  • I bought a used Panasonic HDC-SD800 from 2011 to replace my Sony HDR-CX240, which is a much newer camera. This just a little demonstration of the performance of both cameras. Not a review! I'm aware that the Panasonic was top of the range in 2011 and the Sony was always intended as a budget camera. Thanks for watching!

Have several of these panasonic camcorders all models up to the latest 4k. The Sony hanycam does pan smoother on fast action, but the panasonic wins on quality. Do like the sony as it's so lightweight, both cameras when using davinci resolve studio 17 set the project settings to 60fps then add the video file and use dehase and optical flow the panasonic comes out beautiful silky smooth video and more vibrant and vivid. As for the Sony have used an external audio recorder and matched up in post editing that works fine. Do have more up-to-date and more expensive cameras but enjoy playing about with old tech as a lot of these cam's are still good in 2021 and tend to be more compact size for travel as over recent years camcorder manufacturers only build prosumer upwards now due to the mobile phone and now pocket cameras are in the same position in less demand. Camcorders are brilliant as they tend to stay in focus as there built purely for video unlike the mobile

It is mate! Not in 'as new' condition but it works perfectly for a 10 year old camera!
