Shooting suspect flees North Little Rock Police in truck - SPIKE STRIPS deflate tire ending pursuit

Officers were dispatched to the parking lot of a local pawn shop where an assault with weapon had just occurred. The subject in the truck, seen in the video, shot another person in the parking lot and fled the area. Officers quickly located the truck and began a pursuit. NLR Officer can be seen deploying successful spike strips on JFK Blvd which deflated one of the truck's tires. As a result, the truck was unable to navigate a sharp corner and skidding into the front yard of a house where officers were able to take the driver into custody without further incident. Charges are pending and no customers or employees were injured at the pawn shop.

It doesn't make sense how high speed fleeing charges are basically a slap on the wrist considering very few things that criminals do endanger so many lives, we need to make them some of the harshest penalties there are. Something like 10 years minimum with no possibility of early parole would be a good start

Easy issue to remedy. If proven in court that you committed Felony evasion of police, there should be an AUTOMATIC MANDATORY 10 year prison sentence WITHOUT any chance of parole! Then on top of that, ANY aggravating circumstances should ADD ON to the sentence such as injury to an innocent or property damage etc. If the evasion should cause a critical injury or death, the sentence should be MANDATORY life in prison or the death penalty. PERIOD!

Mitigating circumstances reduce the sentence, such as the perpetrator being a minor at the time of the offense.

I would fully support a license player reader that automatically sends tickets to people who don't pull to the right and stop for sirens.
Bad idea. It is best for those drivers to stay where they are and the officers go around them. What if they pull to the right and another trooper was passing on the right? There is no way, as the driver, to know where all the trooper cars are so any move you make apart from where you are, is more dangerous than staying put. If you are in the right lane where another trooper couldn't be there , then I agree they should move over.

It's really sad that even before watching these videos anymore, you can predict who the perp will be based off the description and the way they drive. You can also predict plenty of existing facts about them- no DL, insurance, a previous criminal history (usually quite long) generally a stolen vehicle and/or gun. It shouldn't be this way, but sadly it is.

I had the same thing happen in my back yard many years ago - southern california. He ran up our driveway and into the back yard with several officers in pursuit and heli overhead. His hope was to jump our back fence to escape. But I had so much junk out back, (old boats, trailers, plywood, rolls of wire,... and tall weeds), that his plan was quickly foiled. 😁 The people who live at this place will never forget the day.

Other police depts especially those in woke states should send their officers to Arkansas to see how things should be done.
In Washington State the Democrats control the legislator and they passed a law last year that police can only engage in a high speed pursuit for 3 conditions only, 1 a suspected DUI driver 2 A domestic violence suspect 3 The driver is a known Felon with an active Felony warrant
Lots of videos showing suspects ramming police cars and then driving off and the cops can Not initiate a high speed pursuit they can only follow at the posted speed limit

The problem is most of the charges he accumulates while driving this way will be dropped, so why would he stop or comply. In these cases each of his infractions should be added to his final sentence.
There's a Gall's in N Little Rock. If that first officer would stop by there and pick up one of those nylon/velcro organizer things for his car, all that "Rattle-bang-smash" stuff would greatly decrease.

Couldn’t agree more! Who would ever guess that Arkansas would be tops in law enforcement, but they are. Tulsa, OK has some fine officers too.
I got pulled over on the freeway by the ASP for doing 4mph over the limit. I'm sure the trooper was catching out-of-staters at the stateline. As I think back, the speed limit went from 65 to 55 to 65 to 75 (or something like that) all in span of a few miles.
I got a 59 in a 55 from the CHP because my motorcycle had a Pennsylvania plate and they knew I wouldn't be around to fight it.@@drm6007
