  • @gcsusetyo
    @gcsusetyo Před rokem +7

    This lesson is so well done! Conor's voice is impeccably angelic and velvety, almost like a warm hug in audio form. There's a lot of richness there: like you said, there's a bit of Buckley, Yorke and Bono there, but he's also very much his own vocalist, thanks to his classical training and childhood diet of blues and soul. Nothing But Thieves songs are so hard to sing not because they're melodic gymnastics but technically because of Conor's flawless transitions between the registers and the subtle nuances that makes his vocals very him, such as an airy breath here, a brief belt there and those barely there melismatic runs peppered here and there. But most importantly the way Conor moves the audience emotionally with his stage presence-not only live but also as a voice in the studio-that emotional energy is simply unmatchable. Thank you for this lesson, Chris, and for doing so well in showing us mortals the ropes to Conor's divine vocals!

    Amazing video as usual, sorry I only see it now ! Maybe you could dive quite a bit into Puggy’s discography ? They’re a Belgian band (though none of the members are actually Belgian, the singer’s English, the drummer is Swedish and the bassist is French) and are therefore criminally underrated, and I feel like you’d definitely have some interesting points to pick up on in Matthew Irons’ voice. Can’t wait to see more analysis of yours anyways ! :)

    I'd love to see a video about Caleb Followill from Kings of Leon. Even though he doesn't do super high notes he has a very interesting sound to him. His voice has such a cool squeaky grit to it like if he's had some cords sickness before and it's damaged now. I wonder if it's possible to imitate and learn something from him.
    In the song Charmer he does this cool scream I've never heard anywhere else and I wonder if it's done in a healthy way and how it works.

    Great stuff as always man! I really like that aspect of saving the voice in certain notes. I'm starting to feel that most of our heroes does that, specially live. We always get the feeling that they are screaming their lungs out but I think that's not true. I just find it difficult to notice that and with your expertise we can definitely hear those transitions. I know I sound like a broken record but can you please do a Richie Kotzen video. People say he sounds like Cornell but I think he's more on the bluesy side with more dynamics and stuff. I'd love to hear you talking about him. Thanks for the amazing content! I'm not sure I quite understand the question... do you mean for this video? Singing in the style of this artist? Or do you mean in a more general sense? Like "how to you work on your tone and versatility in general?"

      @@chrisliepe the second thing sounds more like what im trying to do. Changing your voice(tone and overall sound) completely by changing the shape of your vocal cords/larynx. I think it might be possible because im still growing.
