- Pro-Palestinian protests are spreading across British universities as students mimic actions seen on US campuses.
At University College London (UCL) and several other universities like Manchester, Newcastle, Sheffield, Leeds, Warwick, Swansea, and Bristol, students have set up tent camps to protest against the conflict in Gaza.
While the protests in the UK haven't escalated to the level of those in the US, British students are standing firm, demanding that universities sever ties with Israeli organisations and take action on Gaza.
Goldsmiths, University of London, has responded to student demands by offering scholarships to Palestinian students, renaming a lecture hall after Shireen Abu Akleh (a Palestinian-American journalist killed in 2022), and reviewing campus policies on antisemitism.
