    Ah, my dear Debussy. How I long to visit Saint-Germain-en-Laye, the museum, Paris, to walk in Debussy’s footsteps, to be inspired by being where my personal muse lived. I have had a love affair with Debussy’s music since I was a teen.
    Hendrix sang of music as I feel about music in his blues-rock masterpiece Manic Depression as he soulfully mourned, “music, sweet music, I wish I could caress with a kiss...” Were music a woman, I’d be forever in love.
    Thank you for sharing!

    Why has there never been a masterful biopic of Debussy?

    That woman on the photo was Russian wealthy widow. Her name was Fon Meck, Nadezhda Filaretovna. It doesn't matter with debussy. It's relationship with Tchaikovsky.

      Debussy was in Russia as a young student in 1880. He was engaged as a piano player/teacher. The relation with the family came to an end 1882 when an affair with von Mecks daughter Sonja had risen in the horizon.

    Does anyone have additional information about the photograph of young Debussy shown at the 1:50 mark? I'm very confused by it because, on one hand, it doesn't look (at least to me) like any other pictures I've seen of Debussy as a young man, and secondly because, well, I have to admit that he looks a lot like me when I was younger! I find this "resemblance" shocking, especially since he's by far my favourite composer :0

    • @ethierguillaume
      @ethierguillaume Před 6 lety +4

      Ok, I've done my research and it's not Debussy on the picture, but rather writer Pierre Louÿs! I apparently look like him then...

    His last residence is now in Avenue Foche (formerly Avenue Boulogne), almost at the edge of the Bois de Boulogne.
    It is a bit of a detective work to find it. You have to enter a closed yard, waiting for someone to exit, so that you can slip in - and there in the far corner, you can spot it behind a gate - exactly as on the photos. Nothing has changed. It belongs to some Arab princess today - of course, one is tempted to say.

    Sorry, but...at minute 1:55, that photo looks NOTHING like the young Claude Debussy! - his father, perhaps? I hope you can clarify this for me - Thank You.

    Debussy (1862 - 1918). Tchaikovsky (1840 - 1893). Debussy have two successful marriages. One of debussy marriage relationship was Emma Bardac. Another of debussy marriage relationship was Rosalie Texier, non Nadezhda Filaretovna von Meck

  • @howardlitson9796
    @howardlitson9796 Před 3 lety

    Debussy one was in French. Fon Meck, Nadezhda Filaretovna another was in Russian. How could it be possible to determine the relationship?

  • @howardlitson9796
    @howardlitson9796 Před 3 lety

    Debussy's first wife Emma Bardac was french famous singer. Tchaikovsky's first wife Antonina Miliukova was saint petersburg music conservatory music composition faculty student.
    Debussy's second wife Rosalie Texier was french businesswoman similar Russian businesswoman Nadezhda Filaretovna von Meck.
    Their rank of entrepreneur were similar to same, but their life were different. Rosalie Texier was not widow and Nadezhda Filaretovna von Meck was widow who lost her husband. So that Tchaikovsky just only have one successful marriage.

    • @The1976spirit
      @The1976spirit Před 2 lety

      Debussy met Nadeshda as a young student. Emma Bardac was his second wife. Debussy liked german beer and to walk in the forrest. He had the same intense blue eyes Hitler enchantet his fans with. Lily nearly committed suicide to punish him, but Debussy found enaugh money to pay the taxi to the hospital, Hitler failed on a similar occasion. They both covered their behavior with a world war afterwards. Tischgespräche or œuf au plat, never ever disturb a guy with intense blue eyes....
