This was a great year for Lego shows. Lego Masters Australia: Grand Masters blew me away, i have gone back and re watched it twice since it aired last March, the US season 4 was a delight, even more so than usual because I've been watching Duck Bricks' (Robert's) CZcams channel for a couple of years and finding out he was a contestant was wild. The latest season of Lego Monkie Kid was super emotional and beautiful as always. But i have to give top billing to Ninjago: Dragons Rising. Guys, there has never been a better time to hop onto the Ninjago fandom. A soft reboot that still builds on the old seasons. Two POV characters, one who represents the old fans who have been watching since the beginning and one who represents new fans who are just joining for the first time. A fantastic storyline that stands on its own but also sets up for the upcoming season. It's been hard to recommend Ninjago in the past what with its 16+ seasons and previous soft reboot atempts starting with lackluster seasons, but now? Now there is a good starting point that didn't air in 2011. Outside of that, I adored Barbie, and the new season of SpyXFamily was also a ton of fun. And for all its faults, i did really have fun with the Super Mario Bros Movie. Tldr: watch Ninjago Dragons Rising.
First of all, regarding the cancelation of "Schmicadoon!", on the one hand, ouch, but on the other hand, maybe they thought two seasons was enough without going too overboard with the formula, which would honestly make sense. Anyway, my favorite pieces of 2023 media ever would have to be "The Last of Us" season 1, Illumination's "The Super Mario Bros. Movie", Five Nights at Freddy's (obviously), Guardians 3, Loki season 2 (the show DID get better in the second season, though it sucks that that was Jonathan Majors's last role before the allegations which I won't go into detail about), Secret Invasion (I actually enjoyed it), Ant-Man 3, season 2 of "What If...?" (despite one episode being meh for me), The Marvels (which I JUST watched on Disney+ the day it got added, and yes, while I do somewhat agree with a lot of people about the main villain and their motives, I still thought it was a fun ride), season 3 of The Mandalorian, season 2 of The Bad Batch, the Ahsoka series, Power Rangers Cosmic Fury, and Mighty Morphin' Power Rangers: Once and Always.
Sadly that's not quite the case with Schmigadoon. The crew were all ready to go, over 20 new songs were written and waiting to be sung. But Apple pulled the plug for some reason. Ouch is indeed the word to describe it. I'm still not over it. And great list of favorites! Thanks for commenting
