The plaintiff is suing the defendant because after she loaned her a car, the defendant allowed her then-boyfriend to drive it, and he got it impounded. The defendant admits that she and the plaintiff had been friends for a long time, but she claims their friendship was one-sided because the plaintiff is selfish. She believes the plaintiff should be suing her ex, not her.

what does she mean everything shot up when defendant moved in ? The only thing that shot up was the utility bill and the grocery bill. Nothing else shoots up if somebody moves in with you because you already paying the rent. Your cable is the same. Your phone bill is the same unless you have a long distance plan that is limited and they were making a long distance calls on your phone.

Didn't Judge Mathis serve some time in jail? I think the litigants mention their own jail time to form a connection with the judge. Often times a lot of information given is not even relevant to the case. In this situation, their serving time in jail is not relevant and I'm not even sure why it was mentioned. They didn't meet in jail. They were friends before serving time and they didn't serve time at the same location.
