It DOESN'T mean you are heartless- everyone (AND every SPECIFIC circumstance) is different- let me tell you my own story here for an example:
And I actually enjoy [privately!] crying to films... at least NOW I do, ever since I firsthand discovered the feel-good brain endorphins crying can release (it was Pixar's "Inside Out" that did it). It took me until age 35 to experience that, actually. BEFORE "Inside Out", I did not believe there was anything positive about crying at all, and very rarely was triggered to do it myself. And if I was triggered but wanted to suppress it, it was always relatively easy to suppress (i.e. if I was watching a sad movie with other people and didn't want to cry in front of them). BUT...
Then, during "Inside Out" (which I was watching with my roommates)... there was ONE PARTICULAR scene for me:
Specifically, it was that line Joy said "Do you remember when she used to stick her tongue out when she was coloring?"... which really hit me like a truck (given the surrounding circumstances in the movie). Then, a bit of time AFTER the movie was over I realized I was CRAVING MORE tearjerker movies. That was VERY atypical for me but after a bit of research and learning that crying can release feel-good brain endorphins, it made sense. So, I am now a woman in my 30's who is suddenly addicted to tearjerkers. Thank you very much, Pixar 🤣
But I soon found out, even though I was now a "tearjerker seeker"... it was actually difficult for me to find a reliable "trigger" to produce tears from me (and hence my sought-after endorphins!). But it's really not because I'm heartless lol... I think it's due to my earlier-in-life unfortunate self-training I'd done. But even that aside, everyone is wired differently and everyone has all different specific life circumstances they can relate to (or lack thereof).
I hope to learn to cry more easily... I definitely want to! But it's frustratingly hard for me to find a movie that triggers me to cry, and funnily enough, watching tearful CZcams reactions to tearjerkers actually makes me feel envious if I'm not triggered to cry with them lol. BUT that being said, there HAVE been some successes- "Interstellar" did it for me (twice during the movie)- THAT was a pleasant surprise, and that's what got me looking up "CZcams movie reactions" in the FIRST place because I wanted to see if that movie "got" anyone else like it did to me!. "My Girl" definitely did it, too. And, the "winner" for most intense tear-triggering from me was... "The Land Before Time." That was the only one that caused several tears to drip from a height onto the backs of my hands. But that was a very long 6 months ago... so maybe you can see my frustration lol. (And no, re-watches, even if they're up to a few years later, don't have nearly the same effect as the first time watch).
This was the second video I shot for the challenge.. so I got into the sadness part real quick lol.. let me know if you guys want to see the other one.. its honestly not that sad, but maybe thats a good thing lol

Sharing something like that can be SO HARD, I know from experience (NOT with crying on camera, I don't know if I could ever do that... but rather with just sharing a STORY about me being triggered to cry to ONE close friend, at first lol!) See story about that further below:

By the way, even though that scene "hit me like a truck", I managed to (with the greatest mental effort I'd ever expended in my LIFE) suppress any actual tears (because I was with my roommates and did NOT want to cry in front of them), but the suppression came with a price- it literally felt like suppressing it hurt my brain! Despite the suppression, endorphins still had apparently got released, hence the craving for more.
I still don't think I could cry on camera for the internet though!
In fact, when I got the urge to SHARE that "Inside Out" story with someone (I started with one of those SAME roommates I'd suppressed the crying for!)... it took me MONTHS to work up the courage to decide to tell her the story about how it had strongly triggered me to [almost] cry! And when I was visiting and [SHE was the one who brought up] "that story you want to tell me," it took me an HOUR to just START to spill the story! :P I just found (as do many people!) talking about crying SO awkward! In fact, even during the story I noticed myself avoiding saying the word "crying" and inserting different terms for it, lol. I even find it somewhat awkward to TYPE the word "cry", although not as much as I used to!
My story was well-received by my roommate, and that in combination with finally TELLING the story to SOMEone brought such immense relief, that for DAYS afterwards, I felt like I'd had the best massage of my life, LOL!
