They truly saved these fish from the brink, I suggest looking up the early stories on these fish. If you do catch them, take ULTRA care and try not to let them bounce off the shore. They are a true survivor species.

Nice hat bro! Save the hat! You must have went there before I did. I was there three days ago. I think I caught the last Gila in that water. Possibly the last trout of any kind in that water. No strikes, no spooks, no nothing in any of the holes you fished in this video. I finally caught a Gila at last hole I hit. My first! I'll post a video in a couple weeks. Great video!

The big Gila trouts are breeder fish from Mora National Fish Hatchery near the Pecos Wilderness Northern New Mexico

I caught a 2 lb Gila further downstream this summer that was also tagged. The tagger, guy with antennae was walking around so I let him have his tag back. He said they only stocked Gilas in that stream this year.

Gila Are More rare , many of the Former Gila trout streams were destroyed by Forest fires, overgrazing and diversion of water. Apache trout are in Many more lakes and streams in the White Mountains. Than the Handful of surviving Gila populations in the Mogollon Mountains ?, and a few in the tiny streams and Fry Mesa Lake on Mount Graham. 7:57
These are stocked gilas. Very few areas still have them wild but they’re there
Have u caught a Apache trout? Pretty sure they are one of the rarest trout? That’s the biggest gila trout I’ve seen! I had a Apache trout up in the white mountains and unfortunately came of I was so mad
Apache is one of the rarest as well, haven’t been that deep into the white mountains yet tho.

I recommend the east verde river, Goldwater lake, and honestly they kinda just out them all over in different bodies. Just gotta see for yourself if they in there or not
