Lovely reaction video. This Face Album is a real masterpiece for me. Very cohesive even with the very different genres of music they made use of, I applaud Jimin for being very brave and honest and sincere with his first solo album.
Face off is such a bop, alone is haunting and beautiful and letter is just pure love, set me free and like crazy are absolutely gorgeous
You know, I truly don't want to pit members against each other because I love them all, but the contrast between this and JK's release is hard to ignore with the back-to-back #1s. JK is straight pop - and that's great! he loves pop! he's good at it! it's a banger of a song! - but Jimin's release is so personal and deep and artistic. I expected dance pop from him too, and we got more than that. I was surprised and impressed to hear Face. Jimin is highly intelligent; we tend to forget that because his heart is on his sleeve. Seeing the different colours of the members is going to be fascinating when they come back together.
The fact that letter isn't on Spotify is a crime to me. Its probably my favorite track off the album.

Jimin said in an interview that his dad actually cried when he heard this album. T_T There is a dance practice for "Like Crazy" and also a really pretty acoustic-style performance of the English version on a Korean CZcams Talk Show. Here is the link. What i remember was JIMIN saying that he started writing his album at the start of covid and with everything going on with them not performing to a live crowd or even able to see people except his brothers, he thought he was coping ok nut he was drinking alot, his brothers noticed but they left him to work through his issues but kept a close eye on him incase it got worse 💜🔥🧡
Jimin wrote all this during covid times. It represents the frustration and isolation he felt. BTS had been preparing for a huge world tour which had to be cancelled, and all the boys were very disappointed, but Jimin just lives to be on the stage so it hit him hard.
My favourite track is Letter (hidden track), I think it is so intimate and beautiful, and love the delicacy of his voice.
I believe Jimin went through a break up around the time of the pandemic and these songs show the "emotional arc"(as he puts it) he experienced. He was hurt by a love and betrayed by a friend. I think he's still trying to get over it. Set me Free may be the beginning of his new emotional journey. This is my take on it.

And also (sorry for the tons of comments!) you asked who wrote LC and I wanted to mention that Jimin has writing credits on all songs on FACE except Interlude Dive. He even included photos of his notebook where he was working on the lyrics with his physical album, it was so cool. This was a very personal album for him. Yes, he got some new tats in the past year, the moons going down his back, the word “Youth” behind his ear, the “7” on his finger. As usual, elegant and classy in all things, except when he is being a total dork 😂

There were so many people disparaging even the slightest suggestion that this song & video have more layers of meaning than just the surface of drinking too much during the pandemic. If only people weren't so closed-minded, they'd realize just how incredibly revolutionary & brave Jimin's debut album is.

FACE is a masterpiece and Jimin is one of the best artists in the industry. Alone, god what to say about Alone. It makes me feel so much. There are so many layers to that song. Yes, SMFp2 and LC are top tier. Face-off is amazing. Letter is one of the most heartfelt and beautiful songs I’ve heard, his vocals on that, esp the live clip. Interlude blew my mind because I usual hate them and instead, it is just perfect. But Alone is it for me. yes, Jimin is one of those people, he doesn’t say much, it’s actions instead of words. And his actions always come from a beautiful loving heart. It’s nice to stan an artist who is genuinely a good soul.
Sorry, I forgot to tell you that I really enjoy your reactions, you spend the time to dig into things and your perspective leads me to see things differently. Thank you for this lovely reaction to FACE.

Thank you for the reaction. He wrote his feelings and thoughts during the pandemic into songs and arranged them chronologically. He participated in writing all the songs and also had a hand in choreography. Letter is a hidden track for the fans. If I am not wrong, I heard he wrote it in his car at the garage thinking of his fans. And some parts of DIVE were recorded by Jimin and the part where he says hi to the fans is from the BUSAN concert in Korea last year. I love Jimin's creativity and genuine love for his fans. For me Jimin's first solo album Face is a masterpiece.

while you were explaining like the whole black/muddy substance in like crazy, i thought about this. when Jimin is in the house with the toxic substance at the end and beginning, thats him in the public eye. he has to mask something/hide something from the public, but when hes in that club environment hes free to let go and be himself. basically, he starts off hiding that "thing", then hes welcomed by it and lets go in the club. but, at the end of every night he has to bottle it all up again and hide it. not to make any assumptions.. but this definitely reminds me of hiding sexuality. i connect this music video a lot to how ive had to hide/mask my sexuality from people. and even if thats not Jimin's intentions, its still a beautiful theory to think about.
also, this is how i interpreted interlude dive. it starts off with Jimin at a concert, enjoying his time with his fans. the energy is high and hes enjoying himself. however when the concert ends, life is dead silent; it feels like its at a standstill. he gets in the car, drives home for the night, and pours himself a drink to help numb the crash of energy. the boys have talked about it many times, and so have other artists. when your on stage performing, theres so much energy within and around you, but once you leave that loudness, its deafeningly silent. you go from high energy to basically nothing, and its scary. Jimin has also talked about (like he does in his album) how hes had problems here and there with drinking. so to cope with the feeling after a concert, he drinks himself away for the night so he doesnt have to think about it.

Hi, i am back. Good reaction, Ty. I really wanted more Jimin after i heard all his prior songs. Jimin ult here, Suga wrecker OT7. His voice is my fav. I adore all of its tones. Jimin wrecks me the worst. He is just such an amazing artist. Love that he is feeling more settled and calm. The growth is so cool. I love all the songs. My fav is Lie and 2nd fav Filter. Adore this album. I love Like Crazy and Set Me Free pt.2 because i am an artist myself so a visual person. The visuals in the MVs enhance the songs for me. But I do love the others as well. I think someone mentioned they heard Dive or part of it at the Busan concert. There are a lot of references to his and the teams past songs. Like Lie and Lights, Promise too, etc. The choreo for Set Me Free pt.2 is ON inspired. He is such an artist. I am in awe. Loved ur thoughts. The album is about his feelings from the pandemic. He has mentioned this in recent interviews. I know he was hurt badly when he lost face to face contact with army. Yeah, u have to listen to the songs in order. Jimin said so. =0) I think Jimin was inspired by Suga. His song Dive makes me think of Suga's Dawn. Pagan, in Letter Jimin collabs with JK. He is listed in the credits. Though the bloody hidden track is so hard to see in the photobook. Lol. And Letter has parts of Promise which i noticed much later. =0} Jimin is the one playing the guitar though and singing. Alone -Love this one too. Like Crazy is fav but all the songs on the album are 5 stars. Feels. Adore songs with feels. All the songs are about the pandemic. And if u hear them in order he is showing u how he accepted and grew from the pain. Having lost Army and the stage during the pandemic hit him really hard. Jimin is our sensitive man. He is so empathic. I hurt so much seeing him cry during the onlince concert MOTS One. After that he never cried. He stayed strong. But i am glad he shared this in a song. Love his album so much. Yes! The vocals. Chef's kiss.

Jimin feels everything so deeply, he has such a high EQ. He admitted right as they had their first on line concert with ARMY on video screens how difficult it was to deal with the restrictions during the pandemic (he at first didn't realize they were not a recorded message from ARMY, but a live audience; when he did realize it he burst into tears and sobbed). He stated later that he had thought at first that he was dealing well with the new rules and regulations during the pandemic, but he realized that he really missed his personal connections with the fans and being able to have concerts with live audiences instead of empty seats was very important to him and the members. Depression hit him hard and he admitted drinking too much during these repressive times. Yoongi said he noticed, but decided scolding Jimin would only push him deeper into alcohol, so he decided to just be there and listen and support his younger Brother and it worked. Jimin is a hard task master when it comes to himself and he pushed himself forward. He also did this when they thought of disbanding - he shouldered the burdens of fear and depression on his own and even gave ARMY great advice and his ears for listening during his Vlives. He could not be any sweeter and more caring if he tried.

Words cannot describe how awesome this album is!! Jimin in his interview with JImmy Fallon said the Album is a chronological order of things that happened to him over the pandemic!! It is basically telling a story.
So, attempting a breakdown here..stay with me lol
1. Face - off : He had a kind of a breakup or fight with someone he trusted!! The person hurt him badly.
2. Interlude - Drive - Starts off with him driving, arguing with someone ( vicious knock on a door and kind of a crying sound), then he went for his concert ( saying thank you to fans) and drove somewhere to drown himself in alcohol
3. Like Crazy: He is still trying to avoid facing reality!! So he will rather drink to numb himself from the pain.
4. Alone: This is when he is in full depression and he even said "Mayday, get me out of here '. He was literally crying out for help!
5. Set me free : This is where he realises that he is the only one that can set himself free from the depression and the mental health he is now!!
6: Letter : A letter to his fellow other members for being there for him!! In his interview with rolling stones, he said after the last concert they had, he discussed with them about how he was feeling and they advised him to express this through his music. This is what he did and probably helped with his healing. So he promised to be there for them and he doesn't take the promise lightly!.
This is a masterpiece of an album!!
P.S I Will rather have 5 perfect songs than 7 or 8!! Quality and not quantity is always the best way to go!
