- LYRICS 2A BEAUTIFUL SONG, IV LOVED FOR OVER 20YRS
You don't bring me flowers
You don't sing me love songs
You hardly talk to me anymore
When you come thru the door
At the end of the day
I remember when you couldn't wait to love me
Used to hate to leave me
Now after lovin' me late at night
When it's good for you, babe
And you're feelin' alright
Well you just roll over and turn out the light
And you don't bring me flowers anymore
It used to be so natural to talk about forever
But "used to be's" don't count anymore
They just lay on the floor
'Til we sweep them away
Baby, I remember
All the things you taught me
I learned how to laugh
And I learned how to cry
Well, I leared how to love
And I learned how to lie
So you'd think I could learn
How to tell you goodbye
You don't bring me flowers anymore
Well, you'd think I'd could learn
How to say tell you goodbye
You don't say you need me
You don't sing me love songs
You don't bring me flowers anymore - Hudba
It was the first time they sang this together. For the album, due to professional commitments, they each performed their parts on separate coasts, and a recording company mixed them. This is one of the top truly magical moments in television history.
👀
When did this first air?
@@mysticaltyger2009 I believe it was the Grammy Awards of 1980.
February 27, 1980
“It might very well have been the first Grammy moment ... they [had] never performed the song “live” together, so on February 27, 1980, the lights dimmed at the Shrine Auditorium and Barbara and Neil took the stage to sing one of the classic television duets of all time.”
And what a time it was!❤
@@Steve-yo4ld Would have been nice to have been there.
This song always brings tears to my eyes. Who's listening in 2024.
Me!!! It got stuck in my head!
Listen from my hospital bed this morning... lungs full of inflammation
@@Tanman-lk1hkI hope the healing power of this gorgeous song speeds you to a full recovery soon!
@@Kaw72774 thank you
I just heard it again . Still a classic song!😊
No dancers, no auto tune, and covered from head to toe. How in the world did they get a standing ovation? Oh yeah, it's called talent.
Liking it!🤣
It's called REAL Talent, something we don't see much of today!! P S you're an IDIOT!!!
100% Klasse 😍
And class
Omg brilliant🤣🤣, im going to pin this comment. Today is a joke, mainstream music is all controlled and most cant sing, once voice filters, removed and all the theatrics on stage. Non at all here and its one of the best duets, live performance in its genre of all time i think. Bless you you lol
A good Jewish boy and Jewish girl making beautiful music together ❤️
what's that got to do with it?
@@normadesmond6017 Everything. Go and have a wee think to yourself.
❤❤ ❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️BOOM….thank you!
It has to do with A TON…!The fact that you are commenting “what that got to do with it” especially considering the abhorrent recent hostility toward Israel and the Jews. I leave you to your own personal “ Quiet”opinion….
I knew in my head what your profile would be, age, demographic, political affiliation, IQ, and ability to be EMPATHETIC.
Normadezmond6017.
Maybe you meant it differently…and you know the history Judea…..Jews have been in ISRAEL since Jesus!they have roots to to core of the earth and let’s not forget that itty bitty thing called the HOLOCAUST. We should be SUPPORTING ALL THE ICONS, ENTERTAINERS, and DIRECTORS. If you don’t decide to do that and support Palestine…may the WRATH OF GOD OR ALLAH CUSH YOU LIKE A BUG!!!
Again if you meant it some other way I apologize. Regards 😊
This is back when the Grammy's had class.
Certainly did have class and real talent back in the day, same with Oscars...can't be bothered watching both anymore 👎🇦🇺
Barbra writes in her autobiography that the moment she touches Neil's face was unplanned. A spur of the moment thing. The audience loved it
It 's like she touched Redfords face during The way we were, I guess.
I heard that Streisand had such terrible stage fright before this performance. Diamond said “just keep your eyes on me.”
I am listening in 2024 and It is still fantastic
When music was beautiful and respectful. No dawgs or bitches invited. Thank God I grew up in this time.
Same here buddy
@khobia2 I teared up during this, the same as I did the night it played live. There is no true emotion in "music" today...lots of aggression, as you rightly alluded to. WE came from a time before cell phones, selfies, Ipads, autotune. We came from a HUMAN time, before AI voiced and generated videos...It was so, as you said my friend, "Beautiful and respectful." Take care, Be Well!
Those were great days 😊
Me too
Me too
We're the lucky ones who were able to watch this in our living rooms and not on CZcams. Loved it then and love it now. We grew up with the best music.
One of the best duets of all time. No fancy staging, no exaggerated musical scores. Just two voices communicating human emotions to the audience. Yes, please.
Hi Cindy hope you're okay??
2 of the BEST EVER voices too Cindy, You just Don’t get this anymore! I have Loved this song for Years and will Always love it ! X
And the second greatest is Barbra with Donna Summer!
I love how he locks eyes with her WITHOUT BREAKING for the entire song.
If he looked at me that way, I would faint. What a beautiful man inside and out.
@@user-zj1ft5tx5flol😅😅😅😅
I’ve just watched this over and over again. Barbra is so very nervous and who wouldn’t be singing a superstar like Neil Diamonds song not only with him but at the Grammys having only ever sung it together over the phone. I take my hat off to him regarding the advice he gave her and how his performance was so relaxed . It would have helped her calm her nerves. Absolutely beautiful rendition from both❤
I was working the evening this aired. My sister told me described it beautifully, explaining the magic and chemistry. She sadly told me I would never get to see the performance. She sadly lost her battle with Cancer in 1982. I think of her ever time I watch. I have felt her with me a few times, she is glad she was wrong.
This was 43 years ago. I hope I never forget watching this on the Grammy’s. The way Neil looks at her, the way she touches his face at the end. True chemistry!
That was her “signature move” with Robert Redford in The Way We Were. She timed it perfectly!
Beautiful
I remember seeing this on the Grammys. Still gives me goosebumps. Just phenomenal talent
That would be ‘nineteen-eighty.
A moment not to be forgotten. Very few people were aware that they would be on the Grammy telecast that evening ,adding to the vibe that STILL brings tears and chills. One of a kind performance.
This is perfection! Barbara is beautiful, her eyes, and her voice! Wow! Neil, perfect gentleman, and keeping eye contact all the way thru,.... Beautiful! I have to watch it two or three times every time and always takes my breath!
After fourty five years it still brings tears to my eyes. What a magnificent performance.
Is anyone here to watch this after listening to Barbra speak about it in her book?
👋
Yes.
I haven’t read her book what did she say
Barbra directed it but the moments of her touching his face and Neil kissing her hand were spontaneous and she is such an amazing storyteller, I wanted to see it too. I cried!!
Yep! Me! Listening to her book on Audio book...SO good!
Back when the Grammys mattered
Word
Sadly, today , there will be idiots screaming and interrupting a pure vocal duet which they will never appreciate and come close to understanding
Who is listening to this fantastic masterpiece in 2023
I am and always will!
2024
Me again in 2024, I often return to watch it, they are just magnificent together❤

When singers were really SINGERS.
perhaps the BEST duet EVER broadcast on live television.
I cry almost every time I hear this, because I thought I did wrong but now I know I didn't, 5/2024. you?
How can you not watch this by two of the most amazing solo artists and not cry and think they were ''making love'' on stage
Wow, they really had chemistry..you could feel it.
Hello!!! How are you doing today, please pardon me for intruding into your privacy but I just wanted to know if you’re a fan ? Have a great day…Stay Safe
Hi Julie hope you're okay??
When Neil look at her singing its like he could just literally eat her. Pure raw passion.
Well said, pure talent very poetic, no need for foul language.
The best live performance I have ever seen. 😊
yes. in this genre for me hands down a winner, so beautifull
If a man ever looked at me that way, I would never let him get away.
Very well spoken.
I know right! Pure unadulturated raw passion. My My My!
Yes I couldn't agree more, I'd melt like a puddle at his feet, WOW ❤
Hahaha so very true. I look like I can only dream about🫶💫
I remember this when they appeared at the end. I cried then and I cried now.
The best song ever sang on live TV
I am so shocked that this particular performance only has 15,000! That really BOTHERS ME!
I was only 3 years old then, but why isn’t music like this anymore. All time geniuses in the world of music and know one to replace them once they are all gone 😢 Even my 14 year old daughter is listening to music from 25 years ago now.
This is theatrical. The singing is just part of the act. But the talent is unreal.
According to her book, this wasn't even originally a duet. A random disc jockey was going through a divorce and ended up splicing both of their solo versions together. The rest is history.❤
That…. Right there…. Is perfection.
great song. Whats really more interesting Barbra and Neil attended the same high school graduated the same class and had choir together.
Really? 😃😱❤️
How amazing is this
Love this so much. I’m still just a younger fella but damn this was so amazing. Both of them. Iconic.
BARBRA STREISAND IS THE VERY BEST FEMALE SINGER OF ALL TIME.
Karen Carpenter is better.
Both part of the greats that sadly it seems, we won't be seeing the likes of on our tvs anymore. Most of to days music they pushing out is simply a joke. In my opinion 💫
These were two musical Giants that came together, to record and sing one of the best duets ever done. Period.
R.I.P. Bill Courrege. This song will always remind me of you.

Yes I am. Love them both.
when superstars were For Real
OMG I had forgotten that song it is so beautiful. Brings me to tears.
The greatest most beautiful deut of all time no exceptions!!!! No debate!!!
The emotions of this performance still hit, decades later
I love you Barbara an icon 💓 of my generation you always take me right There back in memories of long ago ty God bless #ThewayweWere❤
Best ever. Luke and Tracy in 2024 come close.
2023❤
If you don't love this better check your pulse
I was 12 when this came out. I was already Ms. Barbara's #1 fan❤. But after this came out on tv Neil Diamond became my first crush❤🎵🥰☺️💐😘
He is my crush and I am in my 60s!!
@@lindac7324 almost 60 myself✌️😊
I remember watching the awards back then they were super will never forget it was so real
Barbara didn't perform live for 27 years (during one point of her career), you can see the relief on her face and her gesture as they walked off the stage.
Remember watching - live...such a different world then...far, far better it was...
Ohhhhh Barbra,Barbra, Barbra!!
Such chemistry!❤Are you sure they weren’t in love?❤❤❤
I still get chills over this being the first time they actually were in the same room singing this for the first time.
This never gets old. It's an absolute masterclass in how to perform a duet. ❤❤
Absolutely! Makes me Cry Everytime too 🤦🏻♂️ lol 💖
Agreed 💫🫶
Who's listening in 2025?
A modern version would this performance would be Bruno Mars and Miley Cyrus performing "When I Was Your Man" and "Flowers" together.
How can you not love this? Simply beautiful.
What a beautiful song by two amazing legendary legends
Amazing, don't take love for granted ❤️
Story behind this performance- Barbara was afraid to go on stage because she had a stalker that threatened to kill her.
It was Neil Diamond that gave her the confidence to go on stage and just look at him so when she grabs his cheek, that is her appreciation that he gave her the strength to do the performance .
She was honestly. One of the best performances ever.❤
I watched this live and was in tears with chills too!! Stunning!!!
In my book, this is the BEST DUET in the history of music!!!
They sing emotion together like no other duo!!!
Have a look at Neil singing Play Me with Shirley Bassey. The same emotions and the eye contact ❤
@@shirleyhenriksen2026 thank you for the suggestion. I will definatly look it up. Neil will always be number 1 with me.
Neil looks so so relaxed. I can understand her being nervous … she did exceptionally well!. Loved this
2 powerhouses. Loved this performance.
I just read about this in her book and just had to see what it looked like, Awesome!
It was a DJ who noticed they had separately recorded the song but in the same key, so he cut it together himself. It was such a hit, Neil and Babs decided to make an official recording.
This is one of my favorite vocal collaborations ever.
I was on Instagram and seen this classic performance and I remember when I was a kid watching this on TV.... their was real music back in the days and none of this nonsense now
This respect and chemistry is genuine. They were HS chums!!! Two friends who made it and helped change the course of music. I wish they perform this live at least one more time
They were in the same HS and overlapped but didn’t know each other.
They deserved an Oscar for this performance👋👋👋👋👋
Brooklyn kids done good!
Just 2 kids from Brooklyn!
Just Fabulous!

Hey there! I came across your comment and I just had to reach out and say hi. Your perspective really caught my attention and I would love to get to know you better. Would you be interested in chatting sometime? Looking forward to hearing back from you! 😊
There is no music, there are no singers like Barbara Streisand and Neil Diamond anymore. This was a performance for the ages. Two incredible talents sharing a few moments and creating something we will never stop watching.
This was absolutely magical moment. The chemistry, the performers, simply unforgettable.
As if this wasn't special enough in all of the beautiful ways pointed out by all of the beautiful people in the comments, it's the subtle tremendously tasteful deviations from the recorded studio version that make it a true masterpiece in my ears.
Amazing, after all of these years

Just love love Neil. The ultimate singer and performer. Gorgeous with Barbara. Worst thing ever that he got sick. The worlds not the same when hes not singing.
Parkinson are an awful desease...my brother in law had it...
His music lives on forever through all his recordings and, of course, in my head.
Barbra said in her book she was nervous and her voice wobbled when she was walking toward him, she told herself to get it together girl. It was hardly noticeable. Wonderful performance.
Two of the most beautiful voices we will ever hear
The real Songbird.... Respect to you Barbra Streisand
I love the way they look at each other while their singing. The Best duet ever!
Simply gorgeous

Oh to be there. No Words. Just Greatness!
It's pure magic
No computer gimmicks, Raw talent, Really Amazing live performance. Thank you.
One of the best duets I have ever heard!
Babs murdered this. Recognize the real.
Old school buddys from NYC🎉
Amazing to think that these two were in the same high school choir!
Is this not the most romantic scene ever.❤❤
I remember watching this. I was just a kid. Kind of liking the melody. But what really stood out to was “Barbara” was dressed like my “mom”. And over the years, like many, I got it.
y pensar que barbra straisand era la diva de esa época hasta los be gees cantaba juntos con ella
Two of the greats. Barbra’s clarity and Neil’s warmth is a perfect match.
such a good observation!
