One can enjoy music without being emo. xD And yeah, this song talks about the struggles that comes with fame...people pretending to be your friend and using you, then throwing you away when you really need help. And then his own fight to get clean and make a comeback.

He's talking about some of his personal struggles with alcoholism(I really hope I'm not mixing up artists here but I think it was brenden) and the peer pressure and anxiety that comes with making it big as he showed the record label guy bring him drugs the first time which lead to the downward spiral because he trusted the wrong people.

Yeah he really struggled back in the day and still does but he has a great support team these days (he used to have a lot more than alcohol abuse but you had the right artist too) struggle to cope is hard when people hound you when you make it big this song is just the tip of the iceberg
