Chikmagalur is around 245 kms from Bangalore and we took the route from Bangalore-Kunigal-Yadiyur-Hirisaye-Shravanabelagola-Channarayapattana-Hassan-Belur-Chikmagalur. The road condition is just amazing - superb condition and greenery all around. There are multiple places you can visit on the way like Markonahalli Dam, 32 feet Sai Baba Statue and Gommateshwara statue.
We stayed at hotel called Sunyata Eco Hotel and overall the place was clean, well maintained and rooms were large in size. However, there is no attached restaurant available except a small cafe with very limited food options and there was a very peculiar smell to the washroom water in the room which made it quite unpleasant at times.
