      Oh, he was always in the stands? How humble. If only his foreign policy were as humble instead of expanding the Vietnam war and committing war crimes by attacking Cambodia, a neutral, sovereign nation. Maybe you shouldn't judge presidents by inconsequential attempts to make themselves appear as "one of the people," but rather by their policies. Otherwise, you will keep electing clowns like Trump.

      Nixon's policies were top-notch. He got us OUT of Vietnam. He thawed relations with the USSR and China. Schools were integrated. He proposed a universal health care plan. Dogged by Watergate, he will never get the credit he deserves. He was a brilliant man.

      Reed Rothchild, top-notch? Like how he illegally bombed Cambodia and committed war crimes that led to the rise of Khmer Rouge and the subsequent genocide? He should have been executed for that alone. But I guess U.S. is immune when it comes to genocide. www.jacobinmag.com/2015/04/khmer-rouge-cambodian-genocide-united-states/

    His story is really amazing. The extreme highs and lows in his career were very uncommon. So brilliant and humble is some ways. So lacking in morals and unable to relate in others. All of his accomplishments as president of course are overshadowed by Watergate. And his comeback as an elder statesman was a testament to him. His life is worth the study.

      But it would do you well to know that when he *wasn’t* doing that, he was derailing the American economy with *Nixon Shocks.* It took the direct efforts of *three* Presidents to bring America back from the brink of financial chaos that Nixon left it at.

    I've spoken of the supremacy of Richard Nixon's place as a statesman, due to the key fact that he held the highest office's of both President and Vice President for over 13 and a half years. Although a few other Presidents had combined office's to a total of 12 years and of course FDR's 12 plus; all them were in consecutive years. Richard Nixon's time spanned 22 years, almost a quarter of a century and close to double his closest Presidential colleagues. The term “The Wilderness Years” has been a historic reference point for discussing Winston Churchill's acclaimed career, and his time when he was not within the great corridors of power. Similarly from 1960 to 1968, Richard Nixon wandered in his own Wilderness. Yet perhaps this is when a gifted leader is anointed with a higher calling and if given the opportunity to once again hold high office, shall humbly endeavor to do so on an even more righteous path of leadership.

      Obama's peace deal with Iran was an excellent piece of diplomacy that made us all safer and improved our relations with Iran. Our NATA allies were all for the deal because they correctly saw that it prevented Iran from getting nuclear weapons while simultaneously improving their economy and improving our relations with them. It enabled our aerospace companies like Boeing to sell passenger jets to Iran. It was win/win/win until our loser President Trump tore it up without even reading it. Trump's doing that made it likely that Iran would make nuclear weapons, putting us and our allies in much greater danger.
      It's a shame that so many Trump-worshipping, right-wing fanatics have bought into Fox News' gross distortions of this issue. Obama issued Iran a REFUND of money that we OWED them. The pseudo-journalists at Fox deliberately distorted the truth by calling that a ransom. That would be like returning a router to Best Buy for a refund and having some bozo call that a ransom. The truth is when relations with Iran turned sour in the 1970s, President Carter froze all Iranian assets in the United States. He had good reasons for doing that at the time, but the result was that Iran had paid for goods and services such as airplane parts which they never received. Then with relations remaining bad for years, Iran never got refunded that money that they paid and they never got the items which they had paid for. In other words, it was a legitimate debt that Obama rightfully paid as part of that deal, and as part of improving our relations with them. Fox News once again lied to the public by distorting that refund.
      So we had a good deal with Iran, one that improved relations, improved both economies, one that our allies were happy with, one that prevented the proliferation of nukes, only to be nullified by our incompetent President Trump without even bothering to read it. Now we're less safe, our allies are upset with us, and Boeing has unjustly lost a market.
      Nixon was a smart foreign policy President who would have approved of this deal with Iran. Trump doesn't even understand what the deal was, but tore it up only as an ego trip. It's appalling that many Americans support such a foolish move. They only do so because they are fools themselves. That's what happens when people listen to an entertainment network that admitted in a court of law that they're an entertainment and not a news channel. That was their basis for claiming they're under no obligation to tell the truth. And they don't tell the truth. And that turns may Americans into fools -- who are foolish enough to vote for an incompetent demagogue like Trump.

    • @giglathplaze5001
      @giglathplaze5001 Před 3 lety +2

      Obama didn't pay off terrorists. What he did was give a refund to the legitimate government of Iran. He paid money BACK to them that we owed them. They had paid for parts and services, which they never received. It's no different than if you returned a defective router to Best Buy. Of course they would give you your money back. Our NATO allies agreed with Obama on the deal with Iran. It was a deal that allowed inspections, allowing the US and the rest of NATO to verify that Iran wasn't building nuclear weapons, and it allowed US airplane manufacturers like Boeing to sell commercial aircraft to Iran. It was win/win. Iran got money back which they were OWED. The world got a safer world in an Iran that wouldn't develop nukes. And US companies would have been able to sell planes to Iran. So, yes, it was a great deal. And please don't use the hyperbole of calling their government "terrorists." They don't murder innocent people with drone strikes like we do. You're projecting. And quit distorting the truth by calling the REFUND a "pay off." That's intellectually dishonest. You've been watching Joseph Goebbels Television, also known as "Fox News."

      No offense intended, but Kennedy won the popular vote, albeit by a fraction of a percentage point: 49.72 to 49.55. Nixon could've contested the outcome, but the popular vote doesn't mean anything in the United States. The Electoral College chooses the president, and they voted overwhelmingly for Kennedy over Nixon: 303 to 219. 😐

    • @mcapple7651

      @@TheStockwell 303 is a pretty standard victory. Not to dismiss Kennedy's win, he never should have won that election, but he did just about everything right and then some, but that's like saying Trump overwhelmingly beat Clinton, or Biden overwhelmingly beat Trump. They were solid victories, but not blowouts. Also, I think he's implying that Kennedy stole the popular vote, but Nixon conceded and didn't challenge it, though I don't particularly agree with that.
