- From the powerhouse of Turkish air guns comes the Hatsan Proxima air rifle. Powered by a Vortex gas-piston powerplant, the Proxima is ready for hours of backyard target shooting and small game hunting. This air rifle’s greatest asset is its ability to quickly fire repeating shots, thanks to the 2 included spring-loaded rotary magazines. With a cock of the underlever, you’re ready to fire again and again.

Love from Arizona!!! Your review is Perfect! .....You covered that rifle completely. The only thing that stops me from buying that rifle is the low FPS. My Hatsan 25 cal 125 springer is more powerful and has more FPS than this rifle. It goes thru 1/2 inch plywood at 50 yards. In fact the Hatsan 25 cal is so sweet that I bought 2 of them....I also have the 125 springer in 22 cal. Just luv these Hatsan rifles.....
Hatsan should start making .22 firearm stocks for Marlins ,Ruger 10/22 and Savage MKII series. they REALLY make a beautiful stock. i have a mod 95 Hatsan and love it.
I just put my fist 70 rounds through my Proxima. Thoughts- absolutely love multi shot! Just lift rifle, drop lever, 2 hand pull, slap it back up, don't even have to lose target aquisition, too cool! Yes it's heavy, but I got used to it very quickly. Now the bad news, quattro trigger is junk on my rifle. Made every adjustment that I could, I counted 4 or 5 stages of heavy creep at shortest, lightest setting. Went back to this review, watch the trigger test and the amount of travel and jerks as it pulled anywhere from 4 1/4 to almost 5 3/4 pounds! Went on line, "how to work on Quattro triggers" video's are abundant. People are replacing the screws for more adjustment, using cut down pen springs to replace the heavy trigger spring. I still managed 3/4" 5 shot groups at 25 yards with brown box premiers. No doubt there will be a huge accuracy increase with a no creep 2 pound trigger! Then this rifle may become my favorite of the 6 springers and pcp's that I own. So with that potential, I love this rifle!
Definitely most informative video I 've ever watched about Proxima, thanks a lot !
This rifle looks like a lot of fun! Hope i can test this sometimes. Best regards from germany!
AirGhandi
It's the biggest rifle i have ever handled other than a Barrett .50 bmg and i've handled more than a few.Now if i was seven feet tall at three hundred pounds ,it would be a good fit.
Here are my suggestions. First a flip down front sight. A tapered fore end to reduce weight. As stated the cocking effort makes repeat shots slow, and does not for the effort give high velocity, would add a magnum piston option and a side lever cocking model to quicken follow up shots
Thank you for the review. Now that I have seen it, I will NOT be buying it. I am 73 years old , and do not need any airgun that needs that much effort to cock. CHEERS.
The size is what turns me off, for its fpe. I have to very heavy hatsan break barrels already so ill stick with my gamo swarm for a repeater, solid, accurate enough, and half the weight. If this was built on a mod 85 or 95 frame id be game, but since it look like it was built on a 155 im going to have to pass this one up with not much thought.
This rifle is super heavy.
Come on man, in 17 and I don't really think it is heavy
Your testing process is the best. Fast and to the point.👍
i would love one but i would have to get it customised with a barrel shroud silencer and thicker underlever i've always hated the look of skinny barrels other than that i'm impressed
Beautiful rifle. That stock is gorgeous. Be nice if they could lower the cocking weight
if hatsan will give the wooden stock, build quality, and the 30 calibre feature to gamo swarm's break barrel, that would be a game changer.
I was pissed that Hatsan never released the Dominator 200 carbine with the wood stock in the the US, I think that this model is loosely based on the Dominator, so they need to release a carbine version without that ridiculous front sight, also if length/weight are not an issue to people then the Walther LGU (available for $100 less than Pyramyd asks for it, just look it up) or the Diana Mauser might be better choices at a similar price point.
6: 49, The pattern dimension on the 25 y is cut short inward on both ends Tyler. And the bottom hole is the farthest one.
The 650 fps velocity would allow plenty of time for the burrowing rodents in this area to see the pellet coming and move, causing a miss at 20 y. So probably even at the 755 fps with the 14.66s. It's happened 3 times at 720 fps. So I bought a Marvelous Seneca Aspen.
Wow. 11lbs!
Its great... but gamo's swarm is easier to operate...1) no safety button2) no side lever bullsh*t3) no need to press a release button every time ur going to cock it...
If only gamo swarm came with open sights... and at least 25 fpe... You can never get everything
Some of the reviews I am reading on the Swarm are saying that it has a plastic locking mechanism that wears over time. Once it goes, the gun is useless. I was going to buy one til I read that. I dont like cheap plastic parts on my guns. If I am going to spend a couple hundred bucks, I want something that will last.
Great info and ur right, nothing beats a product that would actually last
A closer lookup at the rotating/revolving cycle function would have been nice.
sorry to be off topic but does someone know a trick to get back into an instagram account..?
I was stupid lost the login password. I appreciate any assistance you can give me!
@Angel Bruno instablaster :)
@Ronan Sullivan I really appreciate your reply. I got to the site on google and I'm in the hacking process now.
Takes a while so I will reply here later with my results.
@Ronan Sullivan It worked and I now got access to my account again. I am so happy!
Thank you so much, you saved my account !
@Angel Bruno happy to help =)
Apparently you can up the pressure of the hatsan vortex rams with an hatsan probe and a hand pump .
Kool about time it’s available!
I’ve got one of theses and it’s heavy no doubt about that
Would you recommend that I re finish the stock to a darker mahogany with gloss finish? I want to bring the grain out more and add a gloss to it. But I don’t know how it might look on this particular rifle.
I want someone to invent something like this with about sixty foot pounds of energy 💥 47-60 ft lbs would be reasonable for a spring to do with a lot of cocking effort though. Multiple shots would be great 👍.
Beautiful
Hopefully this is a successful game-changer that will bring some Sputnik moment to Hatsan's competition.
Cannot wait to see how Umerax, Gamo, Crosman/Benjamin etc. will respond...
More market options, the better!
smartiejl i dont see a need to respond to this rifle.. underlever multishot isnt exactly a mass market. gamo's swarm is a game changer worth answering
Beemen wadcutter model 1235 pellets have never failed me
Like the stock with the pistol grip
Needs more power. Lots of reviews say it’s not reliable. Looks nice otherwise. I’d buy if it could be used for hunting small game.
Carabina muito top gostei ela tem muita precisão
Well Done!
Tyler an Excellent presentation as always. I have a Diana 460 so the Proxima doesn’t impress me very much. There is one thing that begs mention, I’m wondering if this rifle can be loaded with single pellets? As for power , in my opinion the cocking effort should be commensurate to a higher foot pound yield. The under lever rifles are more accurate and less sensitive than break barrels. For the price $400 this gun is an expensive alternative.
I think you meant " inexpensive".
The point off having a repeater is quick reloading but with this cocking mechanism you might as well get a normal air rifle.
Very nice! Can the trigger be adjusted lighter??, stock looks great too, im a big guy so the weight and cocking isnt a issue. Im impressed! Ill be watching for buyer reviews.
Yes. Hatsan says the trigger can go into the 2.5 lbs range.
Por favor necesitamos en Cal 25 (6.35 mm) Gracias
I'd like a video on the Gamo Swarm Magnum 10X Quick Shot Gen 2. The loading of the magazine looks weird; It lays down. Pellets are vertical, not in line with the bore. Mag loading Instructions are not clear to me.
I like the gamo more
thats some impressive accuracy
Too bad the power is so low . For that kind of money I want 1100 fps with 14.3gr !!!
Agreed, too slow.
Very few Springer provides that much FPS.
I need help installing it
CAN YOU TELL PLEASE TELL ME THE SCOPE MOUNTS USED ON THIS RIFLE? Looking for high quality scope mounts for this rifle. I’m also looking for a not so expensive scope... this video sold me on that rifle. So I’m off to pyramid air for a rifle purchase. Hyped.
well done
good review
Wow!! has anyone actually used this gun? Looks awesome!
Jeff Inman I shot about 20 jsb 18.3 on my friends proxima. Long story short I placed an order for one.
hopefully more power in this gun soon...125,135,150,155 vortex give it that power plant
Hello.
so its posible to upgrade it ?
It looks heavy. How much does it weigh with the scope?
8:59 finly by the end of vid he say it a g d .22 caliber
18 seconds in he says its .22 cal .
Has Hatsan allowed for the Quattro trigger to be adjusted under 4# for rifles entering the US? The biggest beef I had with the 125 nitro was the extremely heavy Quattro trigger that could not be adjusted as light as the ones sent to European mkt. which were capable of 1.5# - 2# pull.
The info I have from Hatsan says the trigger on this rifle should be able to be adjusted under 3 lbs safely.
at 6:39 . what caliber pellet? 17 or .22 cal
.22he says he is testing the .22 at 18 seconds into the video ,
Nice honest review. Very informative! Sub added.
Thanks for the sub!
Is that little plastic magazine REALLY going to prevent someone from closing the lever if they're determined to close it and aren't paying much attention to resistance or is the "plunger" going to be shoved into that plastic magazine and break things before the shooter realizes something is wrong and stops trying to fold the lever?
Yes. You'd likely bend the cocking lever trying to close it if you really forced it against the cassette.
Tyler, is the SAS just a rubber butt pad? You didn't mention, by name, at least, as you ran down the list of features. If it is some sort of recoil rail system (sledge?) could you describe it? Also, I have noticed that during the accuracy segment you don't seem to show the actual firing of the guns, lately. I watch closely for this so I can get an idea of what the firing characteristic of the gun is.( to the extent that one can by simply watching a video) Also footage of the firing will give some indication of the hold that was used when the gun in question has a piston power plant. Does this SAS feature allow for resting directly on a sand bag or use of a bipod? Thanks for the reviews as they provide lots of the info one needs to make an informed purchase.
No, the SAS is a buffer system that is located around the front stock screws. It acts as a vibration dampening system as best I can tell. hatsanusa.com/pages/unique-features - you can read about it here. I don't mention it because they don't offer a version of the rifle without it, so there's no real way to know if it makes a difference.
We stopped showing the actual firing of the gun a while back for time and editing sake. But I understand what you are saying, and will talk to Matt about reincorporating it, particularly for springers and gas pistons. The hold on this gun was pretty far out, with my offhand (left, as I am a righty) near the stock screws with the rifle just resting in my open palm. It took a good 200-300 rounds to really get the feel for the gun and find the right hold.
The SAS really has no impact on what you can or cannot rest the gun on to get good accuracy. That said, I did try the gun directly on the bag, and the results were not good. And I can't recommend a bipod on any piston gun, have tried it enough to know it seldom works well.
I would have to cut off the front sight!
Well I cancelled my pre-order which I ordered on sept. 5 and after 3 move up delivery dates now oct.18 and they tell me that date is not promised plus the wood stock looked nice and shiney but you say it is a dull finish which I'm not a fan of ,so I will look at another gun to add to my collection.
Robert Guzman you can always take it to a woodworker and they can re do the finish. Gonna do that on mine. Want a mahogany walnut type of color. A bit darker stain with a glossy finish.
does anyone know this gun compares to Umarex Octane elite in .22?
Is this product can be delivered to India
Great review! I was wondering since the rifle has a much lower fps compared to other break barrels is it powerful enough to successfully hunt with? Thanks :)
Depends what you're after. Small game, up to raccoon size stuff should be no problem from a power perspective. As long as you are able to get clean, ethical kill shots, you shouldn't have a problem.
Actually the gun is pretty powerful. At almost a 20 ft. lb. gun, not long ago before the pcp rage, that kinda power was considered ultra magnum in some circles. Plus Tyler was shooting very heavy pellets where the fps was in the mid 600 range at the start of the video. This gun is plenty powerful for a non-pcp platform.
$399 you're welcome
You can get a very nice .22 for that....
I found one ☝️ for $299.00
@@harrykuheim6107 you can get a HW97. Enough said lol, that gun is the best. (Springer)
@@worker2004 Weirauch is the best Period!
how can i order from philippines?
does the magazine move itself to the next pellet or do you need to manually move it?
The magazine indexes on its own. It is spring driven
$ 400 .. might be worth it but one can get a real .22 l.r target for that $$ and shoot 100 yards all day ... so ??? is it worth it
Not with that pathetic accuracy...
Had me hooked until you said 11 pounds.
yeah definitely a bench gun
Guess something with more power is comming.
Going north of the 8 lb mark lost me for sure. Way north!
POR FAVOR TRAER EN CALIBRE 25 (6.35mm) ESTE HATSAN PROXIMA, POR FAVOR
Julio Enrique Leguizamo esta bien en .22. Por que tan urjido por .25?!
Where.can I buy one
Where is the purchase in maharashtra india
This is LITERALLY almost WORD FOR WORD what I wanted to build 2 years ago but couldn't afford. Pretty sure my description from when I was gonna do a Kickstarter is where they found my outline. Fuckers.
Oof. Eleven lbs and 45 lbs of cocking force with a 5+ lb trigger...
11lbs?! I was expecting atleast 24. I must be American.
Hi sir. I’m in the Philippines, I’m a pilipino, can help me to buy that air gun..
Hi how can I fix my GAMO swarm 22 my barrel has alittle play up and down and it's loose I can't send it back but is there a way to fix it?
KidRebel13 I've had that problem with almost every break barrel I've had ,, got tired of it an went to pcp
agreed, i hate break barrels cuz they always get sloppy
If I am going to buy a gun like this I WILL put a scope on it. Why do they always assume you don't put a scope on it. Please please make removable iron sights.
Wow I cannot believe that they put that kind of money into that under lover gun with that beautiful Walnut stock and no accuracy I get better accuracy out of my break barrel Benjamin gun terrible why would they put that kind of money into a gun and no accuracy that's really too bad cuz it's a really good looking gun
Accuracy is in the hands of the shooter....he could hand that gun to somebody else and the results would be different....
Different guns will be capable of achieving better grouping then others when stabilized (whilst using identical pellets) dependent on the quality of the barrel. There are entire review channels and site dedicated to testing these air guns to see the grouping characteristics.
Hatsan are notoriously bad at accuracy. Any random german air rifle on the market for 200$ will do far better. Hatsan makes toy's for clueless people who are impressed by high pressure. Get a real gunpowder .22 for small game hunting and a real marksman air rifle for practice.
The swarm magnum has the same cocking effort, weighs 4lbs less, has WAY more power, and is just if not more accurate. Not thanks Hatsan. I'll stick with both my swarms.
Why the Russian guy didn't participe un this video¿?.
I would buy hatsan but the sights look so ugly
2 " at 45 yards?
no, thank you
Exactly, pathetic. My kids 100$ "toy rifle" BSA Vscout do better than this rifle...
Im sorry but those groups are all horrible. But it could be a combination of things like shooter and the fact that its rested..allot of spring and gas ram rifles dont like beign rested..but yeah, those are horrible groups.i do like the looks of it though..
Seems Hatsan makes junk
Nice but at $400 I can buy a real rifle. Just a bit less in cost than a Delton AR15 to name just one..Not to mention a shotgun, or lever rifle or bolt action rifle and that doesn't even go into the many handguns in that price range or lower. Hard to justify the cost of some of these airguns.
Can you shoot any of those in your back yard? How about shoot any of those for $5 for 200 to 500 shots?..In your back yard. How about hunting squirrel's is mostly silence? how about hunting rats on a farm without blowing hole through roofs and wall and a cow? How much do you expect a quality gun to cost? Air guns are a LOT more complicated to design and to make also. Don't forget how much it cost to shoot. Yea, you can go buy a shotgun and watch it gather dust in your closet while the guy next door is out back practicing with his hasten. I did not even go into the government tyrannical restrictions on fire arms...
Joe surfer you make great points but im gona have to agree with OP on this gun.. accurate ammo in general isnt gona run 5 bucks a tin.. from the review this gun looks to be pretty balls in the accuracy dept with the moderately priced quality pellets that work well in many other rifles. could be just this particular rifle but if its all across the board then cheap ammo isnt gona get you far. $16 tin for 250 rounds of ammo that works in this gun isnt much of a selling point. plus its loud as hell, 100dB doesnt say backyard frienfly unless your neighbors are few and far inbetween.
True enough, but air gunning is a hobby like anything else, and like any other hobby, it costs money. I have my AR, a couple of shot guns and pistols. They have their purpose, but air gun hunting and sporting is just a hell of a lot of fun for some of us. I could go out and take a deer out of my stand this year with my 12 ga no problem, but I have done it so many times it is no longer as much of a challenge. I bought a Benjamin Bulldog this year, and I cant wait to see how it performs this year during deer season. I also like the fact that it is only about as loud as a 22 long rifle, and wont spook the deer on my property as much.
To each his own.
always some jackass squeaking about "i can buy a REAL gun" bla bla. never understanding a "real gun" doesn't have its own powerplant, that comes from the 'bullet'. a quality airgun is much more complex then an equivalent 'firearm'
Screw you idiot.
Very inaccurate rifle.
For shooting target I don't agree on good marks for accuracy, not for this kind of money. Actually the accuracy is pathetic. It will do for shooting cans when drunk , but if you use it as a training rifle to improve technique you will not be able to tell when you are doing things right or not. Any random german air rifle on the market for 200$ will do better than this when it comes to accuracy.
And why the high power with an air rifle? Totally pointless. Get a .22 gunpowder rifle for hunting ffs. No sane hunter would use this and no sane air rifle marksman would buy this either. It's obviously the same piece of crap that Hatsan alwas make. Hatsan makes toys for clueless beginners who get impressed by high pressure.
My kids 100$ "toy rifle" BSA Vscout do better than this rifle...
