns up that aways to pick from! I have been to SD. Pretty country and good folks
@@kamonreynolds not a lot of big towns but a lot of commercial bee keepers. Google "ND Apiary Map".
How many hives can you have in one bee yard? I live in the country and have 28 hives around my house.
Question as a new beekeeper. Won't feeding like this effect the taste of the honey that you extract?
The honey flow is done for the year. In my area no more surplus honey will be produced until April of next year. We definitely pull all the honey first before feeding.
Greeat video Kamon th bee supply is sold out of every thing.
Thanks Frances! I guess maybe they are having logistical issues
If fed too much sugar syrup, won't the bees start producing honey with the syrup instead of nectar??
Thanks for the video. What time of year do you typically stop feeding syrup.
November. We take it on a week to week basis
is that the truck you purchesed last year? 🤣🤣
It is! Funny how I still have it!
How many hive do you have?
Kamon, what ratio of water to sugar are you using? 1 to 1? Bob Binney & Cory Stevens had once suggested to mix in a bit more water , more like 1.3 to 1.
Hi Gloria! We are doing 1:1 right now since these bees need to gain weight and draw some comb. Once they are big and don't need much feed we will thin the syrup to 1 pound of water to 3/4 lb of sugar
Heavens to Murgatroyd?? Where have I heard that before??
put a gas nozzle on it
Why is the pipe so long?
How do you load the feed system into your truck without a forklift?
Hey Jareth I pump it from the tank I mix it in on ground level. Happy Beekeeping
@@kamonreynolds I meant the pump and hose operation from TBS. Maybe it's not as heavy as I thought and you and Laurel and just lift it in!
@@jarethgroves8194 ah right! A hoist system
Looks like pvc....why not just cut off all but 6in?
It needs to ride down the road in the holster, makes it to where I don't have to bend over for nucs and single on the ground, and it can reach all of the hives I have on 4 way pallets. I don't have a lot of 4 ways but that is part of the reason.
where are you from here?
I got a ProVent from Mannlake and I WAS happy with it for about 3 weeks. I've been stung through the suit 3 times now and I discovered yesterday that the seam in the crotch is busted, Thank God I didn't get any bees in through there before I noticed it. The veil design is also bad, comes down way too low. It's no wonder they've been on sale.
I have the Guardian 3 layered mesh ventilated jacket with the pro veil that unzips so I can get a swig of something to drink when needed, and I've never taken any stings threw it.
@@marccocherell5339 yes I've learned with this suit that the 3 layer mesh is the best. The single layer puffy crap is no good.
Who wears full pants under a bee suit in June?? 😅
Me. Always.
me too
That just defeats the purpose of ventilated pants! Just boxers for me!
I wear long sleeves in long pants because that material is itchy
I like to sweat!
Robbing?
