Rudolph the red-nosed reindeer
Had a very shiny nose
And if you ever saw it
You would even say it glows
All of the other reindeer
Used to laugh and call him names
They never let poor Rudolph
Play in any reindeer games

Actor, singer, decorated soldier, this guy is amazing
Don't forget also the first owner the best baseball team ever The Angels
@@sancho714sa Being a Brit I know nothing about that great American pastime/sport, but yea, ok, another feather in his cap 👌
@@sancho714sa Of course key word is "was". This is from my childhood, or before. Edit: I'm 67. Young at heart but the years don't care. At least some of the music lives on. L8r.
@emin Some say his family didn't have money for a Christmas tree, so Gene was decorated every December...
The best!
For anyone who is curious, this came out in the late 1940s.
Its sad I never got the meet gene. My grandmother was related to him. Maybe if he was alive I could have met him.
That's awesome, thank you, I was wondering how old this song was
Actually - December 1949.
Oop-
Thanks for all the comments guys, really appreciate it.
What this song made me realize as a kid is, people will ridicule you and treat you bad for being different, and only like you when what made you different is actually useful.
Think of it as a talent or a gift from God. ☺
Absofrekinglutely!
Nobody, and I mean NOBODY can sing this carol better than him.
I guess you never heard me sing this song. All that would do is to increase your sentiment on this tune, as I sing like a cross between Ethel Merman and Mick Jagger. I know, try to picture it, ... and that's being sober!
I agree
“You’ll go down in history!” Man who knew that man was soo right❤️
YEAH
Totally
Any1 raised what his name is?
love it!!!
This is the best and original version.
If this song with Gene singing it doesn't take ya back to your childhood and Christmas I don't know what would! Best version ever! Rest in Peace Mr Autry, you brought a lot of joy to kids and adults alike!
He didnt want to record it, his wife persuaded him. The song was written by Robert L May , an Ad writer, hisvwife was dying from cancer and he couldnt afford a gift for his 4yr old child Barbara. Well the book took off, made him a millionaire.

Hello Pam
The following story about our famous reindeer was recopied and posted! You'll love this ... Merry Christmas to all.....As the holiday season of 1938 came to Chicago, Bob May wasn’t feeling much comfort or joy. A 34-year-old ad writer for Montgomery Ward, May was exhausted and nearly broke. His wife, Evelyn, was bedridden, on the losing end of a two-year battle with cancer. This left Bob to look after their four-year old-daughter, Barbara.
One night, Barbara asked her father, “Why isn’t my mommy like everybody else’s mommy?” As he struggled to answer his daughter’s question, Bob remembered the pain of his own childhood. A small, sickly boy, he was constantly picked on and called names. But he wanted to give his daughter hope, and show her that being different was nothing to be ashamed of. More than that, he wanted her to know that he loved her and would always take care of her. So he began to spin a tale about a reindeer with a bright red nose who found a special place on Santa’s team. Barbara loved the story so much that she made her father tell it every night before bedtime. As he did, it grew more elaborate. Because he couldn’t afford to buy his daughter a gift for Christmas, Bob decided to turn the story into a homemade picture book.
In early December, Bob’s wife died. Though he was heartbroken, he kept working on the book for his daughter. A few days before Christmas, he reluctantly attended a company party at Montgomery Ward. His co-workers encouraged him to share the story he’d written. After he read it, there was a standing ovation. Everyone wanted copies of their own. Montgomery Ward bought the rights to the book from their debt-ridden employee. Over the next six years, at Christmas, they gave away six million copies of Rudolph the Red Nosed Reindeer to shoppers. Every major publishing house in the country was making offers to obtain the book. In an incredible display of good will, the head of the department store returned all rights to Bob May. Four years later, Rudolph had made him into a millionaire.
Now remarried with a growing family, May felt blessed by his good fortune. But there was more to come. His brother-in-law, a successful songwriter named Johnny Marks, set the uplifting story to music. The song was pitched to artists from Bing Crosby on down. They all passed. Finally, Marks approached Gene Autry. The cowboy star had scored a holiday hit with “Here Comes Santa Claus” a few years before. Like the others, Autry wasn’t impressed with the song about the misfit reindeer. Marks begged him to give it a second listen. Autry played it for his wife, Ina. She was so touched by the line “They wouldn’t let poor Rudolph play in any reindeer games” that she insisted her husband record the tune.
Within a few years, it had become the second best-selling Christmas song ever, right behind “White Christmas.” Since then, Rudolph has come to life in TV specials, cartoons, movies, toys, games, coloring books, greeting cards and even a Ringling Bros. circus act. The little red-nosed reindeer dreamed up by Bob May and immortalized in song by Johnny Marks has come to symbolize Christmas as much as Santa Claus, evergreen trees and presents. As the last line of the song says, “He’ll go down in history. "Merry Christmas to all .....

OMG what a amazing song 🎅🎅🎅🎄🎄🎄🎄🎄🎄
The Best listening since I was a kid I'm 63🎸🥁🌟
A wonderful timeless "sing-along masterpiece by the one and only Gene Autry, himself. This would be one of the original versions of "Rudolph the red nosed reindeer". Gene Autry has sung for many children during his lifetime and this song brought the children a lot of joy during Christmas and this one sticks really fresh to this day with popularity. It simply is Christmas music one can admire a lot more then anything you would hear today. This is what you really need to hear during every Christmas holiday. Merry Christmas!!!!🎄🎄🎄🎄🎄
Happy birthday to Gene Autry rest in peace ✌️ his birth verse is Matthew 9:29 Blessings and hugs!

This is amazing, I love Rudolf the red-nosed reindeer, it's not Christmas until I listen to this, though it's November, lol.
Some people say All I want for Christmas is the quintessential Christmas song. Those people are wrong. This is the best Christmas song
Thank you Montgomery-Wards for creating Rudolph the red nose reindeer

Hello Stephen
Check out the lyrics below.
You know Dasher and Dancer and Prancer and Vixen
Comet and Cupid and Donner and Blitzen
But do you recall
The most famous reindeer of all?
Rudolph the Red-Nosed Reindeer
Had a very shiny nose
And if you ever saw it
You would even say it glows
All of the other reindeer
Used to laugh and call him names
They never let poor Rudolph
Join in any reindeer games
Then one foggy Christmas Eve
Santa came to say
“Rudolph, with your nose so bright
Won’t you guide my sleigh tonight?”
Then how the reindeer loved him
As they shouted out with glee
“Rudolph the Red-Nosed Reindeer
You’ll go down in history”
Rudolph the Red-Nosed Reindeer
Had a very shiny nose
And if you ever saw it
You would even say it glows
All of the other reindeer
Used to laugh and call him names
They never let poor Rudolph
Join in any reindeer games
Then one foggy Christmas Eve
Santa came to say
“Rudolph, with your nose so bright
Won’t you guide my sleigh tonight?”
Then how the reindeer loved him
As they shouted out with glee
“Rudolph the Red-Nosed Reindeer
You’ll go down in history”
"DONNER" was "RUDOLPH'S" father!!!!.
Yet another excellent recommendation Mr. Lynch!
The algorithm will never recover. Next May, it's gonna be like, "Oh, I'd better push Rudolph!! It's May again!"
My most favorite version!
As a small kid I was introduced to this classic hit through the Disney Christmas singalong vhs.
I can't stop listening to this song
WOULD NOT be christmas without the cowboy singing this🎅🎅☃️☃️!!
THAT CHRISTMAS SONG WAS RELEASED AND PERFORMED BY GENE AUTRY IN 1949. I THINK IT WAS A BOOK DESCRIBING THE LIFE OF RUDOLPH, THE RED NOSED REIGNDEER, AND YEARS LATER A MUSICIAN AND COMPOSER (WHOM I DON'T REMEMBER HIS NAME WROTE THE MUSIC AND GIVEN TO SINGER GENE AUTRY TO SING IT ON DECEMBER 1949.
I love that song
CHRISTMAS IS THE BEST WHO IS WITH ME!!!!
