I loved how you possibly made us discover new turf wars as I didn't know the late sunbreak fights. A turf war I would have loved to see is Tigrex vs Diablos where the desert tyrant charge into Tigrex only to get repelled by a 360. Diablos follows with an attempted ambush like Rathian but get countered by Tigrex's roar. Tigrex finishes with either a charge breaking Diablos' horn or throws a boulder to stun him. Black Diablos would spin the fight by going further than regular Diablos to launch a jumping attack throwing Tigrex to the ground then finishes the fight with a tail slam. The winner leaves to eat since the fight is tiring.
I think it would be a cool representation of both monsters' strengths and weaknesses and would change from the recycled turf wars.

@@HeavyWings i mean Kulu who is famous for using tools (rocks) coudl at least try to smack him out with a rock throw
i mean the whole Gimmick of Kulu was more or less that theyr quite smart for monster Standards cause they can use "tools" and know how to use a rock to block attacks ( it understands that a rock can block stuff)
so giving them some turfwars showing that off would have been great
imo it would also have been unique and funny if these turfwars would not end in a clear winner or a tie when kulu "wins"
a : kulu gets his butt kicked cause the oponent is to strong
b : kulu hits the oposing Monster with the rock dealing minimal dmg but knocking it down and kulu then runs away
some i would have come up with
Barroth vs Kulu Barroth charges Kulu throws the rock hitting Barroth on the head mid charge bringing him slightly off balance and making him stumble and crash but the whole speed/momentum makes barroth still slide towards kulu knocking them down too
      Kulu vs Rajang
Kulu throws the rock ..but Rajang catches it looking at the rock while Kulu is kinda "mind blown" then Rajang throws the rock back knocking Kulu down with it
(kinda like the ,,well this didnt worked out as planed situation)
      Kulu vs Bishaten
where bishaten bombs Kulu with fruits Kulu trys to dodghe then digs up a rock and blocks some fruits with it
making bishaten realeise ,,ok ,,,i should leave
and when bishaten turns aroudn Kulu slam dunks the rock on bishaten
i could also see this other where after kulu has the rock bishaten thinks its ok
then kulu throwes the rock at bishaten and bishaten throws the furit
the fruit gets knocked away by the rock and the rock hititng bishaten right in the face
these stuff could have been altered quite well
with stronger Monsters where kulu trys to block but the attacks are to strong
or stuff like Kulu throws the rock at like a charging tigrex geting it stuck in its mouth making the tigrex flail around trying to get rid off the rock giving the kulu time to run away
these would also imo give the impressen that kulu themself dont wants to do much with other Monsters
but gets attacked/huntet and then shows that hes not as an easy meal as some Monsters think

the velociprey in the jungle nest area would directly attack rathian (and possibly other monsters?) when you topple them specifically in that area, this was a running theme whenever that map appeared in the franchise, i think they may even possibly do it in sunbreak though im not sure on that one.

Would be cool if they started off with some recycled turf wars in order to have every possible large monster interaction potentially result in a turf war, but then change the recycled ones post-release to make them more unique from each-other. That way, the team could have more turf wars and the community can deliver feedback on the recycled ones on how to make them unique (like having great wroggy spray poison at a brute wyvern grabbing it).

Great video, I think it's worth mentioning the disparity of turf wars that include Tigrex, Nargacuga and Barioth. Although they are flying wyverns, I do think it is important to note that they exclusively have a different skeleton compared to to other flying wyverns like the raths and all the way to something like Legiana. In my head I always classified Tigrex and the other two as "Gen 2 flying wyverns" as opposed to The much more standardised Gen 1 flying wyvern skeleton. I always thought this to be the reason why any turf wars including them were heavily recycled.

I get wanting less draws for the sake of more details on the ranking of monsters in the local food chain, but it feels like a waste of time when a monster trots into the area, gets in a turf war with your target, and the target monster wins, leaving zero reward for the hunter in a circumstance that really couldn't have been avoided.

I have an idea for a brand new exclusive turf wars for monster hunter wilds since wild is teorized to be open world theres could be a posibility for more than 3 monster in one locale so i propose a unique feature calling
    -Rathian vs seregios
if a seregios and rathian is this the same locale and both monster saw each other they would have a turf wars BUT if rathian is above 50% heatlh the turf wars would shown as seregios getting the upper hand but rathian manage to escape at the end but if rathian is below 50% heatlh seregios would proceed to beat rathian with no second chance for her but rathian manage to break free and fire a single weak fireball that only pushes seregios away as she proceed to let out a special roar that once finish are followed with a rathalos roar and a dive toward the seregios knocking it down and rathalos came down and proceed to check on rathian before telling her to fly away turn toward seregios and become enraged as a result of seregios hurting his mate that bring to the second one
    -rathalos vs seregios
If a rathalos and a seregios is in the same locale or rathalos was called in by rathian and they saw each other they will have a turf wars it will started with seregios firing some sharp scale at rathalos only for rathalos to swat them off with a tailspin after that rathalos going in with a talon strike only for seregios to dodge it as both flying wyvern take to the sky and having an aerial war fair with each other before rathalos manage to grab seregios and slam hin to the ground dealing some damage and pin hin but gets kick off and seregios fire a couple off sharp scale at rathalos pushing him back before flying away in defeat

I absolutely love turf wars but it's clear there's a few problems, iceborne quantity over quality issue I think stems from
    1. Dev short cuts
    2. Iceborne Invader problem which results in a lot of copy pasting
    3. Feelings like they need to have all the apex level monsters fight, I'd rather have a handful of really good turf wars to show off ecology and rivalry and acutaly take into account each monsters strengths then have a mountain of copy paste,
I also don't like how they are very iron clad in power between monsters, it's a very strict higher rank beats lower rank unless your magnamalo in which case you get to be a spoilt child, or 2 monsters that are 5 star must draw even tho there's a huge disparity in power between monsters at every level, some punching well above thier weight and others acutaly being a lot weaker, like mizutsune and Gravious are not in the same weight class of power what so ever yet they are still considered 5 star monsters
They have also left a lot of rivalrys without turf wars like the raths vs astalos and Seregios or rathian vs glavenus

    A few things
Pretty sure mizu ties with Zinogre. I've always thought of a win as the monster falling over for an extended period, trying to get up, like world, but Mizu doesn't fall over. I suppose the counter argument to this is that by that logic, Primordial Malzeno ties with Velkhana but I feel like the context is different for the conclusion of each fight. Primodial straight up folds Velkhana with a three piece combo definitively winning the fight but Mizu bubbles blasts zinogre, forcing it away.
Pretty sure Standard Magnamalo has a the same turf war as Scarred, with Malzeno.
I feel like there's a Mandela effect going on right now. I coulda sworn the turf war message popped up between Amatsu and Apex Zinogre but looking up CZcams videos, not a single one showcased that.
I wanna go by technicality on this one. Valstrax has one "Turf War" in Sunbreak with Amatsu because it's the only one monster that actually responds to the ambush. It's always called an ambush but to me, it's always been a turf war.

Scorned and regular magna tie with velk because instead of making her flee immediately, velk actually attacks, however due to her weakness to fire, she would realistically tie with magna

For me it makes sense Chameleos has NO Turf War especially with other Elders.
If you analyse Chameleos, you can figure out that Chameleos is not a Predator, his abilities are evolved to avoid fights. Clearly you can use invicebility and heavy toxins for offence behaviors, but thats not the deal of it. like a venomous Snake, who bites his prey and let it run away to die. On top speaking the facts, he has no carapace, his skin isn't build to resist damage, i don't know if Capcom ever said what Chameleos is eating, but i would say he lives up to his Chamelon paragon and eats Bnahambras, Vespoids and other Stuff like that and bullies smaller Creatures like Pukei Pukei does if he can. The only Turf Wars i think he would have would be Nergigante and maybe Malzeno in Fact of Nergi can shut down his invincebility and Malzo could find him with the curios who are maybe able to sence him by his Blood.
Espinas stands on the oposite side of the Board. He is a Predator and has a highly evolved Carapace to resists heavy damage. Yes his Elemental/Status-abilities aren't that strong like Chameleos, but all over more build for fighting a Kushala than Chameleos, which his Turf War showcases perfectly.
I hope you understand what i want to say, my english isn't really good at all ^^"

I do have a question. Why is the 'power tiers' not being clean an issue again? Like the whole segement around the time stamp 55:23 to 56:00.
Why is is this an issue? These aren't Dragonball characters we are comparing. The 'X monster is MORE POWERFUL than Y monster. Y monster beats Z monster and X monster loses to Z.' isn't a problem, a square version of it happened with the Fated 4 no? Just without turf wars.
To me its sounds like complaining for the sake of complaining about something. I'd appreciate an explanation of the problem rather than glossing over it like its undisputed truth. "Its just seems like a mess to me." Isn't exactly a stunning explanation.

    • @themeekkat
      @themeekkat Před 2 měsíci +5

I agree. It's probably from his mindset of a linear pecking order, most of the time, and for their to be a power scaling thing.
This is an issue with the MH community and others in general. It's kinda childish tbh as it's a middle school like thinking.
Not even real life ecosystems always have a straight hierarchy. The food chain mindset is a very simple one. It's more of a food web.
It's not really survival of the fittest but survival of who survives.
(Which is funny when you consider heavy wings showed that while Bazel is strong, he is not a good match up against Magmamalo due to him being an explosive type of monster himself. )
One day a pride of lions take down an elephant. The next day quite a few lions get crushed by same Elephant.
      Same with a crocodiles, Buffalo
      Snake vs mongoose,
      Mongoose vs eagle
      Eagle vs snake
Spider vs wasp (Sometimes wasps lay eggs in spiders. Specifically the tarantula wasp)
      Wasps vs frogs
      Spider vs frogs
(Some spiders will have frogs as "pets" while others prey on them. And frogs can eat spiders.)
I'm mostly speaking of kinds of animals here as there are a lot of species within a kind with many different dynamics.
There's so much more to animals than the basic thinking of predator - prey or MUI Goku beats x characters, X characters beats y, why beats z therefore z can't beat MUI Goku.
(I dare not add more names for a reason)

It's unclear. He's encountered later in Rise than he was in World but that generally happens with returning monsters in the series, like all the 4U starters were high rank only in Generations.

I personally don't care for recycled turf wars. World's turf wars were something special because of how unique they were. They communicated to you about the world you were in hunting. Iceborne onwards, it's just "animations" at this point. They don't feel that special when basically every monster has at least 1 recycled turf war. In my opinion, they should stay unique, even if that means there isn't a lot of them. Turf wars aren't NEEDED for every monster when they already fight and do damage to each other with basic attacks (Yes this is a thing, even if you don't see the damage numbers except for Rajang and Jho for some reason).

I think Turf Wars should only happen withing "brackets". I will try to keep this short but basically Tigrex, Nargacuga, Brachy and Glavenus are one step below contender but one step above "apex hunters" like rathalos and diablos like you mentioned, and should only fight each other because they will destroy anyone below them. By Contender I mean Monsters like Magnamalo or Rajang who with enough experience might be able to fight an elder like Kushala but most likely will lose. That way we can get all the unique Turf wars without putting too much strain on the Devs. Like i said i tried to keep this comment short but i hope anyone reading this gets my point without misunderstanding it. Basically even Rajang who can win against Kirin should not fight Nergigante or other Elders and Tie.
