I love how seemingly mundane this is. Not even quite horror, could just be a hobo and an urban legend, but still spooky.

excellent video, very creepy! The idea of the unknown entity knocking on the door is not a new one. Throughout history, myth and legend speak of supernatural entities that cannot simply enter a home without an invitation. An invitation like opening the door. The knocking----especially three times----often has a part in these legends. Think about legends like vampires or the black eyed children. They cannot just force their way in, they have to have a clear invitation.
Now, I would never open my door at night (or any other time) to someone I did not know well. That's just common sense. The young men in this story were rather foolish in leaving the house to go out into the darkness. It never seemed to occur to them that they might have been lured there. They were likely not attacked (or whatever) because there were several of them together and armed with weapons. And why in the world were they out in the middle of nowhere without a means of transportation? That was just dumb.
