Excellent choice to deliver this lecture. Dr. Trueman is one of the great Christian minds of our age.
Dr. Trueman brilliant as always!
Excellent content!
"What is man?" That is the heresy of our time. Professor Trueman's book, "The Rise and Triumph of the Modern Self" is the best introduction to how we got here I have ever encountered. If you loved this talk, check out that book. (He also has a truncated version called, "Strange New World")

I believe that traditional Jewish theologians, such as the late Rabbi Sacks, dont see the Torah's requirements for ritual purification after certain sex related acts as associating sex with death. Rather it is because those particular acts either represent a lost potential for creating life (menstruation, nocturnal emission) or a brush with death (child birth in pre modern times), that they require ritual purification. Ritual purification separates life from death, just as the separation of milk (life giving from mother to offspring) and meat (slaughtered animal). It is a fundamental principle of Jewish thinking to "choose life", Deut.
