    As a seasoned procrastinator I know people will always make time for the things they really want to do.
    Good luck with your writing.

    On a superficial note, your hair looks lovely Georgie. In a serious vein, try not to over think your morning or your writing for that matter. It will come naturally to you , as you are a born communicator and that is what writing is after all. There are enough schedules, dates, appointments etc etc in anyone's daily life, to schedule time for yourself, for writing, I think for you would be akin to scheduling time to breath. You are funny and very articulate and have an excellent command of the English language and also have quite the imagination. ALL of which , as you know will stand you in good stead to be a BRILLIANT author!

    I'm glad you're embracing this writing. As for "a date with yourself" , think of it as a Wednesday walk around the meadow, embracing everything and just enjoying the view. The mindfulness will work it's magic

      For me, a wonderful Artist Date would be a walk around your garden! There used to be a fabulous nursery in my town ( in Virginia) called the Plant Plant. That was my escape for my brain. I would be inspired & energized by the variety of plants they had as well as the various garden spaces...from shade loving to bright sunshine areas. They provided the idea for my own garden & the plants to make it happen. A fabric store I used to visit would also be a creative date for me. Sometimes, I purchased fabric, and sometimes, it just provided inspiration for my embarrassingly huge fabric stash....😮😊
      I read The Artist Way a number of years ago & found the thought of a daily brain dump a wonderful process. Did I do routinely? No...but it would help when I did. Just like making a list of things to be done... helps to calm the mind.
      I often watch your channel for my creative escape. Today was one. Am I ever going to have a flower business? No, but your channel brings much inspiration when I watch!Thank you. 😊🤗❤️
      Keep writing! 👍

    You do give yourself artists dates, surely - to the garden centre or the local church just for appreciation. It can be as simple as walking to the end of the field just to listen to the birds. It doesn't have to be fancy or very long. If you feel wracked with guilt, then it's certainly something to work on. I think the best thing about the Artists' Way is the set of questions she gives. Over 20 years, I come back to these all the time, and get a different set of answers each time.

      @theflowerfarmer  Před měsícem +1

      Ok - I was putting myself under pressure to do something outside the normal - the awful thing is the birds and the meadow are here and I didn’t think that morning mooch might be the date x I yes like the questions - and yes I can see one would change the responses over the years x

    Thanks Georgie, brilliant video. I turned to the artists way when I had a creative block and interestingly, it cleared before I got half way through the book. One thing you didn’t say, that I felt was a nugget of pure gold comes from J.K.Rowling in a talk she gave about writing. She brought up the reality that one may look back over one’s words and not like it, no matter what one chooses to write about. The same holds true for all creative pursuits I’ve found. Joanne insists, ‘push through this and keep going and gradually you will begin to like what you are creating and validate yourself as a writer.’❤

    Oh I need to do this, I’ve slipped into watching educational videos first thing as it sticks in my mind but I really should write. I need to give the three page challenge a go in my journal, I’m cross that I haven’t been doing this as I have a lot of interesting things that go on in my life. You’re an inspiration as always, thank you.

    Sometimes when I'm writing my novel - it feels as if I'm writing all alone in a dark cupboard under the stairs, and no one gives a flipping tinkers if it ever sees the light of day, or dream on, ducky - lands on a publisher's desk. But then I buck myself up, by reminding myself that our sad old world is in such a dismal state, that people crave to be delighted, amused, charmed, diverted, gripped by what I am writing about. So, the world WANTS you to succeed as a writer, Georgie - not in the sense of chucking buckets of loot at you (although that might happen! ) but people are eager to hear your unique voice - your slant on the world. There is still a voracious appetite for new writers, even in our sadly screen addicted age.
    Roald Dahl described writing a novel as like slowly climbing up a steep mountain - pace yourself and you WILL get to the top of that mountain. Then, when you have finally finished, you can look down at the splendid view, catch your breath, and be amazed at all the work you have done. I also adore this quote from the chortle-making Barry Humphries -
    "My one ambition in life is to be annoyingly successful."

    New hairdo looks good. An interesting concept to have a date with oneself. Do you think that developed out of having some “me time”? That seemed easier to achieve in the shape of a luxurious fragrant bath or a nice cup of tea outside in the quiet of the early morning. Thank you for sharing the tips and tricks for your first hour of the day, particularly like the breathing exercises. So important to just breathe.
    Writing with a beautifully sharpen pencil on quality paper is a delight. Brings back memories of childhood when so much energy was deployed creating perfect letters.
    💚

      @theflowerfarmer  Před měsícem +1

      I think the idea of the 'date' is to do something unusual - i think the idea is to go somewhere that fills up the creative spaces in the mind with new ideas - a country walk good - but I think if I can make more time for art or visit a ruin or just a mooch round a town I don't know that would be good - but do it on my own so I notice more. x

    Thank Georgie, the idea of allowing you self time is a good one. Journaling is certainly a good way to see things more clearly, manage overthinking and remember the good things in bad times. Enjoy your writing time.

    A very good morning to you lovely Georgie. I am absolutely loving this as I am having my morning tea. You certainly need to allow yourself that hour in the morning as you deserve it! sometimes our heads can become overcrowded with too many things. I wrote a lot of various things on floristry that I thought myself in A4 notepads and my son asked why don't I just type it up on the laptop? my response was that I am old school and I enjoy writing 🙂my children have no idea of everything I have written but I think they would be quite impressed and so will my two beautiful grandchildren one day 🙂one of the funniest and great books I have ever read is Ozzy Osbournes biography and I actually think I still have it tucked away somewhere haha - thank you for sharing this with us. It was a joy listening to you.
