Whilst ignored officially by Irish politicians, who pay lip service to Irish Nationalist myths that all on the island are one nationality, when tested the Irish recognise this undeniable fact. For example it has been alleged that during World War 2, Churchill offered the then Irish leader, Clan Chief (An Taiseoch) E. De Valera - a strident Republican - a united island if Ireland entered the war.

Ulster has always been different from the rest of the island. Ninety years ago, when the first Provisional Government of Ulster was set up in response to the threat of a Dublin-based parliament, Edward Carson stated that "We must be prepared... on the morning of Home Rule... to govern those districts of which we have control." That proved to be the six counties of the present-day Ulster state. Modern Ulster was reborn on September 28th 1912 - Ulster Day.

So?, 3 counties, Donegal, Monaghan and Cavan, lie within the territory of Rep.Ireland. Over the past 2000 years..., Ulster's boundaries have ebbed and flowed like the tide. The 6 County area contains Ulster heartland. The fifth ancient province, Meath, was sliced up between Ulster, Leinster and Connacht. In the reign of Queen Elizabeth I, Ulster was given Cavan. County Louth, especially the area around the Cooley peninsula, is an ancient part of Ulster that is now within Leinster.

Whilst some confusion exists about their identity, even amongst themselves, the Ulster people, variously known as Ulidians, Ulster Scots or Ulster British, are a completely separate nationality from the Irish. The main reason why Ulster people do not want to be part of / be annexed by Ireland (the Republic of Ireland) is that they are not Irish. To Ulster people, Ireland is a foreign country with a culture and ethos alien to them.

My kind? What kind is that?
Ulster was never Irish, never was historically and should never ever be Irish, just like the Falklands was never Argentinian either, it existed long before Argentina ever did.

Con't..Irish nationalism is based on the mistaken premise that all on the island are one people / one nationality; this renders it fundamentally flawed.
Nationality can be defined as the origin, history, culture, heritage and identity of one people that gives them a different outlook from other peoples. Undeniably Ulster and Irish people are separate nationalities.

Ulstermen have as much right to call their homeland 'Ulster' as the USA has to call itself 'America' and the Poles have to call their homeland 'Poland'. Poland's current boundaries bear little relationship to its boundaries in 1919. That nation's territory has shifted sideways to the West. Few people will deny the Polish people the right to call their state 'Poland' even though it no longer includes 'ancient Polish' territories that are now part of Lithuania, the Ukraine and Belarus.

actually they spoke Scots Gaelic and held close cultural and genetic ties to the Celtic tribes of mainland Britain. My religion (Celtic Reconstructionism) encourages us to study the ancient history of our land and its people which is where I get my information from. You just don't like the sound of the truth which is unfortunate for you. nevermind! Feel free to join the rest of us in the 21st century when you're ready, bigot
