@@Lakesider52 if the police have witnessed the incident themselves or if they already have enough information to push for charges (e.g. other witnesses) then yes they can go ahead without a complaint from the victim. However if they are relying on information and a statement from the victim and do not otherwise have enough information to press charges then of course they cannot do anything.

I lived in Bristol for many years in the 90's. It was a dangerous place but if you kept your wits about you you would be OK. From what I have seen of the place over the last few years I would not want to live there now. I was behind what these protests were about when they first started but after watching their behavior and the way they have treated NNY and Marti and the way you all have been treated in Bristol, I am definitely not behind them now. It would not be so bad if they would change the bloody record.

Every time there's large scale disorder in Bristol, it's this lot. Ben Wood is one of their top figures, he's the balding guy in this video. You had film of the person(s) making the attack and it would also have been caught on CCTV. With that evidence, it beats me why the police did not arrest the people committing the violence while they were probably still in the crowd.
