    As some of you already said here, Gorisek, the famous Slovenian architect / engineer who builded Vikersund, already planning and drawing plan, which would increase Planica's hill. According to his plans, at 2013 it will be able to fly around 250 / 260 in Planica but in a 2016, he goes even further, he wants to make first jump over 300 metres.
    I'm not Patriotic, my objective thinking is Planica still 'rocks' :)

    This may be the longest, but for me Romoren jump was the most magical.

  • @Snabelfaen
    @Snabelfaen Před 13 lety

    They are rebulding the profile on the hill so that il will bee 6-7 meter bigger next year, by cutting the jump 1 meter shorter and changing the angle of the jump by a half degree from 11,2 degree to 10,8 degrees and flatening the landingsone from 195 meter mark from 32 degrees, to 30,5 degrees. This is to make the hill even safer so that he hill can handle some updraft, as they had a little problem with the profile.
    That means a 260 meter jump would bee equivlant to Romørens 239 in planica.

    Great jump! It looks like the hill is shaped out, just for Johan. But still... Back when Romoeren duelled against Ahonen, and landed the 239 jump. Way bigger.

  • @Snabelfaen
    @Snabelfaen Před 13 lety

    They are rebuilding the profile of the hill next year, so the hill will be 15 meters bigger, so if Planica dosen't make 250 meter this year, then Vikersund will make it. So 246,5 meters this year will be equivlant to 261,5 meters next year.
    The reason for reshaping the profile is for safey reasons. You can clearly see why when Gregor Schlierenzauer jumps 243,5 meter from gate 0, with a 0,3 backwind. Imagine Gregor Schlierenzauer with 1,8 frontwind lifting him down, it would been a disaster.

    @jonharald1409 What you probably don't know is that the architects of the hill in Vikersund are the Slovenians (Janez Gorisek and his son) and what allowed them to design the Vikersund hill are years of experince from Planica. So quit making stupid comments and be happy that now there are two GREAT hills.
    What I hope is that today they will fix the cameras and camera positions so we can better enjoy the flights. Yesterday's broadcast was not good at all.

    He is for safe of ski jumpers. He decides how much meters can downhill a ski jumper before the jump, so how fast he is when he jump. FIS/Hofer wont allow it, I think it only happened now, cause this is a new hill and they dont know it well enough to control the lengths as well as in planica.. if anything a new record in planica will only be marginally longer.. all this talk about the planned 300m hill is long into the future, probably another 10 years.. remember it has taken 16 years to go from 200 to 250-ish..

    Planica:
    + Best crowd
    + More spectacular flights
    + History
    - Is pretty much maxed out at "only" 239 meters.
    Vikersund:
    + 246,5 meters, potensial: +250
    - Dull flight (compared to the high flying Planica jumps)
    - Dull crowd (give them some liquor..)
    ....and the winner is: Who cares? I'm glad we have two monster hills now. Hopefully Oberstdorf, Harrachov and Kulm will follow suit. Well done Vikersund!
