It is completely ridiculous that Spider turned up as an undercover detective. Of course there has been no explanation of how he got from being an anti-establishment proprietor of a trendy organic juice bar in London, (at what was not a particularly young age), to suddenly being in the elite of the police force. Mostly Corrie writing is of a high standard, but this is an example of where it goes, from time to time off the rails, with plot driven characters. The current idea completely lacks any credibility. It would not have been difficult for the writers to make it much more credible simply by having Spider be an "informant" who uses his contacts in the world of activism to sniff out extremists and criminals he does not approve of.
Actually there was. They did almost a full episode based around these two during the whole Max being groomed storyline.
She had told Spider the truth about what she did to Imran and he took off telling her that she can’t be telling him something like that and he left her for weeks. He wouldn’t answer her calls or messages
(One of Spider’s colleagues who was investigating what really happened regarding the accident, the long blonde haired cop. Wanted Spider to get the truth out of Toyah about what she did to Imran as she truly believed Toyah deliberately took Imran out but had no evidence. Toyah had just told Spider the truth not even ten minutes before!)
When Spider finally showed up again weeks later and Griff’s group @tacked the kid who was living with and being fostered by Maria and Gary. (The one who traveled first class in a rubber boat.) when he finished work and they were waiting for him in Seb’s memorial garden.
Spider couldn’t take it anymore and called his boss asking how much longer before they could bring the group in due to what they were doing to Max and what they had just done too a child? And his boss told him they need more evidence and told Spider too keep doing what he’s doing. He needed to tell someone the truth because he was about to confront Griff, and he remembered what Toyah had told him.
So he showed up at her place and that’s where everything was explained about how and why he became a cop in detail and also explained to Toyah that’s why he stopped talking too and seeing her after she confessed to him about Imran. And also told her that the cops don’t believe the accident was an accident and they were looking for evidence or a confession that she did it deliberately.
Something had happened to someone he was close to at one of their usual “getting in everyone’s way who are trying too get to places.) but this one was overseas and they never got the body back and nobody was ever charged. This is basically the short version of what made him become an undercover cop. In the show it goes on for ages with all the information he gives to Toyah.
@@user-fp5vf9qh3i I saw it, but it wasn't really explained how Spider, who was already quite old when he opened his organic juice bar ended up being a policeman. I don't think you can just go straight to being an undercover detective without all the uniform training etc. first. It might take years. That's why I think making him an informant, having his great connections, would have been a more believable story.
@@bhangrafan4480 I agree with you 100%. It’s just like how Craig only got into the force just over two years ago, didn’t do half his training to see if he was fit enough (he wasn’t at the time he was overweight!) due to completely missing or showing up really late to parts of it because of his OCD. And he’s now a Detective. Not sure in the UK but it takes over year close to 18 months of Intense training before you pass out of the academy and become a fully qualified cop. Nobody works their way up that fast!
But that’s the explanation Spider gave so him and Craig must have gone to the same training academy called “speed a cop” the guy that plays him is an awful actor. I can see why I’ve never seen him anything here in the States. (I watch the show using a VPN and I looked up the actor a while ago as I wondered how Toyah and half the street knew him. I didn’t know he’d been in it before in the 90’s but left a few years later to try and make it big here in Hollywood.)
